Imagine being able to drive scarabs in Multiplayer. It would be a modified version of the Halo 3 Scarab, only, with maybe a few turrets or something, so that people could ride on it. Destroying it would be the same as in Halo 3, and after destroyed, the respawn time would be about five minutes. What do you think? Do you think it would work?

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

1st, don't advertise groups. Secondly, are you insane?

I wasn't advertising a group. If I was advertising a group, I would say "HEY JOIN THIS GROUP". I just simply posted it because it was relevant to the topic.

And why do you think I am insane? If they made a map big enough, I think Scarabs would work.

How would scarabs work exactally, walk me through this please.

stop with the unuseful comments please, but you are right, a Scarab is to much power for multiplayer, or maybe it will be very weak, it depends of the IA, I don't see the IA working in multiplayer...

I am not posting un-useful comments. My comments are spose to make the OP think how un-reasonable he/she is being.

If you think a Scarab is a good idea, then you honestly haven't thought through the idea very much.

That is like me wanting Frigates in multi-player. It is just not going to happen for multiple reasons. But I want to be humoured, so I really want to know how the OP expects Scarabs to work.

  • 07.13.2009 10:01 PM PDT

No. The Scarab is a very clunky vehicle. I don't see how anyone can have fun controlling such a slow vehicle.

RAWR!

5 min respond! god damn the enemy team would be in that thing the whole game! one team would get in the scarab camp, and before it blows up they would all go hide for another 5 minutes. then right back to the scarab. i think thats the worst idea ever! maybe for campaign MAYBE! but thats it.

Maybe they can make the scarabs bases, or an NPC that patrols the map, and the players have to fight each other and join forces to stop the Scarab.

I don't see how they would work in any Halo multiplayer mode I can think of. You'd probably have to come up with a new multiplayer mode/ specific map just to implement this idea.

And EVEN THEN, you'd have to figure the Scarab would eat up TONS of memory in the game, causing some mad lag.

A Locust from Halo Wars on the other hand, would be completely doable.

It would basically be a win, loss situation for the other team.....

Gigitty Gigitty Goo!

That would be awesome, however they would have to make plasma pistols and power drains
disable it for a short time. And, it would need to spawn crouching down so we could board it.

  • 07.14.2009 12:08 AM PDT

ya an NPC like king of the hill. and the scarabs the hill. or infection where humans spawn on the scarab and zombies spawn on ground. but zombies have really high jump :) so pro scarab. (also I think the map would be like a circle a big circle and looks a bit like the campaign levle the covenent) but it would have to be an NPC, or if you could drive it take away the scarabs main cannon.(the gun on the front) but on the other hand the idea is impractical. :( and it would have to spawn crouching down. and the map would have to be huge like the size of a small campaign
levle.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

This would be sick, but only on maps large enough to support Elephants, Pelicans, Phantoms, Spirits, Longswords, and Seraphs.

"These" maps are way to small and way to bumpy for a Scarab. The Scarab is the largest vehicle in the series (not counting Ships) and for that we'll need new maps that have a decent amount of cover for ground troops but yet that cover does not interfere with the Scarabs range of movement.

If you've ever played Halo:CE (Custom Edition...not the 1st one) Coldsnap is a perfect example.

I'm a lead farmer, mother lover!

The only way I would be ok with this idea is if there was a gametype dedicated to holding control of the scarab. Think King of the Hill, only the Hill is the scarab. Responsively the opposing team could hold down different vehicles and bombardment types. It would be a kind of fun Pirate-esque game. Thats the only reason I'd say allow a scarab.

  • 07.14.2009 8:25 AM PDT

God this is worse than flying Pelicans.

Please, people should stop going on about using Scarabs or Pelicans in multiplayer. Trust me, it will not happen and even if it did, it would have many drawbacks. Plus, the idea is just stupid in my opinion, so the answer is no.

I'd like to see a game mode were each team must defend an AI controlled Scarab. Controlling the Scarab would be too hard to use, it would be practically impossible to hit someone with the scarab beam.

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

No. No scarab. Would be waaaay unbalanced, and too overpowered.
