So now that modding in Halo PC has gotten out of control, Bungie and Microsoft are no longer supporting it.
Wait....what, modding is generally approved on PC games, to expand the variety and enjoyment of the game. They're is kinda of a extra game called Halo Custom Edition....which uses Mods
Halo Custom Edition was not made by Bungie and is therefore not supported by Bungie. Mods on console games are illegal as it usually involved tampering with your Xbox 360. Plus, modded maps are against Bungie's Terms of Use as well. The only thing that is allowed is glitching. As long as you don't tamper with the game's source code or the system hardware, it is allowed.
In Halo 1 PC, the tools for modding were released by Gearbox (not Bungie). In Halo 2 Vista, they were also developed by Hired Gun (not Bungie). In Halo 3, to mod, you need a lot of Hex Editors and Resigners as far as I know. And I heard that in Halo 3, the only mods you can do are just simply re-hashing (swapping objects).
Plus, updates in Halo 3 are meant to prevent certain types of modding and cheating. So while it is ok to mod on PC games, on console games, modding is illegal and can get your console banned from online capabilities. Microsoft and Bungie are very strict about modding.
