Subject: Common sense isn't very common is it?

Okay, so since the Halo: Reach trailer was unveiled a few short weeks ago the Internet's been abuzz with rumors about whether or not this is really Halo 4, whether this is a prequel where you're still playin' as the Chief 'cause for some reason he went back in time when the portal closed and all sorts of other crackpot theories. I'm not saying that they're without basis, i'm just saying people are lookin' at this thing either too hard or just not lookin' at it at all. So for those of you who are, for lack of a better term, handicapable in the brain area (like how I dodged the word "stupid"? oops, sorry), here is a list of some of the rumors I've heard over the past couple weeks and why, in my view, they are wrong (using what I've gathered from the E3 trailer, the special Legendary ending to Halo 3 and lil' snippets of information I've gotten from a friend of mine who collects info on video games religiously).

Halo: Reach is not Halo 4.

It has been in the works since E3 of last year at least when Bungie announced they were working on Halo 3: ODST and two other secret projects.

The trailer was unveiled two days before Microsoft announced they'd fired Gearbox and come back to Bungie with an extremely generous offer if they'd do Halo 4.

The anonymous marine in the trailer says, "...it's them," referring to the Covenant not, "...it's him," which would refer to the Master Chief.

The ship orbiting Reach that's been cracked in half is not the Chief's. If you remember from the end of Halo 3 the front half of the ship ditches into one of Earth's oceans with the Arbiter inside. The back half is left floating above an unknown planet with the Chief sleeping inside. The ship orbiting Reach HAS been cracked in half, but if you'll notice, the WHOLE ship is there.

Anyone who thinks Halo: Reach has nothing to do with the planet Reach need only look at the title to realize how ridiculously, obviously they are wrong.

Alright, we all clear on this stuff now? If you have any complaints to voice or any evidence that what I've said in this post is false, please, by all means contact me via my bungie.net profile. I will be happy to debate with you about what I thought was fairly obvious and noone seemed to be picking up on.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

I must say, good show. It's even been confirmed that Halo: Reach is a prequel (on Xbox.com), and some people just don't listen. Hurray for sense.

people should shut up and quit saying they have evidence of what halo reach is about. do any of you even realize how miniscule the amount of information there is about reach? the only information about halo reach is

its name is halo reach
microsoft confirmed that its a fps
it will be out in 2010
pre orders of halo 3 odst will include invitation to reach beta
its a new multiplayer experiance

thats bare bones information scrapped clean of bone marrow. i dont see how anyone could develop far fetching theories about it.

NO!!! HALO: REACH IS NOT GOING TO BE A JRPG. IF THAT WAS SO THEN THE UNIVERSE WOULD IMPLODE FROM BUNGIES UTTER STUPIDITY!!!

sadly my friend, that probably won't happen. when people get excited about something they can't help but speculate at what it's gonna be like. it's human nature, sad as that may be. granted, some of us r able to restrain ourselves and take things at face value just like we're supposed to, but the grand majority of us get so worked-up over the little scraps of information we're tossed we have to know everything we can about it as quickly as possible. some of the theories we create r based on overexamination of the facts (the ship orbiting Reach is the Chief's and he went back in time for some reason, therefore it's Halo 4). others r based on, really, nothing at all (Halo: Reach has nothing to do with the planet Reach). the best we can hope for at this point is to convince people that all these wild theories they're hearing r wrong, for one reason or another, and that the best course of action is to just take things as they r and wait for the people who actually KNOW what they're talking about (i.e.: Bungie) to say something. and in that way i feel as though i've done my part.

My main account.

This is an alt.

Thanks a bunch. I hope this thread stays on the front page of the Reach forums until release date. At least we won't have too many people bugging us about buying Halo 4.
