hell yea! i think that the storyline NEEDS to be written by Bungie however, because they know what they're talking about a hellava lot more than anyone else. i also think that if it's gonna be CG, then the original voices that were in the game need to be used.

This is very doubtful.. halo as a movie?
i love halo, yea, just like all of u. and i also have asked myself, how would it be if this game made it to the big screen.ive imagined things so incredible, that ive convinced myself that it would be wonderfull, it would be beautiful, and the thing is, it would be wonderfull, and beautiful...if it fell into the right hands. theres a lot more to the buiness than it seems, theres alot things that can go wrong, for example, this project landing in the wrong hands, people points of view involved, that have no concern or interest in halo, and just plain greedieness and corruption involved in the movie buisness. so its kinda hard i think to make this leap, and we all trust bungie, to make the best desicions, if this ever did get off the ground, and into production..but i think it is doubtful..if this did happen, this event could bring alot more halo players to field, and that in itself would be great for bungie, i mean, we would have a bouncha newbeeis to break in..but anyways, bungie knows best, for the monster theyve created..

"Combat Evolved" ....yes halo would make a great movie but not the storyline in the game. The first book and the third would be great. I say get Brian singer to write and direct or James Cameron. Singer has done A great job with the X-men fims even having never been a fan of the comics before he made the movies. James Cameron would be great but I know he would write the story as he saw fit. He would never relinquish control plus it'd cost 600 million dollars if he did it. I think it should be a live action film audiences and generally speaking people in hollywood take it more seriously as a means of expression. I think never heard of actors would be the best route. What have "stars" done to "Star Wars"? I actually think M. Night Shamylan would write an awesome script because to him story is central. my two cents

once a halo movie is made i shall make a cult for halo!!! (heh heh just like how they made a religion for star trek on futurama heh heh) and if i succeed my life would be complete...

personally i think the halo movie should be animated... not starring the terminator as MC

A movie would be awesome! I think that as long as they stick to a really good story line the movie would be awesome animated or not. But, they have got to stick to a good story line and make sure that there is good acting or good voice stuff. I would be happy with an animated Halo film that looked like the graphics in the Halo 2 Trailers. In my oppinion (as well as most I think) the first three Star Wars films were the best and they did not depend as much on special effect and such. They stuck to a good story and good actors, as long as they can do that with Halo I am all for it. I think some movies are too wrapped up in the special effects that the rest of the movie is kinda bland. Just make the movie awesome all the way around!

I like the concept of a movie, but here is what I think about the other failures that have occurred:

1.)Don't do a storyline that has already been done, unless you're Steve Jackson. Major mistake with a lot of movies, because the producer always wants to screw with what already worked. Do a new storyline.
2.)The game isn't all there is. The Halo games and books have created a whole universe, history, political and military scene, etc. There's a lot of material to find in that world. As an extension of this thought, PLEASE get off the first-person viewpoint thing. That would so screw up a movie. However, a few uses of it, like when people are sighting through a pistol, sniper rifle, or missile's scope, might not be a bad idea. In which case, actual game footage would be okay, provided it wasn't overdone.
3.)CG is good, live action/CG is better, and anime won't do it justice. The games are set in a reality that looks as real as ours, so having it suddenly jump to an anime world wouldn't feel right to me.
4.)MC is too good to be true. Don't get me wrong, there is always a place for heroes, and MC is definitely one of those, but the story should focus on the marines around him, or even better yet, about the machinations behind the war. If MC must be used, make it a cameo.
5.)Game CG is nice, but it isn't quite good enough for a movie. Check out stills of Flood. They don't have the detail for their flesh that would be needed for a movie.
6.)Flood, Covenant, and MC should be CG. Everybody else can be live.
7.)Voices should be done by the original actors for all characters already created.
8.)Shwartz/Diesel/Lundgren are all bad choices. They all have their places, but they should be in strictly action roles, and even's MC's role is a bit more complicated than "See, shoot, kill, rinse and repeat." No suggestions for who could do it better, though. I think a more critical question is, "Who would direct?"
9.)Shayamalan is a good choice, and if Peter Jackson could take a script and make it into a movie exactly according to Bungie's storyline, he would be good. (I sorta doubt many directors would be willing to have so little control of their movie, though.)
10.)Bungie should have full power of veto on everything from script to casting, to filming, to cutting room.

Now, let the flame wars begin.

I have always thought that a halo movie would be awesome. But like all of you worried that it would get ruined by hollywood. I think Micheal Bay would do a awesome job if I had to pick a director. If he understood what Bungie wanted out of the movie. If Bungie was associated with the production. But even if it were to be made into a movie it would probably not be for quite a while. Bungie's doing great with just the games for now.

The idea of a Halo anime movie disgusts me. Anime can stay in Japan for all I care. I'm sure the public doesnt want to see a pokemon MC running around shooting things. And thats what a Halo Movie needs to be. Not only accepted by fans of the series, but accepted by the general public as well. Thats what makes The Lord of The Rings movies so amazing. Taking a story that previously was only available to people who wanted to spend a year reading 3 extremely long and drawn out books, And turning it into a phenomenon that the general public accepts and loves.

