So there has been alot of talk about weather Halo Reach should have a fall damage element added to it. So cast your votes on this hot topic right here.

In my opinion fall damge would be bad for Halo Reach. Think about the awesome moments in Halo 3 that have occured due to the man cannon witch would be forced out of the game due to fall damage. I remember one time when I was in a banshee in Halo 3 custom game and I heard the sound of a missle pod locking on to me. Oh -BLAM-! So I bailed from a hight of about 140ft. only land on an enemy Warthog with my Grav Hammer and smash the -blam- out of all 3 of them.

It is these awesome moments that make Halo so... Awesome! Fall damage would only ruin alot of these moments and ultimatly make Halo a little less special.

Posting on bungie.net should require that the user has had to have read a chapter book all the way through.

Yes. End of story.

There were many good times in Halo 1 also. Since Halo Reach is before Halo it would only make sence. And since most lilkey there wont be any man cannons it would make more sence.

They should have it but they should let your turn it off in custom games.

Yes, fall damage should be in Halo: Reach. Fall damage forced players to think before they acted. People didn't jump off the top of Hang 'Em High just to avoid a fight, unlike Tombstone in Halo 2. Plus, you could reduce fall damage by crouching at the last second, adding a strategic element to gameplay.

And the game takes place before Halo 1, it only makes sense to have it.

Absolutely, you shouldn't be allowed to bounce around the map like you have ADHD and not expect to be hurt when you fall a large distance.

I am of an open mind and I am willing to hear criticism. Also: That's stupid and you're stupid.

I would rather it not.

Overall, it adds to the realistic factor. You're a 1 ton Spartan, anything you jump on should be damaged, not you.

It's much more fun to jump around, rather than worry about losing a chunk of your health falling. If I wanted to play a game designed like that, then I would choose Modern Warfare 2.

Fall damage is just not a "Halo" thing anymore.

This. And if there are mancannons in multiplayer, they shouldn't kill you due to fall damage.

"There's almost nothing more rewarding then siniping a guy out of the air as he's man cannoning across the map" -David Candland, Interface designer in Halo 3

agreed, why would bungie remove the man cannon? it's a great aspect of Halo and an awesome way to move from point A to point B.

P.S. Thank you Dark Crimson, thats so true.

This apple is brown, and rotten. This orange on the other hand, is in relatively average shape. So the orange is definitely the preferable option.
----------You can't compare apples and oranges. You're so dumb.

No, I don't think so. It seriously limits the verticality aspect of Halo.

I wouldn't be completely opposed to it if it was limited, so that you couldn't die from fall damage. But if I die from fall damage alone, in MP im not going to be thrilled. If I die because I recieved fall damage, and an enemy finished me off. Then I can appreciate that. At the end of the day, most of my favorite maps from Halo 2, and Halo 3 had a height aspect to them. And they wouldn't of worked at all, had any significant form of fall damage had been implented.

I guess at the end of the day, weither fall damage makes sense, depends on what direction they take the game. If its very much in the vein of Halo 3, then I certainly hope it doesn't exist, or isn't significant.

I think it would make a great option for multiplayer. They can even give you an input option where you type in how many feet before dying, just in case you want to survive falling something like the highest reachable points on headlong, but make it where you die if you jump out from higher up. Allowing people the ability to lower the people getting on top of awkward geometry. Forcing players into suicide once their sniper ammo runs out.

Fall damage is purly a gameplay element, it has nothing to do with the story or time line of Halo.

They could find a way for the man cannon and fall damage I'm sure. I think it would be a great option to make the game a bit more tactical and focus players down certain paths with danger of death.

Make fall damage afect you vertically rather than horizontally. If you hit at a slope,, you reduce damage. If you crouch when landing, you also reduce damage.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Taking out fall damage made sense because you upgraded to Mk VI armor, they should add it back in because in Reach you will wear Mk V armor again.

And you base it not being "Halo" on what? It was a defining feature in Halo CE's gameplay. The removal of fall damage is down right stupid. You shouldn't be able to jump without thinking. I think fall damage would make Halo:Reach more fun. Adding one realistic aspect doesn't mean the entire game needs to become a real life simulator, I don't know why you think that. Also Mancannons would be an exception to fall damage because it could launch you and gently place you down. I think if Fall damage is added it should only be half as extreme though.

so if your being tageted by a splazer or a missle pod while in a banshee your screwed cause if you bail you die unless there happens to be a significant slope beneth you?

To be quite honest, I thought I said, "Fall damage is just not a "Halo" think anymore." I'm quite sorry about that.

There is another thing, that is your opinion, and that post you quoted was my opinion.

I prefer no fall damage, because I simply prefer how Halo 2 and Halo 3 play without it.

EDIT: I mean sure, it would be a superb addition as an option for Custom Games, but I would rather it not be in Multiplayer MatchMaking or pre-set game types for Custom Game .

Well then Bungie better have Hardcore playlists with fall damage because the game needs to be more like Halo CE. Halo games have always been great but they have progressively gotten worse with time.

I was just thinking that as well. Hardcore could definitely sport a "Fall Damage" oriented gameplay.
