Subject: I'm worried about damage...

We've all pretty much seen some Halo 3: ODST gameplay footage. But my problem is that is doesn't seem that different for one reason: The ODST seems to take too much damage!

Even on Easy, once Master Chief has depleted his shields, it doesn't take long at all before he dies. I understand that Bungie might of boosted the damage resistance of an ODST a bit for the sake of fun, but to me, it seems like too much. It sort of worries me, because in the Mr. Sark Halo 3: ODST preview, he said he was still going Rambo... Not good, at all.

Then i would assume most footage was taken on lower difficulties and/or in the earliest stages of FF.

The Videos were demos When The guy was showing of the campaign he got stuck by a grunt and didnt die he was on like god mode or something.
-Heroic is like legendary on halo 3
-Legendary is like two times legendary on halo 3.

Im sure if you play on a harder difficulty you wont be able to go rambo. The damage is like that in the previews because its on easy.

Take a look at Halo 3. Once MC's shield's are completely depleted, even on easy, he goes down very fast. I understand boosting that a tad, but it just looks ridiculous to me.

"The next time you see me, I'll be stabbing you to death! Okay?"

Well if you remember in one of the videos they talk about an endurance meter or something similar to that. It's basically an ODST's version of a shield.

Imagine it like this. You're so pumped full of adrenaline that you don't realize you're taking damage, until you start taking a lot of it. Then it really starts to wear you down.

That's what I'm saying. MC is a spartan, without shields, he's endures even more then an ODST, yet the ODST seems to take as much damage as MC with shields.

Well don't be too worried. The presentation they gave isn't the finished version of ODST. There's still things they're probably tweaking. I understand the ODST is weaker than MC and supposed to die quicker, but the game just wouldn't be enjoyable if you start the campaign and die right away. They're trying to be fair to the consumer with the damage the ODST can take. Not everyone who gets the game will be a hardcore Halo fan. Some will play it casually, and that can't be done if the player dies quickly.

RAWR!

well if it was a campaign demo that had a health cheat on it so just in case he died he wouldnt have to restart from last checkpoint. thats what all the game companies do when they show demos like E3.

The dammage is very similar to halo combat edvolved because ounce your stamina goes down, THEN u lose health.

The jerk store called; their all outa you

i think they just set the helth up super high for the demos... how fun would it be to watch a demo of someone getting killed a lot, they must have fixed it up for little damage so they could get through showing it without dying and going through parts multiple times

why are you looking at this?

im guessing its because the odst's have been shot with those guns before and the master chief has always had his shields to protect him and he would be shocked when he actually feels it.
