The new features were great; like Forge, Theater and the Fileshare. Its the overall gamplay. It feels slow and there is way too much aim assist and melee lunge. Dual wielding made the weapon set suck and equipment promoted camping. The only effective way to kill a vehicle is with a power weapon. To many bad changes. Bungie came up with the good features in Halo 3 on their own.
They also came up with the bad features on their own like super short and bland campaign, Halo 2's campaign was the best, you could play on both sides and the story and battles were always epic. Also camping is a legitimate stratagy(to a certain extent EX, camping the spawn isnt), but it sucks for people that dont know how to deal with it. vehicles can die easily with a plasma or grenade, one time the enemy was driveng over to our side on standoff and my entire team shot at it with BRs and flipped it over gunning down all the passengers, dont say the vehicles are to hard to kill, duel weild weapons have some faults but still work great if you use the right combos like SMG/Mauler, also duel SMGs own most vehicles if you have no heavy weapons. anything else?

What you may believe to be great is certainly not what others do. Usually, developers are inspired by simple ideas by their fans, and other sources. They don't necessarily look at something and go "Oh, let's do that - someone print this out as reference"
Naw you think? Thats what this list mainly is, base ideas for bungie to work with, i know im no game developer im no where close to being one, i dont want to be disappointed as i was with Halo 3, they could have done alot more for Halo 3 but didnt so i started on the list with the help of other people that want more for Halo: Reach

They dont NEED this list i just hope they use something from it in some way, why are you so against it anyway? arnt any of these ideas good at all to you?

Not really

- 24 players provides too much strain for the average connection. 16 is already turmoil in most cases. Halo games tend to have a better feel to the game when played in smaller teams, anyways.

- Halo's multiplayer is too sporadic for bots to have any sort of correlation with the way the multiplayer plays.

- Destructible environments are too much to handle both hardware and server wise. Don't dare compare BF:BC's Frostbite engine, that's way too scripted and requires a different style of mapping.

- Squad-based gameplay does not suit Halo's multiplayer. I will not go into detail on that

- It's hard to increase the item capacity for Forging because most of its limitation comes from hardware and engine issues.

- You can't just throw in all sorts of weapons and vehicles and expect them to all function well with each other. It requires a lot of tuning and testing, and some things just don't plain work, especially when you start factoring in the way the maps are meant to be, and are meant to be played.


I could keep going, but you get the point. You need to consider many factors when creating ideas. It's not just about what sounds best on paper, but what would work best in practicality. Game companies come up with many, many ideas, but they condense them and cut out a lot until they have a good, full-fledged system of ideas that they can create, work until proper, and maintain.

I could keep going, but you get the point. You need to consider many factors when creating ideas. It's not just about what sounds best on paper, but what would work best in practicality. I realize that and have made many points to it as well, those last 5 things i wouldnt mind if they werent in the game if they were it would be a bonus for me and other players, but most the time 16 players doesnt even fill a map like avalanche enough, its just both teams fighting in the most open or most choked areas. What im wondering is how does the PS3 game M.A.G. work with 256 players in one game yet Halo cant go past 16? and even COD has 18 players, Halo has been playing with 16 players for every single title(cept Wars ofcourse)even it wouldnt have to be 24 player ALL THE TIME just on custom games and certain matchtypes like you can only have a 16 player party in big team battle.

The pistols in the Halo games are already magnums. In the future I would think revolvers have no place in the military.

The pistols in the Halo games are already magnums. In the future I would think revolvers have no place in the military.

The PS3, as far as I know, uses dedicated servers to host all online games. It's what allows M.A.G. to be possible. There's no way you could fit 256 connections onto one player's average internet speed.

Halo has been playing with 16 players for every single title.Halo having 16 players is also a design choice, not just one factored by bandwidth. As I mentioned previously, it's all about the way the game plays, and the number for Halo hits the right spot.

Destructible environments are unneeded. They would alter the gameplay and map design in a negative manner.

Being squad based will only slow down the gameplay and the speed has already been severely crippled.

