In H3 all Bungies packs were 3 maps and it seemed like I played them out in about an hour. Even if their were four it would have a slight bit of extra replayability. I am begging you Bungie make your Map Packs for Reach at least 4 maps but anywhere between 4-8 maps. you can charge w/e 1600 or anything. Just please make bigger packs. What does everyone else think?

Oh yes I did!

They do what they can. Bigger map packs? Expect more time to create them.

Perception is everything.

NO! They should instead give us a full fledged map editor with a custom game finder to replace map packs with a limitless supply of community maps. Then bungie should make a few maps using the editor on a monthly basis.

ohh I get it you're saying Bungie losing out on cash! So gonna happen....... As much as I love the idea of a Map Editor I don't think it would be good enough to replace map packs.

Not entirely. Do you realize how long they have been done with making Heretic Longshore Citadel Sandbox Assembly and Orbital? It was supposed to be a single pack with 6 maps. And we could have had all the maps by now.

I am the hand of fate!

3 are good. They just need to push them out at a faster rate, like 1 every 3-4 months.

Plekpedia - The most epic site in the history of ever.

5 would be awesome, however 5 maps = 1200, which means alot of forum meltdowns, however, I am willing to pay 1200, so it wouldn't bother me, but also, I wouldn't want the Reach forum to turn into Community War 3.

You realized Bungie could give us the perfect game in Halo Reach and their are going to be complaints that their isn't anything to complain about.

To me It just felt like 3 maps were not enough to make me want to continually play all the time. I would buy the maps play for about a good 2 days and already be really bored of them. Or maybe they just need to make better maps. Cold Storage was all by it self and I would take that single map over any map pack. (playability not forgeability). Bungie probably makes so much $$$ off map packs I don't see why they won't make more in a pack or make them more often.

Okay...how about this. There are two forms of matchmaking. You have the standard matchmaking, consisting of all bungie made maps and good enough community maps. Then you have your custom game finder...searching for community made maps and gametypes that you specify. The standard matchmaking would keep a ranking system, and would be sure to have good maps. Map packs with bungies maps can still cost money, giving bungie their money, and us our map editor.

I think 3 map/pack is ok for Halo and if they just included a near Far Cry standard map creator, the problem is solved as Halo has one of the biggest fanbases of all games, the community will keep map production strong.

I cannot wait to sink my teeth into the Dark Corners Gears 2 maps (7, 2 remakes), I enjoy larger map packs as it takes me very little time to learn maps and their spawns and flow.

Longer lead times before release, larger cost, wouldn't be well recieved by fans. Even if it was the same price per map as we see now, the larger pack cost would piss people off. There are too many ignorant people out there that feel they should be given everything for free.

I think 3 at a time isn't bad, considering that most of them have high replay value and they have gotten good at designing maps that work well with forge.

3 is so so little considering they don't release them often enough. New maps in 3's would be good if their were new maps every 2-3 months. I would rather have them in bulk 6-7 maps in a pack every 6 months. More maps are never a bad thing.

Not practical, especially in this society. Today, instant gratification could describe our gaming community. You even have that behavior yourself. You get bored with maps within 2 days. Lengthening the release dates on map packs would make everyone furious with Bungie.

Think of it this way. 5 maps released every 7 months is too long and it would make the fans bored before the maps actually get there. 1 map every month would take the "specialness" of new map packs away and would again make fans angry. I think Bungie hit the sweet spot with 3 maps every 4-6 months.

bungit should make a game made that goes up to 300 people and the map you play on is all of the halo 3 maps combined into one big map

Posting on bungie.net should require that the user has had to have read a chapter book all the way through.

If not bigger packs would be good!

Heck right off the bat they should give us a full remake map packs with all the maps form Halo 1 and 2.

how about no map packs. instead one new map is released each month for maybe little over a year. that way we would have a new map to look forward to each month. that would keep the community even more alive then it is now.

1 map released a month would be equivalent to 3 maps coming out every 3 months.

Yes, when Sandbox was coming out, I thought it would be something on the scale of Sandtrap which, when compared, is huge. The Mythic map pack was by far the smallest. I could understand maybe two of the three being smaller for certain game types, but at least one BIG map to go with pack.

  • 07.14.2009 9:15 AM PDT

well Longshore is going to be a BTB map. hopefully its close to the size of Sandtrap. its going to be awesome tho, and we only have to wait 2 months and 8 days =]

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME GROUP INVITATIONS

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Then it would take more time to release them. No thanks.

Not to mention that cluttering the map selection has big effects on matchmaking. People often gripe about the lack of maps, not even half of them are used in MM regularily so how would they know?

I think the ones that are now are pretty good but we need bigger maps for big team playlists and smaller for smaller team playlists.
