Since the Matrix and Lord of the Rings, I'm a little bit "epic trilogy"-ed out. I seriously don't think a Halo movie should commit to being a trilogy right off the bat, like some of you have suggested. I think you could combine the events from "The Fall of Reach" and "First Strike" into one script. Also, a movie based on Halo should keep in mind that it is simply providing more of a back story for the games, which should remain Bungie's central focus when telling the Master Chief's story. Therefore, I'd see the Halo movie under two conditions.

1- If the story isn't simply a retelling of the events in Halo 1 or 2, but is either based on the books or is a whole new story.

2- There is a scene where the master cheif steals a needler from an elite and drives the needles that protrude from the top of said stolen weapon into the brain of its former wielder. Because that would be awesome.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not (not going to read all postd, I am lazy, I know), but I am sure some of you have noticed.....

The movie "Chronicals of Riddick" has a similar storyline as Halo 1. That is all I can think about when I see that movie, it is almost like they borrowed some of the storyline and then altered it.

Or, am I alone on this one....

Hey, has anyone thought about the fact that if Halo was a live action movie Cortana as projected hologram, would be naked? It doens't matter in the game because she's translucent (see-through) and made of pixels, plus not one continuous body either (pieces).
But in a live action movie...

a live action movie could be done as long as long as the right people were hired to make it. i think that peter jackson did a pretty good job with the lord of the rings (especially since those books are nearly impossible to translate into movies). but like what was mentioned before, the last thing that HALO needs is a love story. i have a personal distrust of CG movies, i think they're all -blam!- up. the final fantasy movie litterally made me stop playing FF games. thats how bad it was. but i guess that if bungie made the whole movie themselves (and theres no reason why they couldnt) then a CG movie wouldnt be bad. i just think that with all the special affect we have now, a live action movie could really work. some people argue that it would be to hard with all the covenant and cortana, but they managed to pull off making the ents, orc's, troll's, and whatnot in LOTR look pretty damn realistic. and who says it has to be all one way or the other- a live action movie can still have many CG caracters (like gollum in LOTR). on a final note, i think live action would be the best way to go as long as they stuck closely to the game (ie, not showing the chief's face, keeping the plot the same, and not -blam!- it up by ading a romdom love story to it.)

they way i see it, playing HALO is like watching a cg movie anyways. so what would be the point of making one for the theatres.

Or maybe it could be a parody.

Halo: Cooking Involved

The story of Master CHEFF who fights off the covenant with pizzas and crepes.

however this movie is made it needs the same (TLC) that halo 2 is having and i highly highly suggest hiring Eric Nylund for help with the script/storyplot etc...

and of course the key bungie employess at the helm/board of directors

only thing im wondering is if a Continuation would make sense cause that would put out a great demand for a third game which no of us know is in the works or on the chopping block
or if like many say want it to be of one of the books. the downside to that would be of course same old story weve read about (--) times then again First strike was da shiznite...:P

Part of the reason I am really interested in the Halo movie is because I am working my way towards becoming a director and I have thought many times about making my favorite video games into movies. But there are so many elements that wouldn’t work.

hey im working to be a movie director also! And i have also thought many times of making my favorite video games into movies!

Anyways i just think a live action movie halo could be really cool if it had a ton of great special effects, and a good story line. and you still could at least use the same voice actors for masterchief and cortona becuase A. cortana woul be computer generated and B. the Master Cheif would be in a suit so you could have one actor be in the suit and another do the voicing(like darth vader in the star wars movies). The CG animaitons would be pretty cool but still in my opinion an action movie needs to be live action. But i would watch the halo movie even if the characters were made out of popsickle sticks so all and all it doesnt matter jus make the darn thing.

Ive heard discussions on a HALO movie for years, i wish bungie would just tell us if they were going to sell the rights to make a movie or not... because im sick of waiting and they need to stop procrastinatng.

I`m working on a Halo movie myself, but it probably won`t be so great compared to a real Halo movie!
If they made it in 3D-animation i would be all for a Halo based movie!

You know what would be cool, if a halo movie wasn't only about the master cheif but also about some random marines and sgt. Johnson. It should also be in cg with all the origonal voice actors who did halo were in there. Oh yeah and no f*in vin diesel as anybody, OKAY!

I'm with scaragh, I don't think that it would be the best idea, unless it was done perfectly, if they made one of the books into a movie that would be bad assed, otherwise they take that artistic point of view bull-blam!- and -blam!- it all up for the real fans. and no cgi bull -blam!- either, that would make it like a game that you can't play and totaly pointless, a sleep time movie, for example that final fantasy movie. . . but totally put like Jonny Dep as a top brass guy, or a pilot hahaha, and I would say Brad Pitt as MC. . . He was a good achilles, who the master chief is some what modled after.

I think it should be a live action set, but the main characters that ppl would remember from Halo that dont wear armor, Sargeant Johnson, for example, would be computer generated. They can make orcs look real in LOTR, so why couldnt they make a computer generated person look real? Then they could make him just like he was in the game. Bungie would have to make the computer generated people though, and Cortana, and aliens. Also, the voices for at least the main charcters would have to be the same as in Halo, another reason why main characters are computer generated. Theyd just use something like the Nightmare Armor for MC. As long as Bungie creates the storyline and picks the actors for characters(or designs them), I think this would be the perfect Halo movie series(they couldnt fit all of that story into 2 to 3 hours).

Someone set up us the bomb
on XBL i'm Gangsta Assasin

a halo movie would have to be anime. CG reminds too many people of "finding nemo" and "toy story". anime, on the other hand, brings in fond memories of trigun and kenshin. i probably spelled the latter wrong, but a lot of people like it. anyway, with anime, all the original voices could be used. awesome.

also, i think the movie should cover the events in THE FALL OF REACH. or FIRST STRIKE, cuz they were better than THE FLOOD.

and it shouldn't be the corny soap opera style anime with the exagerated expressions and the cat-faces etc. it should be like THE GHOST IN THE SHELL or AKIRA. realistic gory anime.

Another idea for the movie might be the explanation of the link between the Marathon games and the Halo games. maybe throw a Highlander in there to tell the story, since they are immortal and he would have lived through the destruction of the universe at the end of the Marathon games. wow. 3 things in one. or maybe just forget the Highlander...i watch too much aqua teen hunger force -_-

A Halo movie would not be as good as the game, so what's the point? It will just give Bungie a bad reputation. I think they should stick with Halo and Halo 2 and leave it at that, they are both great games.