The bubble cloak makes no sense in the Halo universe and it would ruin the gameplay because it would be massively overpowered.

16 players is fine. The weapons on map wouldn't be able to support more people and too many people would decrease the need for individual skill. 16 players just allows the proper amount of fun in the gameplay.

Weather effects shouldn't be able to be changed. Each map should have its own unique environment and different weather each time takes away from that.

It is literally impossible to make bots that could function well in the Halo gameplay. The vertical aspect of the game can't be mimicked by some AI.

Those are just a few.

Well then they need to make the maps better so it doesnt come down to both teams slaughtering each in a single area over and over again, they need to bring blood gulch back and headlong preferbably

That's called map control. That's the point of Halo. There are points on the map you need to control to win the game.

That's called map control. That's the point of Halo. There are points on the map you need to control to win the game.
yes but the points are either too spread out or theres one point that screws over the rest

Really now? so you want them to just make the game how ever they want by completely ignoreing everything the fans wish to put into the game?
Also this list is mainly like a reference to give them ideas to use in the game, ofcourse bungie will do what ever they please but we hope to somehow "pursade" them into useing at least some of these ideas, if they just make another copy paste of halo 3 then they will kill the hype and lose many fans, they have to make the game different but still feel like Halo


Halo CE was by far the best of all the Halo games. Guess what? They had no fans to listen to. An idea seems great in theory but when it is implemented into the game it may not be, so just because you want it doesn't mean its a good idea. Also many of the ideas on these forums in no way fit into a Halo game or the Halo universe. Let Bungie do what they want to and we will see a good game.







Like Halo 3??? c mon BULLET, don't lost your mind in Halo CE, forget about it.

but anyway.. only the campaign ideas are good, long story and all that... anyway, I know that Bungie will add that it is inevitable they will come back to Halo 2 style (but more emotional and violent) thank god...

Wow are serious? The things I've seen you post are more than a "little" change. Class based online in any form isn't little. Besides equipment sucked, all it did was enhance camping. It was essentially a nice comfy tent and some marshmallows.

I realy like everything up there, and I noticed you considered having a squad system and I've been thinking of one myself.



Squad Sytem Updated


If we get larger multiplayer like 32 vs 32 I think it may be interesting to have squads. I know we don't need squads, but that's not a reason. There's alot of stuff we don't need in Halo like dual wielding and a map editor. They're just cool additons. There would be 4 squads on each 32 player team. In each squad 5 players and their 3 squadleaders. You and your squadmates waypoints are white, and your squadleaders' are blue. Teammates that are not in your squad don't have waypoints to you unless they have the flag or whatever. The squads have names like Alpa, Delta, Beta, and Omega. The squadleaders can press right on the d-pad to go into private leader chat with the other leaders on their team. They would probably only use it in situations like when they're losing a game of multi flag. They would probably have some squad leaders have their squads guard the flag while one squad stealthly tries to take the enemy flag. The squadleaders can also kick players from the squad and team if they keep betraying or whatever. They can only kick players from they're squad. They press the back button to pull up the squad menu and press (y) on a player they want to kick. All squadleaders on a squad have to press (y) on a player to kick them. When you are kicked from the team you lose all your points and don't gain points in the game. You are a enemy to everyone...basicaly on your own. The squadleaders can let you back on the team if all of them presses (y) on your name again. The squadleaders wouldn't nessesarily abuse their authority because they loses 10 points and 1 exp for each player they have to kick. At the end of a game the squadleaders can press (y) on player to award 1 extra exp except themselves of course. Again all squadleaders have to press (y) on that player. Squads wouldn't be for all playlists. If all squadleader quit in a squad game they lose 2 exp and all players who were kicked off the team rejoin. No new squadleaders will be chosen for that squad. In customgames you can choose how many squads and players in each squad. You can also name the squads and give each squad different player traits. Heres a idea you can make it so each player is their own squad and give each indivisual player different traits. Wouldn't that be cool?
