Does the laser mouse make a difference in halo, compared to a fairly good optical mouse?

Well although it's supposed to tract movement like 5x better than any normal optical mouse i'm not even looking at this mouse's $140 CAN price tag until i get a job, hmm wow check this thing out look like it's new, if u really want a gaming mouse for unridiculous prices i suggest u get this thing, looks awesome :) (and for only $80 CAN)

wow, i've looked at that thing closer, up to 5 super-customizable sensitivity setting which can be switched in game!!!! Man i can just imagine looking around super fast, equiping a sniper rifle, switching to the low sensitivity, and getting a smooth bead on a enemy down-range, sweet! though it might become a nuisance constantly switching back and forth, from the looks of it it seems there's even finger depressions on the mouse's buttons! The only downer is that it's cordless, but you just couldn't get this kind of reactivity from a wireless mouse.

To be honest, more of a gimmick than anything. If you think that merely improving your Halo (or any game's) gameplay is enough to warrant buying a new, and above all, expensive mouse, you really need to rethink your direction in life...

Unless youre filthy rich...

I do very well with a $25 keyboard + laser mouse combo, and the mouse is about $10 or so. I don't notice any problems at all, in fact it's the best laser I'vd had.

Most do. The thing with mice is that there is rarely one that will fail or not perform right, or even well. Like I said, a $10 one suits even my needs, and I need accurate performance for my LAN's and my 3DS work.

My advice is stick with a normal laser mouse by Logitech - they never make a crap product.

Well Microsoft ones are also good too. Between the 2 though, I would take Logitech since it has style and color and the same prices as the MS ones. But yeah, I agree SLD, sticking with the normal Logitech or MS is the best. The reason why I got the Logitech 1000 was it was on sale for $30.

Oh, ive heard of those. I first saw one packaged with...um...oh, i think it was Quake 3. It was a "Boomslang" model, i think? Supposed to be super-expensive, though.

I didnt really look into the website, just scanned the first page.

If it is the cheaper alternative, then they mustve realized that their mice were overpriced and slashed it...

just to clarify, most optical mice use an LED, not a laser. the MX 1000 is the only mouse i know of that uses an actual laser. I don't think Microsoft and other companies are using lasers in their optical mice yet.

Are you sure? My logitech one says on the bottom to not look at the 'laser' because it is a low-power laser aperture...no LED is as bright as the thing in my mouse.

The one used in the MX1000 is a more powerful laser, as it has much better dpi resolution than the others and has a faster response - typical of something higher powered.

At any rate, if it works well, who cares if it's an LED or a laser?

LED, are you smoking something bad for you? Every optical mouse underneath it has the "caution" warning.

"Is there a clown behind me again?"

I have the Logitech MX-510, I've never used the Laser... but if it is as good as the movement in the 510 you will love it. Don't be fooled, there is a huge difference between high resolution gaming mice and cheap $19.99 M$ mice. I used to use a Logiech Trackman for all gaming, because it was so much faster than a mouse, and it had finer movement. But since the MX-510 came out, I've been using it.

I would go with a MX-518 (the enhanced 510) before the laser. It is a lot cheaper, and is for gamers.

Not mine. But mine is from an obscure brand, so it could be different.

I still dont think that merely improving gameplay warrants buying a mouse over $50.
