I seemed to always think his leg armour opened up to allow him to holster his weapons there. Perhaps his ammo refills are in the legs too.

Failing that its..... MAGIC. Gandalf and that.

I am the Prophet of Tree's
fear me.

because he can ride a bike with no handle bars, no handle bars, no handle bars

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

The game would be weighed down and become too tedious. Call of Duty is a pretty realistic military shooter and they don't even do that

Actually, no it wouldnt, see, the animation doesnt need to take longer, it just needs to involve the Spartan/Elite grabbing the ammo/grenade. All it would take is to add a pouch somewhere on the model, and have the hand enter the pouch, then spawn the object in the hand.

Actually, in Halo CE, the chief had a belt of pouches, so I don't see why they don't use it.

Why is his gamertag thatlolguy?

Well quoting what Bungie said about how does Johnson have an HUD, the answer is simple...

It's a BLAM!!!
Video game... Moving on.

umm mabye because its a GAME and it doesnt have to be entirly true to life

  • 07.14.2009 2:36 AM PDT

It's also done to be a little more lenient in terms of processing power. Other games that have active magazines and detailed reload animations do so because the realism of that that is a main focal point for the game. Bungie keeps the animations simple, and the objects to a minimum; keep in mind how many of these character models are being drawn at a time (ever see an enemy in the campaign reload?) - Halo 2 dropped ragdoll animations as soon as a certain number of players would be in a game.

How come when the Chief jumps, he doesnt have to bend his legs, and extend, he just floats up into the air.

Time flies like an arrow; fruits flies like a banana.

Realism =/= fun, Bungie goes for fun.

You want realism, play America's Army 3. Its actually pretty fun.

The first game was horrible. I couldn't even make it past training. Third one made a difference though. It made a difference.

=)

Ninjabag the tea-pirates!

I don't want to join your group.

In Halo:CE if you were playing Co-op and left Chief standing there long enough he would start playing with his gun, on 2nd player screen if you looked at him he would actually just be standing there doing nothing.

ever play GRAW? at least the clip drops from the gun. Most games look like the soldier is jerkin off his magazine, oh, and to the two hands full but still reloading thing------Special Forces Operatives are trained to do that. Its probable that a MULTI MILLION DOLLAR SUPER SOLDIER would be trained as well

Not GRAW, anything but GRAW! To me that game proves that realism isn't fun.

I believe that it may be because Master Chief is made of cheese. His guns fire gorgonzola and therefore he can just shake cheese off his arms and into the gun which would explain the strange motions he makes when reloading dual weilds.

Please don't make silly statements like that.

I agree with the poster. plus what's up with all of these shields and space ships. And the aliens? There are no such things as aliens. We should be flying bi planes and shooting lugers at -blam!-s

Wow this has turned into a total flame fest. I was thinking out loud when I made this post and thought the community would be open to a new SIMPLE idea.

Realism not only isn't necessary but it also would slow the game down. Lets leave Halo as is. Its not a realistic game.

Please refer to Robt McLee's quote in this weekly update for any arguments on realism in Halo:

You do realise that you can't go further than the 60th minute in an hour right?

Yeah ok, maybe not in Canada...

the real question is :
how can mc/elites thrust forward (or even upwards) WHILE they're falling down (after a jump)?

Simple. The weapons used to attack while thrusting forward have a magnetic attraction.

how can mc/elites bunny hop?

Who can't?

how can mc/elites constantly run and have a steady aim?

Augmentations.. And the elites have already been posed as a near equal to the Spartans in physical strengths. Mentally Spartans whoop ass.

how can mc/elites literally jump while spinning around and land no scope headshots?

Same as above.

my point is : bungie doesn't give a fu*** about realism...

Bungie does give a fu** about realism. There is just a limit to how realistic a game can be before it is no longer Halo. Besides many of the things Bungie used in the games are backed up with some story. Read the books, they will blow your mind.

Realism and balanced gameplay do not mix. Being able to move a bit whilst in the air is good for gameplay, lunge is good for gameplay, being able to flip a supposedly 70-ton tank is good for gameplay, assassinations from being insta-kills are good for gameplay etc yada yada.

If Halo was utterly realistic it would not be fun. Snipers would be able to take out vehicles, Spartans/Elites would have to adjust their shields and would not withstand a lot of damage, ammo clips would have to be stowed etc.....

A little imagination is needed to fill in the gaps, i.e. how Spartans reload their guns

How right you are, because we all know how important realism is in a scifi game right? Right!?!
