if bungie makes a movie then it should be some type of high-budget independent film

Hannah makes some very convincing points about it not being an anime film there. I have to say that I dont really think it should be anime too, but for me more because of the lack of detail that the other two mediums afford. To take the beggining of 'The Silent Cartographer', for instance, CG or live action would both have the intracate detailing of the sand and surround cliff-faces. Anime on the other hand, usually would show these merely as large blocks of colour with a few rocks in the sand and plants growing from the cliffs.
Unfortunately, if anime actually tries to add intricate detail, it often makes the picture look cluttered and disorientating, and to take the case above, too much would already be happening in terms of action and a cluttered picture would distract the audience.
To the guys who are insulting us for talking about a Halo film using the excuse 'Halo will never get made anyway'... have you considered that is actually off-topic? The question was do you think a Halo movie should be made, not will they make a Halo movie, so shu'up. I'm actually enjoying hearing other peoples opions on this, even if I dont agree with them.
To get off topic myself though (heheh), no, my Pakistani friend, I'm not from Turkey. Perhaps I should change my name to 'Crazy New Zealand'? OH YEAH!! CHRIS BUTCHER RULES!!!! A New Zealander has the absolutely guaranteed most kills of the MC ever!!! YEEAA!!!

I definitely have a very "Aliens"-like idea for the movie. Not this simple but essentially Marines battling aliens on other planets in space. That over the shoulder gun the bad-ass chick in Aliens had was the phattest thing ever!! The RV was cool too.

I agree with the statement about the Predator and Alien. They scared the crap out of me and that was at least ten years ago. I know they can do better now.

Do you think the Alien vs. Predator movie will be good? (off the subject, I know)

Who knows? Freddy vs Jason was a LOT better than I thought it would be, although it wasnt the best thing since sliced bread (must... resist... getting off topic...).

Also, I have been playing Halo forever but I just found out about the books when my son (he's 6 and fanatical) and I bought our Halo toys at Game Crazy the other day. Where the hell do I get them? I think I need them BAD!

I'm thinking a Halo movie would be a great idea.. Though like some people said a lot of movies modeled after games have failed miserably, or have been very cheesy. CG and Live would be my top choices. Picking a good director is also important, and since all the books were good, I'm thinking the movies should be modeled after the books. A Trilogy maybe?

I recommend the books to anyone, even those who have never actually played Halo, so well written are they. Well, the second one isnt great, but he didnt really have much to work with in terms of originality anyway. And whoever said that they dont care if the movie had nothing new in it was absolutely in on my way of thinking! Who really cares if you know whats going to happen cause youve read the book... since you havent actually SEEN it, its really almost as good as experiencing it for the first time... in fact, in many ways its better... am I the only guy who wants to see John fight (perhaps not the right word, fight would suggest a degree of even-ness) those ODSTs after he recieves his augmentations?

Most of the materials to make a live movie are there, the armor of course could come from the boys over at Nightmare Armor (http://www.nightmarearmor.com). Though they would have to bulken it up some considering that the Spartans are genetically modified and buff.

If they made one, I vote that they cast Sam Shepard as Cpt. Keyes. I put the Cpt. because I want to differenciate bewteen the guy from Illinois. If you don't know who Sam Shepard is, he's General Garrison from Black Hawk Down. If this has been said, then sorry, I"m not reading through 26 pages of stuff to find out.

And in regards to the above post, they would probably end up pulling an Attack of the Clones, and just do all the MC armor in CG. Because the people they would get to do it would probably be cheap. And dumb.

Everybody in this particular forum talks about the perfet actor that should det aside his role for master cheif. Guys there's only one person right for the job. We just don't know it yet. I mean we need time. We can't just chose a guy out from any movie industry and pick him. I know there's somebody out htere that is perfect. He's just hidden thats' all. Let's make htis fourm the biggest and most infomrative. So everybody keep typing. Anyways is the MOderater of this fourm from the Bungie Comapny!...I mean if he is. We've got our man. He reads all the stuff we write. I was just reading the first page which he wrote. I think his name is reginko. Well something like that. I think he got our message if reads this stuff. So the Bungie people noticing how much we want one has been confirmed. All we have to do is GET MORE PEOPLE ON THIS WEBSITE AND FORUM. ANYBODY WHO ALREADY HAS AN MSN HOMTAIL REGISTRATION HAS ALREADY BEEN REGISTERED FOR THIS SITE BECAUse MICROSOFT HAS A PARTERNSHIP WITH BUNGIE!

JUSTTO LET YOU GUYS KNOW. I'VE READ THAT HALO AND HALO 2 (maybe) are the most interactive and realistic games for it's time. Have you guys actually inspected the walls and the aliens and guns in the game. They give off reflection and the alien ware in the game is amazing. HALO 2 shall be better then doom 3. But yes I again stress a HALO MOVIE MUST BE MADE DUE TO the GAME FACTS.

i think the movie would be better if it was CGI because:

(1) it would stay true to the game.
(2) if you had it as an action shot fim you no with people in it, it would be naff because you would have funny little people trying to cram themselves into grunt suits and they might have to have goasties made of cardboard on wheels. (if it was a low budget film)
(3) if it was anime it would look like south park. ( south park show good, animation in halo film bad)

A few people have been saying that making a halo movie is a risk, because if it's bad it might tarnish halo's reputation. Well I'd just like to point out that that didn't really happen to either resident evil, or final fantasy. They both made terrible movies (they did not sell many tickets) and everyone still loves those games. I mean no one says, "hey, the resident evil movie sucked, so I won't play this awesome game!" The two things are completely different.

