Obviously this thread was made to combat the Anti-BR thread, which already makes it lame.
Especially since the OP missed the entire point of the other thread. It wasn't an anti BR thread, its a "lets make things more balanced" thread.
and by "balanced" you mean entirely focused on close range combat?
First, thats not what I said. Second, if you read the thread, despite its title, its conclusion isn't "Remove the Battle Rifle", its "We need to even the gap between the BR and the AR, either by nerfing the BR or powering up the AR". I spoke in defense of the forum user who created this thread as he put a lot of thought and effort into his original post, unlike you.
you seem to miss the point that halo has never and will never have a linear weapon progression
there will always be a utilitarian weapon....without it its just not halo
I never said this either.
Do realize, I am teetering on the fense over this "keep things as it is" or "nerf the battle rifle" issue.
On one side, I'm pretty good at close quarter combat, and I easily have the advantage over any foolish players who try to adapt their medium range weapon to close range combat.
On the other hand, there are many players who lack the abillity that I have and get mowed down by the BR and end up using only it because they have been duped into believing its the best gun in the game.
I'm not sure whether or not to take a "Get better at the game and you can beat them" or a "No, this is wrong, at any skill level the AR should have an advantage over the BR at close range and it should be up to the BR user's skill to overcome this advantage, not the AR user's." stance.
Only time will tell what side I will take. I don't think the BR should be removed, but I find it odd how you feel so threatened by the people who do think so despite the fact that you are doing just the same thing.
Regardless, the decision is not in our hands, but Bungies, and they are smart enough to know what to do.
