Personally I don't think that having any of them playable makes any practical sense, none of them are made for this type of game. Having a couple of them featured would work out, but only the practical ones. My picks would be Woverines and Locusts, since these two make sense.
I agree to an extent. I believe that some of the vehicles can be slightly retooled to be playable in a FPS like Reach (especially the 2 you mentioned). But as far as other vehicles go I think that it would be great just to see them make a cameo of some sort. I believe that would add validity to the cohesiveness of the Halo Universe.
I understand where you are coming from, but the issue of practicality still prevails. The Halo games (excluding Wars) have arial gunships (Pelicans can be fitted as such), as well as Long Sword interceptors. There is no need or purpose for a heavy gunship to be shoe-horned in for the hell of it. Same goes with Covenant Vampires, who's existence is negated by the prescence of the Banshees.
The thing to remember is that these units were built around the premise of balance and counter balance that exists within an RTS. The main games that take place in a more "military practical" world, would have no need for these specialized units.
The only reason I feel a Woverine and Locust wouldn't hurt as cameo's/NPC vehicles is because the Locust would be a great precursor to the Scarab (not seen origionally until Halo2) and the Wolverine is a dedicated AA battery, something that has never been available to the UNSC until Wars.