The creation of a Halo movie should be decided by how well Halo 2 is made. It seems that if Bungie is able to put everything that they want in Halo 2, then it would be so great that there will be no need for a movie. It would be so epic and grand that the population of Earth would cry as the game's last cutscene ends, because everyone would know that the greatest game– no, legend would be over. The last piece of the puzzle set perfectly in place as the story comes to an end. If Bungie is able to create this holy game, then there will be no need for a movie, because no way will any movie ever come close to the adrenaline rushes, tears, and sweat that you gave while playing Bungie's masterpiece, Halo 2.

Yeah I'd agree with Googadude too. In other news, I think I have to point out that the grunts in Halo are somewhere between 5'8 and 5'10... thats not that small. Remember, they look small because theyre always bent over - and you, as the Master Chief, stand a very erect 7 feet! In other words, it really wouldnt be a case of having to get midgets to play the grunts.
Oh, and Jackie Chan in the MC suit? Well, if you want him in the suit simply because he can move like a cat on fire, I'd have to say that you might as well hire a gymnast to be in the suit, because he would be a lot more manouverable, and cheaper to hire.

Actually, I've changed my mind. I'm opposed to a Halo movie, a game like Halo that's so easy to get into, well controlled and arcady, and yet has special effects that are as good as a an action/sci fi CG movie, what's the point? Especcially since you can enjoy it with friends.

Yeah, but the Resident Evil and Final Fantasy movies didn't keep the characters from the games, nor vice-versa. FF: SW was set far into the future, and had more sci-fi elements than the games. Resident Evil the Movie was Resident Evil in name only, as all it needed was an excuse to have zombies.

What I'm trying to say is Halo the movie would have to be far more similar to Halo the game than Resident Evil and Final Fantasy were to their respective games. Why would you bother with the Halo lisence if you're going to remove the characters and make it a completely different story. Why not start your own series?

Your point is a very valid one, my friend. But think about it, this whole arguement really doesnt work. Whilst its true that if Halo was about Halo and it sucked, people would be put off the game. BUT only people who never played the game, those that played it would still know the game itself was good... even if a Halo movie sucked, I would still know that Halo was one of the most ass-kicking games I have ever played. If a Halo movie was not about Halo and it sucked, well, nothing would change. Y'see? It really doesnt matter whether the movie content is that same basic story or not, because people who have played the games will already have an opinion about said games, and people who havnt played the games wouldnt know the real storyline from a bar of soap, so really, it wouldnt matter what the movies premise was about. Thus, you may as well keep it about Halo.
Err... thats pretty confusing, but I can figure a way to simplify it... Ok... Resident Evil the movie, for example. The people who played the games most likely wouldnt have said "man, that movie sucked, Im never playing another RE game again!!". People who didnt know squat about RE may have said the same thing (minus the 'another' and the 'again'), but even if RE had followed the storyline and still sucked, people who didnt know squat about RE would STILL say the theyd never play an RE game, and fans of the game would still say that whilst the movie sucked, they would keep playing the games.
Sigh... I apologise my friend... I tried to offer an explaination, but I think all Ive done is confuse us both...

Okay now we're going alittle bit too far. Listen Halo is completely based on different oppurtunistic values. You guys are making things more congested then they should be. don't look at the past. Hindsight doesn't help very much. I mean we're more in the future. graphics and storyboards are more complicates but turn out to be a new sense of innovation. Halo is basically a patent, an invention. So will the movie. You guys don't understand how many poeple talk about this movie and how huge it'll hit. I'LL ADMIT I HAD THE SAME DOUBTS BUT I HAD TO OVERCOME IT. LOOK AT HALO JUS ONE MORE TIME AND TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE. I SEE A HUGE FUTURE LAYED Upon HaLO. ONECE AGAIN WE'RE DROPPING OUR SENSE OF VALUE ON HALO. It's DIFFERENT THAN TOMB RAIDER, RESIDENT EVIL, AND EVEN MORE FINAL FANTISY. YOU GUYS ARE TAKING THEIS ALL UP ON AGUYS Opinion. IT shouldn't be that way. TRUST ME...

No, I get ya. But you do seem to be sending mixed messages. One one hand you seem to think that we don't have anything to lose by making a Halo movie, even if it sucks, while you also say that people who have never played Halo (or RE for that matter) may be offput by a bad movie. And I don't think it's just about attracting or alientating fans. A crappy Halo movie will pretty much make it impossible for a sequel to the movie, or any other branching out of Halo into other areas, as most people outside the gaming community would have shunned it. And then the next Halo game would have to follow in the footsteps of the movie, to avoid confusion, and that would infect the whole series. Not to mention a whole lot of wasted money and credibility on Bungie/Halo.

TOmb raider hit the U.S.A at 3 and in the U.K. as 2. Resident evil hit teh U.S.A at 8 and the U.K. at 1. Final Fantasy made the 32 in U.S. and 15 in the U.K. I mean if you take an average out these numbers you'll see that games that become movies don't come out soo bad. HALO HAS SOLD OVER A MILLION COPIES. AND PERHAPS IT'll reach the ultimate mark past the number of music album (thriller) micheal jackson has sold. That'll be the day...
GUYS DON'T JUST TAke someone's opinion. It's what about you also think. THE MOVIE IS IN GOOD HANDS. DOn'T WORRY. WE HAVE REAL PROFESSINALS ON THIS GAME AND THE MOVIE WILL COME OUT TO BE HE BEST IN HE WORLD. JUsT WATCH... I'm going to contact the Bungie team and ask one of them if they'd mind to take some time and spend it on this special forum. OKay...
