Subject: Bungie Points: Digital currency for Bungie.net downloadable content

There's a word for what I am, but I can't pronounce it.

BFA, CCS - olde and bony & one minute musings.

Why, this is the best idea I've heard all night! Give that man a cigar!

I'll just leave this here.

Oh looks, it's an elf (the third).

If I had one wish for Bungie.net, it would be to be able to change my username. Even if it cost me Microsoft Fun-Money, Space Bucks, or Stosh Dollars. That is all.

I thought we clarified this. That's an elf. Not an Index.

So if Index=/=Elf. And Elf=/=Tall. And Tall=Basketball Player. And Basketball Player=American. And American=/=Alien. And Alien=/=Robot. Index is the Alien, and not Bungie? Bungie is robot. I get it now.

I don't.

Graphics are good, gameplay sucks. Overhyped IMO.

This idea seems to be flawless in its design. Perhaps in time, Bungie Points cards could be sold in your local Best Buy or Gamestop.

Bungie Points would ideally be non-refundable, I assume?

Obviously. Bungie has a serious problem. They aren't very good at being -blam!-s. I mean, they should take some tips from Microsoft. Please pardon me.. I'm trying to start to enjoy this joke. I know I should find this funny but I don't.

Whoa, no one said anything about M$. Where's that coming from? ;)

Several folks haven't appreciated the humor, and that's understandable, it's not the funniest thing. It's sad really. I was simply posting this to inspire the Community to ponder the irony of it all. Many members can relate to how I'm feeling about the subject while others remain unaffected.

Bungie doesn't have to scam their fans to earn money. They earn it by creating software for which we'll pay because we truly enjoy it. In fact, if a system like this was implemented, I'd gladly pay to experience all that Bungie makes available to us, and I'm clearly not alone.

By no means was Bungie Points a serious suggestion, but you all already knew that, right?

To access the Bungie Blog, members would have to pay 160BP. They would of course make it 160BP so you'd have an odd number left and have to buy more BP to purchase anything else.

I see you've been to the Microsoft school of marketing, congratulations on graduating with honours!

I absolutely love this thread. I'm saving it and never forgetting it, ever.
Agreed. Best. Thread. 2009.

EDIT: Besides The Screw, I don't remember if that was 2009 or not.

Great idea, I wouldn't mind spending some money on things that are worth it, let alone stupid things that Xbox Live has, like Gamerpics and what not. (No offense Bungie).

Wait...
I'd actually like this idea. I'd much rather be decieved into giving Bungie, a smaller company, my money than Microsoft, a larger company.

Not only that, but also nontransferrable! If you are paying your hard-earned money, for them, we want to make sure you get your money's worth. Check that; your Bungie points' worth.

This sounds brilliant. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?

They should have us do odd jobs around the site to earn points. Like getting an allowance.
That nav bar could use a bit of a shine. And that search bar looks a tad dusty.
You two are on to something with that.

Why not also include Bungie Pro subscription cards as well, they would come in 1 month, 3 month, and 12 month increments. They would also force the user to pay an extra fee to use the internet, which they already pay for. It's brilliant!Posted by: canman88
I would've spent 100 Bungie Points just to post in this thread.

I'd subscribe, I'm on Bungie.net participating in discussions far more often than playing games on Xbox Live. It's highly unlikely we'd start to get charged for the Bungie.net experience as we know it. Essentially, the benefits justify the cost.

In which forum would you invest to get the greatest return? Is it public or private? Is the Halo 3 Forum trending up or down in today's Bungie Points market?

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Hah! I wish I had read this yesterday. Fantastic idea.

Gamertag - Rdog 11

Call me Rdog, not RdOG or RdOG1507. I made that username when I thought it was cool to use alternating capital and lowercase letters...

Sounds like Microsoft Points! >:(

hmm... If a sixty day card is thirty dollars, that makes WoW cost 50 cents/day. The African child I support costs me a dollar/day. Therefore 1 African child's life = 2 WoW subscriptions.

What are these Microsoft points everyone's talking about? It sounds like they're trying to cash in off of Bungie's idea. . .

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.
