Subject: "Bronze" Skulls

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

By now we have all gotten used to 2 kinds of skulls, Gold, and Silver. Gold skulls make the game harder, and add a score bonus to the end of the game, and Silver skulls are just for fun.

I think if they make Reach VERY hard (I mean Harder than either CE or 2), they should implement Bronze Skulls. What Bronze Skulls would do, is make the game easier in some ways, but drastically reduce the score you earned through the level. Skulls like these appeared in Halo Wars, decreasing your overall score for the level if activated.

What this would accomplish is giving less than adequate players a chance to beat the game on Legendary, and earn the Achievements/Armor/whatever else for beating the whole game, but they would have a heavily reduced score at the end of the game.

As a result, I think the Campaign Scoring Metagame should ALWAYS be active. The total Campaign score you have earned should appear on your public Service Record for all to see, which will include the tally of your best scores on each level, not every point you have ever earned.

Another good means of implementing this would be to change the color of the "Campaign Progress" emblem on your Service Record. The highest difficulty you beat the game on will appear in either Gold (All Gold Skulls active), Silver (No skulls, or any amount of Gold and Silver Skulls active, without reaching all Gold), or Bronze (ANY Bronze skull was active, this will come up WHETHER OR NOT you activated any gold skulls).

This way, if you took the shameful way out, and activated a Bronze skull to beat the game, EVERYONE will know, and any players who beat the game either SLASO or CLASO will stand out.

What do you think?

Time flies like an arrow; fruits flies like a banana.

SLASO? You mean SLASAGSO?

Good idea. More skulls = more variety = more goodness.

Yeah, I guess in Halo Reach if they did this it would be SLAGSO

Remember,
It is easy to be male
it is another thing to be a man.

That is a good idea. It will really help the less able players to complete the game on the higher difficulties.

I agree that the Bronze skulls would be a benefit for lees adequate players, but as master megatron specified would it affect your campaign emblem if you already beat it with the gold skulls on?

No, that'd be weird.

Maybe your campaign emblem thing would only reflect the highest difficulty skull you have completed the game on.
It would not be overwritten if you completed it with say bronze on.
And if you completed it with mixed skulls on it would take the largest amount of skulls active during that run through.

This could become very useful to users in campaign! I agree that this should be in Halo REACH campaign mode!

Ive been gone all day, but to answer all questions about which difficulty takes precedence, if you beat the game with bronze skulls, then beat the game with no skulls, the Silver logo will show. If you beat the game with no skulls THEN beat it with Bronze, the Silver logo would stay.

Once you beat the game with all gold skulls on, the Gold logo will be there forever, as a mark that you are a Mythical player.

Basically, it always shows the HIGHEST LEVEL achieved.

When it comes to seperate difficulties, if you beat the game on Normal with all golds on, then beat the game on Heroic with bronze skulls on, the Bronze Heroic logo would replace the Gold Normal logo.

Not really the way I had planned, the way I have planned is that if there is a SINGLE Bronze skull active, it will show a Bronze emblem (because otherwize you could get a gold one too easily.)

To get silver, just play with NO Bronze skulls

To get gold ALL Gold skulls must be active, with NO Bronze skulls.

Silver skulls are allowed in any case, and Golds can be used to get a silver emblem so long as not all of them are active (as that would trigger gold)

Real life? What is that?
Graphics are good, gameplay sucks. Overhyped IMO.
