You have no evidence to support your reasons for removing the AR.
You say it's an overcrowded niche.
The AR is a bread and butter weapon, it is supposed to cover the largest area of the weapon sandbox because of it's role as a starting weapon.
It has longer range than the CQB weapons, while shorter range than the Battle Rifle, Carbine, and Needler.
Melees don't work if you aren't next to them. If you can't use the AR with skill, then you should try. It can be a very versatile and skilled weapon when utilized appropriately.
And on Team Shooting, it is extremely effective with the AR. 2 people with ARs opening up on a target can down it in 4 bursts (~1 second).
The Halo 1 AR = SMG in performance. Do not change it back.
It is a Halo staple, has been there since the beginning, and shouldn't go anywhere.
That is perfectly expressed. For me the H3 AR is an integral part of Halo 3. The only way for Reach to work without an AR is to include a new weapon that covers that niche (essentially another AR) or rejig every weapon to account for the massive gaping hole in the weapon set.
STIS, you can't just say "Remove the AR" without at least coming up with a good alternative. Simply saying "It's no good, fact!" isn't enough.