Now, to make Halo acceptable by anyone who is not a fan of the series (like such people exist) You would have to do it right. That means no CG and no game footage. The only people who will want to see a movie made entirely out of CG, are either video game fans, sci fi fans, or halo fans. And lets face it, every single Halo fan is gonna go see a Halo movie no matter what it looks like.

I'll agree that most video game movies suck. Resident Evil was destroyed by Paul Anderson. If they had let George A Romero make the movie, as they originally intended, it would have been a great classic horror movie, instead of a -blam!- action/sci fi B movie. So the director definately matters more than almost anything. In making a Halo movie, I'm sure that there are more than a dozen willing directors ready to take the challenge. I mean, the concept of the game is just so mindblowing that Hollywood would love to get there hands on it.

I think that Bungie should have full freedom to write the screenplay. And thats It. With that, they control everything that is said, and everything that happens in every scene of the movie. As far as Actors are concerned, there shouldnt be any really big names in the movie at all. It should be done George Lucas style. Taking little known actors, giving them big parts, and turning them into superstars (I.E. Harrison Ford).

Production Team is Simple: Bruckheimer. No one else can do a movie like he does, plus, he can make it sell. As for directors, Lucas is free as soon as Episode III is done. But that would be pushing it, and he does way too much. Anyone who said Shyamalan, would be committing Halo suicide. He writes, produces and directs. No one should have that much freedom when it comes to a videogame movie. Michael Bay would be great, and i think he could make a great movie without adding much romance, plus he is king when it comes to action sequences (I.E. Pearl Harbor). John Woo is also a great choice, plenty of combat, plenty of hand to hand. Just think of a MC vs Sword wielding Elite scene shot by John Woo. Now thats Film Making.

Another amazing director to think about, one who is great with space scenes, sci fi action, and just an amazing film maker all together...James Cameron. Titanic may have scared most of his sci fi fans away, but hey, the ship did look good. And lets not forget Terminator 2, or Aliens. A film from which Halo is practically built on. There are plenty of good directors out there, and Halo would definately need a good director.

I think the film would need to be aproached just like the game. It would need to take about 3 or four months to film and be in Post production for about 2 years. It would have to be done right, and it would have to be given all the time and money needed to create an oscar winning blockbuster. There will more than likely be a movie made out of Halo. The Game is too good to not make a movie out of it.

Yes a Halo movie would be great as long as they don't make it an cartoon show or somthing XD. I reccomend an animated 3D movie. Sticking to the story line of the video game. But if they use actors, definetly hire Micheal Jackson, you would need 1 less covie costume!

Here's a quick idea... How about a live action flick with MC and the aliens CG like Gollem in LOTR. It would take less time to create than a complete CG movie. However, as much as I would like to see a Halo movie made, there is one delema... The Chief has no face! In a video game this is fine, but in a film it makes for a pretty borring character... Hmmm, well then again neither did Darth Vader...

Definetly.

I personally think that CG would be he way to go, because then you don't have to wory about picking the right actor, not as high of a budget, realistic looking aliens, blah blah blah.

But, if you could do all that right, live- action would be awesome.

I think anime would make it too cheezy in a Dragonball-Z sort of way.
We are in america, not Japan after all.

Anyway, I think we can look for a Halo movi in the near future.

And bet your "bottom dollar" (for lack of a better silly phrase) that I'll be there on opening night.

HALO forever,

CG is the best choice, i saw a entire CG film once and my mom came in and thought it was real action. HALO is so popular the LUCKY movie industry that does it will get ALOT of money. The plot of the story could be a before HALO movie or an after HALO 2 movie, with an new enemy or suomthing different.

I fully support the HALO movie.

My buddy Kyle (Master K) and I have been discussing a Halo movie for quite some time. He plans on going into the movie business himself as a director.. infact we're going to college in a matter of weeks and his major revolves around the visual arts, so this is good. As partners as Director and Producer, we discussed how the movie would be (live action, except for some of the difficult scenes such as space battles and such which will require CG). We also talked about actors, and how many movies to make. We decided that if one should be made, that it should be made based on the books, rather than the game itself. The script written by Eric Nylund, author of "The Fall of Reach" and "First Strike", since the books give you more details of marines and other mission accomplishments outside of the main "MC shoot 'em up" attitude the game merely offers. Now.. not many games have made good movies in the past, but Halo is one of few with an actual plot, in depth characters, and enough information for sequels (First Strike and Halo 2) and even..no... especially (yes, that's the right word) a prequel (The Fall of Reach). Now obviously seeing that we're college kids, it wouldn't be prepared for quite some time, but we believe that if after several years, Halo will develop into a classic game, rather than the highly popular smash hit it is now. Once Halo ages (like a fine wine), it's flavor will grow in new directions and perhaps Bungie may want to expand and make a movie in the later future.
Should anybody at Bungie feel like me in the next few years, contact me or Master K, we'll be waiting... for our degrees that is.

should halo become a movie. not yet. but yes i think so. after the halo seires is done completly. it would have to be cg. i wouldent want a normal cartoon to start. i.e sonic. halo has potenshal. they would have to do it right. maby a seires of moves after wards like a seconed halo movie. just to keep things fresh. but we cant let halo end. it has to be immortal.
