I was looking at the leaked achievements (I have betrayed bungie!, kidding, maybe) and one said that (and yes, I know they might be leaked. Humor me.) you can't fire any shots or use grenades. I started thinking about beat downs. Then I started thinking about brutes and beat downs. The question is; As an ODST, will you have to hit a brute more times than a spartan does? I know ODSTs are not as fast or strong as spartans and that might affect gameplay. A spartan has to hit a normal brute three times to kill it. Once for armor, Once to hurt him, and the last is a kill. Would an ODST have to him them five times? Would this affect all other things too like three hits for grunts or four for jackals?

I know that was a meaty paragraph but what I want to know is; "As an ODST, will you have to hit an enemy, specifically a brute, more times than a spartan does?

ONCE for the Armor??!?! Are you playing on Easy?

Probably, but we can't know for sure because the game isn't out yet.

Pwnr. I play on Heroic and Legendary. Whenever I beat down a brute sometimes it is four, two for armor, but most of the time it is three for me.

Well, generally on Heroic, it takes two for a Minor/Major/Ultra/Jump pack/Bodyguard (one for power armor, one for body) three for a Captain/Captain Major/ Captain Ultra (one for the "shields", one for the armor, one for the body) and Chieftains take 5-10 (I forget).
ODSTs do significantly less damage and as well, it has to be on Legendary. So forget this. I plan on hanging back and letting my allies do as much damage as possible before even looking at them.

I think you have to do it solo (not sure). But it said no shots fired, this may let you use a hammer, sword, or splatter. Or it is just a clever way to say no weapons. Keep in mind that those achievements may be fake. I said three because lately I had Thunderstorm on for every mission so I could get the meta game achievements (Heroic with Thunderstorm, Fog, and Famine, with Grunt Birthday Party and IWHBYD thrown in.)

Lol what happens if we encounter a Chieftain as an ODST, we would be Destroyed cause I mean if a Chieftain can reck the Chief in a Fight what can he do to a ODST?.

I would think that it would take an ODST many, many hits to even wound a Brute...I mean, look at previous Halo games and cutscenes. An easy one to see is at the end of Sierra-117, in Halo 3, when Johnson (a Spartan 1, might i add) punches a Brute in the chest and all the Brute does is shrugs it off and kicks him off his feet. Crow's Nest, in the Barracks section where those Marines get flung around like ragdolls by the lowest ranking Brutes...Oh yeah, i KNOW that ODSTs are supposed to be stronger/faster etc. than your average Marine but, in the end, they're all human and have no augmentations like Spartans (unless, of course, Rookie is a Spartan =o lol)

That is a very good and scary point you have there, but Bungie has to make the game only semi impossible, not impossible. For the sake of gameplay they probably made it so it is the same as a Spartan. They are using the H3 engine (I know nothing of making video games) that might mean it's like a custom games damage modifier. They might have to let it be the same so gun fire is the same, but I seriously doubt it.

Well i've seen that when a Brute has no armor on it takes two hits to kill them (don't know about what difficulty it was on) so i think it does take more to beat them down but only slightly more.

The armor usually falls off in one hit for normal brutes in almost every difficulty (I have never played it on easy, I have played it on normal but it has been months, I have played it on Heroic just this past week, i have played it on legendary about one or two months ago)
