hey guys just saw this thread on the front page and thought i'd drop in a few of my own thoughts. that being sed, i read the first and last pages on this thread so don't be jackasses if i happen to state something that has been sed before. peck, i totally and completely agree with you on the master chief thing. i've always thought/sed that his face should remain unknown (in the movie/games) for the simple fact that in the game, that adds to the feeling that you are this super soldier hero trying to save a doomed humanity. and if they do show his face it should be just as you sed, pale, no need for melanin when you spend most of your time in a mjolnir suit. bald, no need for hair... really no need for hair nowadays with us modern folks. and a definite need NOT to be vin diesel. jesus christ, i shudder thinking about it. oh yea, and his eyes should be grey. and that has nothing to do with the fact that my eyes are grey. heh heh. as for the voice, it could very well be the guy who did it in the game, since we're not going to see his face. i say just get a 7 foot tall guy who can move, stick em in the suit, and put the voice in after.
as for star power, which is unfortunately a major factor in any movie's financial well being, could be provided by a supporting cast of, well, stars. every familiar marine could be played by a big actor, cortana, keyes, every role is a slot for a big name.
halo's already got a good storyline (understatement and "DUH!" worthy sentence of the century), so no prob there. and the premise has a good, wide appeal. action fans will obviously love it, hooked at the sight of the first plasma grenade attack. heh heh. sci fi fans will definitely dig it. put the big names and the right hype machine, which the ilb thing has proven bungie can do, and the casual, "whatever" moviegoers, as i call them (the ones who will see anything and go to the movies because theyre the cinema equivalent of a mallrat) will be there. a few mtv spots with whoever the hell is on that garbage channel will draw the "cool" crowd, and of course, the gaming community will be all over it.
and for you guys that think hollywood would inevitably come in and ruin this project, dont worry; bungie has stated in the past that microsoft has allowed them an extensive control of the halo intellectual property. they would be in charge when deciding who directs and acts and all of that stuff. dont ask me where ive heard this, because i cant remember. but i will try to find something linkable after i finish this post and hit you back. and if it seems like i may be trusting bungie too much (possibly, to you), then youre right. theyve given us all so much in halo, the least we can give is our 50 bux and our trust. besides, theyve had plenty of opportunities to make a movie so far, scripts, license offers, paul w.s. anderson (blegh) but bungie hasnt bitten. if and when they do, theyll produce something worthy of our fandom.
