It is definitely time for a Halo battle in Space.
All those vehicles(longsword, pelican, frigate, etc.) are just waiting to be driven. The longsword and frigate are mainly space vehicles, and the pelican can fly in space, too. It would be great to have a space battle, or an air battle in Reach. It would be very fun.
OPTIONS:
1.You must take the pelican and transfer troops from ship to ship, in order to have them destroy the covenant carriers.(space)
2.You must take a longsword, and blow up enemy air craft.(space)
3.Use the frigate to destroy enemy covenant carriers.(space)
4.Use the longsword to intercept enemy aircraft, trying to drop reinforcements down to the planet.(air/space)
5. Have an all out war (UNSC aircraft VS Covenant aircraft) with longswords, pelicans, hornets, banshees, and (phantoms or Covenant Dropships, whichever one is used). (air)

Choose one, and post why.

I like all of them, so i chose that.

If I had to choose 1, I would choose OPTION 4 because it sounds sick

Why not give us Space Battles like Star Wars Battlefront 2 has, not saying battles like SWB2 unless Bungie feels that those are good gametypes or type of battles then they should do that and then some. Also, make a playlist for matchmaking where it is all Aerial and Space Battles.

Well I am not against the idea of massive battles in space or the air, I don't believe it should be tackled like any of the options you listed.

One of the major issues here is flying/driving large vehicles.

I always liked the fact that in Halo you felt more like an awesome special ops infantry unit. Sure, you would commandeer small aircraft and vehicles from time to time, but their effect was always on a smaller scale. The most extreme examples of this, of course, are the tanks. But I think that's as big as it should get.

Actually, I find that I'm more invincible without pants, which is why I am not wearing any at the moment.

Sounds cool, but is there going to be that annoying vehicle re-spawn delay? That could ruin the whole thing.

UNSC Frigate against Covie Carrier hmmm? Unfair fight it is.....

I am of an open mind and I am willing to hear criticism. Also: That's stupid and you're stupid.

I would like it if there were multiple Frigates versus the Covenant Carrier.

You don't control anything, but it would play like Star Wars:Battlefront 2. Each Frigate equals the same thing to destroy as much as the Carrier would. Like 3 engines for the Carrier and 1 Engine for each of the 3 Frigates, and other things like shield generators.

To destroy the Ships, you would have to take a smaller ships to get inside and around the ship or destroy the outter side of the ship.

EDIT: Wish I could explain better, but I'm tired and I forget how that game worked out now.

[As of October 2012]
2013 ADFA Officer Cadet of the RAAF (Aerospace Engineer Electronics Officer).

2, 4 or 5 <i voted 4> because I think transporting with a Pelican would be boring and if they wanted to make frigate battles then it'd be a bit awkward as you'd shooting a target in the distance then waiting 30 seconds to fire again whist trying to dodge near-undodgable plasma bolts that destroy your ship after 1-3 hits.

Longsword would be the best because it's agile <just think of when they opened up that gap in the Covenant cruiser in Halo 2 for John to plant the bomb> and have enemy aerospace craft that are similar in performance.

But if they wanted to go completely canon then <as a pilot, not spartan> you would be doing option 4, attacking Phantoms / Spirits, mainly because Seraphs are known to pwn Longswords and against a carrier, etc without nukes is near impossible.

Actually, the longsword one is okay, you could stay as a spartan, etc but as long as they make it interesting like having to navigate past ships that went close range to eachother as well as debris floating around.

Space battles would probably be a little odd...
What happens if you climb out?

But large air battles integrated into normal missions would be really nice.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

I like the idea of air/space battles, but not of ships like the long/short swords or driving pelicans. I'm happy to stick with hornets and banshees. I wouldn't mind seeing the airships from Halo Wars integrated, though.

That is a very good idea but it is not original

they need to make a gametype for it like a raid where you have to board the ship and take the blueprints to something.

Somewhat like 1-flag

Voilà!In view,a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity,is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

that wouldn't be an option or auto pilot would take over like Battlefront 2

ODST MOTO:Feet First Into Hell

how about a land air battle,on ground you got tanks and warthogs and cov land vehicles, and air you got pelicans hornets and smallswords(longswords would kill everything)and some of the cov air vehicles and on a map like coldsnap(map on halo custom edition)

battlefront 2's space battles seemed cool at first( who wouldn't want to destroy a huge spaceship with an x-wing/assault it?)but just sucked after the repetitive battles, i would definitely hate to see bungie use the same kind of format for Halo: reach.

  • 07.18.2009 7:55 PM PDT

I would choose option 1) but while your transferring troops to a carrier, your pelican gets hit buy a covenant banshee and blows up the "wings" of the pelican and troop door sending troops flying out into space and crashing into the hangar where you must survive and eventually destroy the covenant ship. or something...
