I am sorry, but please correct me if I am wrong, but if you had a dev xbox, then you could make a new map play right? Because from what I know about Halo 1, granted it is different from Halo 2, you do need hardcoded spawn points in the map to begin with to even do more than 1 player on campaign? Halo 1 for PC still has these in it from the xbox version, but there is no way to use them because of how the engine is set up. Also, co-op is completely not practical to bring to a PC platform. Think about it, you and your friend will share a keyboard to play? and the computer has no way to register between two different input systems separately. It would be like having two mice. The game could not get the different control set from the computer because it has no detect function for that.
But if we are talking about doing it over a LAN or network connection, that would also have the same problems as the multiplayer has now. You would have to lead to hit anything while doing campaign. Imagine trying to lead on The Library, the sentinels would be of no use at all, as would the marine AI. As well as the problems of BSP switching, AI syncing, and pretty much all scripts and device actions. None which sync right now in multiplayer, so how would that work in a co-op game?
nevermind this whole BSP switching stuff, all we know is that Halo 3 does it all so good.
Bungie has definetely improved their networking methods.
The idea of online co-op, is not split-screen. its each person on a computer.
Halo 1 Xbox, System Link co-op
I would like to know, this possible for Halo 1 PC?
Halo 2 does sync these things. but its not perfect.
whenever people mention co-op on PC, they mean Online, not local split-screen.
no, 2 people on one PC.
