a halo movie would flop big time for 2 reasons:
1. those not in the know wouldnt have a clue about the rich and detailed back story which sucked us all in, and a lot of the finer more subtle story arcs would be completly lost on them. After all there are three books worth of information, not to mention 2 games, and its only the most hardcore fans who went out of their way to get hold of the literature.
2. story telling aside, what forced us to love halo was the immersion, the feeling that you were almost there, despite the whole space opera glitz, it was one of the most convincing game universes, and thus the most realistic. taking into account your involvement of actually being there, a movie will distance the audience from that participation, so vital to making us love the game, and would leave us with someone elses vision of what the experience should be, not the specially tailored, customised personal ride that game was always meant to be.

this weighs heavily on my heart as i'd love to see a halo movie that does the game justice. its just that my ideal movie would be different to dave's, dave's different to john's, john's different to bill's and so forth.

Definitely live action. I think the story is just too intense to be pulled off in any other form. Too many people just can't really buy into anime or CG. I've seen some posts about it not being realistic enough since it's mostly in space but look at the movie Aliens, that's exactly how they need to do it. That movie was made YEARS ago and it kicked ass! Although I'm not sure if they can re-create the feeling of being stuck with one health bar in a room swarming with covenants and a hunter closing in on you, over and over and over till you get it right.

If it were an anime film then they'd have to do it the way the anime in Akira was. It was such good animation, they didn't have stupid looking eyes or have big -blam!- cros veins when they were angry or any of the stupid anime effects that you see in crappy kids programs. They onley had the lines a couple of times, but they ha dit so the lines were the colour of the background, instead of having red for no reason hen ppl are fighting on a grassy moor.

I'm kinda opposed to Cg, i was dissappointed by FF and i'm really put off by CG now, unless it's earned by playing a computer game
And if it were live action then they'd have to get the big guy that was predator, i forgot his name, GOD DAMMIT. I think he was darth vader too, i'm not sure. But he was tall, tall nuff to be MC.

Yeah but the thing is, Halo has so many fans all around the world, and if they let Bungie write the story for the movie then thet'd write it so that it is universal for all to enjoy.

Viper....getover yourself. I mean that in the nicest way possible.

I dont think Bungie should make a Halo Movie becuase they couldn't actually make it as good as the game...AND YES THAT IS A DARE/CHALLENGE!!!

You're taking it the wrong way because Bungie works with Microsoft. It's n ultimate partnership and nothing can come in between them! They can dominate the video industry any day!

You don't understand how Bungie works...maybe if you took a glance, perhaps an insight into the real creators of Halo--I'm sure you'd change your mind about not making a Halo movie. Anyways there's a 77% vote that people want a Halo movie. trust me majority never losses if they ever have please give me an exact instance where? thanks....

im not saying there shouldn't be one, and im not saying that there should be one, im just trying to figure the goods and bads of a halo movie. in one case there are hundreds upon thousands upon millions of halo fans that would die for a halo movie. then there is the work and the money and did i mention work, that would have to be put into a halo movie.id rather there was one but i can't decide with the goods and bads in my face.

i think it could be done, i think bungie and microsoft could do it, and i think it would suceced, and if they made it i would see it, unless hollywood got there filthy bloodsucking greasy hands on it, then it would suck because they would put some retared love story in it somehow well you know how hollywood screws up everything the pearl habor movie, love story the last samuri, love story they screw up every good story line if there was a movie it would have to be by bungie and microsoft ONLY, NOONE FROM HOLLYWOOD, AND NO RETARED HOLLYWOOD ACTOR PLAYING THE MC OR ANYBODY, ONLY ORIGANL ACTORS maybe the actaual people who did it from the game all the origanal voices from the game thats the way to go if possible and it should folow the book as close as possible maybe have eric nylund there to to help and give ideas but bungie still has full control on EVERYTHING ABOUT THE MOVIE and they could do it how they see fit. if it was done that way i would definatly see it and i think it would definatly work because there is enough halo fans out there to make it a number one hit

Aight. apperantly you don't have this little tidbit of info. How do you think they did starwars? Its called like a blue screen or blue set or sumtin like that. its where they make a little seat for the actors, and it bucks them around depending on what there doing. they use CG and put the background in for the movie. so if there in a pelican, all they have to do is make some seats and computers will do the rest. see, easy, and not that expensive either.
Posted by: cronanthehalofan
wait, there is the concept of the placement, if the cast were real, then were would they film it. if they built a scene that would be exteremely expensive also, and they don't have floating ships and what not in real life. once again, it would be alot of hard work.

if the film was bad and crappy. like they didn't do good, the polls would sink and halo would be humiliated, if thats spelled right.

Well you know the basics of the film wont be that hard. After All, large budget CG projects do well. However, to make it so that it is a perfect blend of A.material and content that will make the diehard Halo fans not think its another Hollywood sellout of something beautiful and B. make it appealing to those not familiar with Halo. Now we already know that anyone who hasnt heard of Halo is a rustic hermit, and anyone who doesnt like Halo is going to burn in Hell being poked by grunts with thorn bushes for eternity. But that still doesnt mean the film will be good. Knowing Hollywood, master Chief will be played by Keanu "the wall" Reaves, and he will do Un Master Chief things and find himself in Un Master Chief situations, all because hotshots in the movie biz think that is what people will want to see. It would be hard to get Halo wrong, but its Hollywood, so unless a strong director managed to get ahold of it and wrangle control away from the mainstream this may not be worth it. I also reccomend that the author of the first and third halo novels, Eric Nylund, be in charge of writing the script. And all the actors/actresses/producers/etc must play Halo. ALOT! like until their hands are blistered and raw and their eyes no longer focus on anything that isnt brightly colored and squaking in a an alien language. But you know these are my thoughts, everyone has their own. See you later, Spacy Cowboy.

I am a big Halo fan but I would have to say no...

The live action eqiv to it would be Star Ship Troopers.. That was a fun film but it didn't do so well.

Hey there are pros and cons to a Halo movie. That I do know of: digital enhancement would take an incredible "lot" of time (if it has to be awesome effets). Then there is the problem of plot. then there is a whole heck lot more..that's okay. I'm sure there are more pros (goods) then cons (bads). I'm begining to think people don't really want a Halo movie. Let me try convincing the majority of you...WAKE UP! TRUST ME! WE HAVE REAL PROFESSIONALS AT WORK. THESE TWO COMPANIES COULD BEAT STEVENS SPEILBERG ANYDAY. WHAT ARE YOU GUYS THINKING OUT THERE! A HALO MOVIE WOULD BE OUTSTANDING. PEOPLE OUT IN THIS FORUM SHOULD GO WITH THEIR GUT FEELING WHICH SHOULD BE FOR A HALO MOVIE!
