How about a Light Machine Gun that is portable and can be deployed?

I'm thinking of something along the lines of the Turret from Halo 2.

Deployed, Folded.

If we ARE playing as Spartans once again instead of just alongside them as some people speculating, it could work similar to the Mulcher Gatling Gun in Gears of War 2.

You can carry it around and you move slightly slower as you are now carrying 3 weapons.

But, you could also fire it without deploying it, giving you offensive capability, but low accuracy. Pulling LT could allow you to deploy the weapon and set it up where you're standing, but you wouldn't be able to move or fire for a second or two.

After that it would have higher accuracy than carried, and you could press a button to collapse it and carry it with you again.

What do you guys think?

I like the idea of using that turret but I think it should just be shot while holding it.

How would Ammo work?

Technically thats not a LMG, thats a crew served weapon, therefore either medium of heavy machine gun =]. Plus, it's .50 cal isn't it?

A light machine gun or LMG is a machine gun designed to be carried and fired by an individual soldier, with or without an assistant, and used in a front-line infantry support role. LMGs are often used as squad automatic weapons.

A light machine gun may be identified either by the weapon or by its tactical role. It is used to fire in short bursts, usually from a bipod: a sustained-fire mount such as a tripod

I suppose it would be more along the lines of a General Purpose Machine gun though, with being able to be carried or mounted.

I like the idea, but I think you should use ammo realistically. Instead of having infinite ammo like Halo 2 and 3, you should reload once in a while.

I think it should have 100 or 200 round boxes.

i would think it would be good for offense games like assualt you could carry it around like a ripped off turret but pressing be on this will just make it portable and if you run out of amunition while carrying it it would become useless in deployed mode.

good idea by the way

-Ch@rlie! at the Disco!

actually in the first lvl of halo 2 there is a marine carrying a folded turret on his shoulder so this is possible
