Hey!

Last week, I sucked at Halo PC. But then I got this thing that changed my thoughts about halo PC forever. I found a way to play Halo PC with your Xbox controller. Look, all you do is buy this $10 USB cable which hooks right onto your controller's cord, and right into your comp's USB drive. You just download the driver, and then play Halo. Works great! If you want you can read the reviews too.

Here's the site to buy the cord (0.01 cent shipping!)

http://www.consolestop.com/product_info.php?products_id=53

Here's were you download the drvier:

I was always wondering why some people were so much better than me...

(PS. I am not with this company in any way, nor am I trying to advertise this product. I just wanted others to witness the ultimate online experience for Halo PC!)

Everybody knows about this already since every xbox fanboy is posting it off topic!
They only way you would need it is if you have only played consoles your whole life, give the mouse and keyboard a chance thier controll and accuracy is supior. Trust me I have been playing video games for 18 years and have mostly played consoles untill the past year(and still do) I almost play PC religiously now, and have tried usb pads and I cant stand them. However your gaming preferance is fine with me.

I got one of those too...and love it! Just make sure you go into your windows Control Panel and go into the controller setup and give yourself a "dead zone" so you don't walk in game like you're drunk hehe. I gave myself 20 on both analog sticks...your preference may vary. Also, Halo PC doesn't support rumble :(.

OMFG!! AN XBOX CONTROLLER FOR FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS!! HOW TOTALLY LAME!!!!

Well for those of you that played your first FPS (first person shooter) game when Halo came out on the Xbox your mom bought you... This controller should fit nicely with your lack of a good score (heh). Personally My MX710 Mouse and old fashioned 5 pound Dell keyboard (circa 1982 ,and the keys go Ka-KlinK when you push them) are doing fine. I have been using this keyboad since before wolfenstien (the first one) and really enjoy the lack of a windows key. I can strafe and jump and duck and spin and fire all at the same time. I guess having played every FPS game since they were invented most of which I played on PC's ( a few on consoles though). The whole nation of FPS PC gamers cant be wrong..keyboard and Mouse is the choice of champions.

Wrong...the keyboard and mouse is your preference...not the be all, end all of FPS's. If you like it, that is fine. But grow up and don't call others' setup lame just because your preferences are different.

I can strafe and jump and duck and spin and fire all at the same time too with my controller! *gasp*

Hmm, which one would I choose, a pressure-sensitive controller which provides greater control (though knowing gearbox, they probably didn't bother to code this in because they're lazy, and because they also didn't bother to code in rumble support, or to allow you to host games on the internet from behind a LAN, or ....) , or a keyboard and mouse which aren't pressure sensitive? Controller please!

And what's with this "A whole nation of FPS players can't be wrong" crap? There is no right or wrong, it's your personal preference.

Man, that's not cool. Don't put me down, just for playing Halo with an xbox controller(HHAHAHAHAHAHA-how ridiculous!) Halo was designed for Xbox, so it would be nice for some people who love xbox to use their controller in this game.

I agree, people should learn how to respect other's preference for their choice of controller device regardless of who uses what. I myself use keyboard and mouse and I've seen alot of people playing controllers as well. Some are used to it, and others are not, its their custom and shouldn't say anything other then not speaking at all.

I saw a PS2 controller at Game Stop not too long ago that was basically a keyboard with half of a controller on each side. Or to put it another way, it was one big controller with a normal sized keyboard (though a tad smaller) between the analog sticks and buttons. Was actually pretty cool. I hope Xbox picks up something like that. That would be a must for online games for Xbox live that involve more complicated commands and the occasional text message (for the benefit of entering text for the game since Xbox live has voice capability) for games like Everquest, Shadowbane, etc.

A Tawianese company that made the HD-VGA connector for the PC monitor also made a keyboard and mouse for the Xbox. And I have played it using Halo, unfortunately, it required changing the bios of the Xbox so thats the only drawback and probably the way to play Halo 2 if it doesn't go out on the PC.

Everybody knows about this already since every xbox fanboy is posting it off topic!

Not everyone, Geno tiger: There's a newb born every minute. I have had Halo on Xbox for two months, and on the PC for about a week, and did not know you could do this. Thanks for your excellent write-up, Led Zep!

(Heh, heh, heh, Nice to talk with someone of the same vintage: I've been playing from a computer keyboard for over 20 years, and almost never touched a console.)

I offer several more options:

1.) gamers that play Halo on both Xbox and PC may want just one interface, so that they can react instead of taking an extra 1/10 of a second to think.

2.) Some of us make our living at the keyboard. If Carpal tunnel threatens (as it does for me) the console cotroller can offer a lot more comfortable gaming experience than 3 MORE hours at the keyboards.

I am torn, Geno tiger, between the extra control of the keyboard (not proven, but I tend to believe you on that score) and the issues of the physical comfort of the console and the baggage of having to learn two interfaces. For now I will follow your advice and give the keyboard a chance. If it is not ENOUGH better to warrant the baggage, I'm getting an adapter....

One of the few things that kept me from buying Halo PC was that I'd have to use the keyboard and mouse. Now I have to reevaulate buying Halo PC...

Yeah, its rather silly because one of the purpose as to why Halo was port to PC was for the keyboard and mouse other then graphic and multiplayer.

No...Halo PC was made for those without Xboxes and for online multiplayer. Otherwise Halo PC wouldn't support gamepads :).
