Here's my reasons; there are 6 total playable characters. Micky, Romeo, Dutch, Buck, Dare, and Johnson. Everything circulates around the magic number 4, so why not raise the bar? Post what you think, I'm open to flaming, if you wanna do that.

P.S. I have no idea if The Rookie is playable in Firefight, so if that's the case, then let's say no one preordered H3: ODST, Rookie could take the spot of Johnson.

So wait, Rookie is in or not?

And yeah, 7 people would be pretty epic. And then when you hit a certain score, you could call in ODST Reinforcements that sends in 6 or some regular ODST's to come in and spray some Grunts? Good idea?

Eat raw meat.
Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

Then it'd be too easy. Four players is best for difficulty and for keeping the connection good.

How's it going?

Yes, 6 firefight players would be fun but, it will make the game much too easy. Think about it, one person could destroy a very high number of enemies with dying a only a little. Now 4 players will make it an even trade with the mass of enemies coming after you. 6 would give you that advantage to dominate every enemy in the game...

Just think about that while you wonder why I got into context so much...

But then again, remember that ODST's aren't Spartans, no energy shields, dual wielding, or use of Covenant equipment. AND the number 4 is so cliche. You're right about the connection, but remember, at the really high rounds, when Wraiths are constantly spamming mortars at you, Jackals are sniping you everytime you move to different cover, and all the while Brutes and Grunts are slowly making their way towards your squad from all directions. 2 or 3 extra people would really help out with that. ALSO, the skulls that randomly switch add some difficulty. AAAAANNND, 4 vs. however many Covenant there are, I'm guessing like 15-25 on the first round, and just adding on from there. 4 REGULAR ODST's vs. enemies that the Master Chief WITH backup sometimes had trouble with. I think 4 is a little messed up. I think 6 would be more fitting, even 5.

You have been playing Horde Mode a little too much, don't you think?

Bungie's signature Squad is 4, because it is just enough people to die quickly.
If they do not work together, they die instantly.

@SillyMcdilly: True dat.

@Dude above me: Even if all 4 ODST's did work together, here are some scenarios.

IN OPEN TERRAIN:
Jackal Snipers + Beam Rifles = Hell

BEHIND COVER:
Wraiths + Infantry = Even moar Hell

And as I said before, if you try to switch between cover, snipers will tear you up, and Wraiths aren't completely accurate, so if you switch cover while Wraiths are spamming shots, chances are you walk right into a mortar.

Off-Topic:
I got some wedgie issues, any recommended boxer brands? Like that Charlie Sheen commercial.

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

Too many people would cause lag issues. Plus, four people is big enough to hold off the Covenant for a short while, but not big enough to make it too easy.

You make it sound so evil...

I'm kind of big on screenshots. I love taking them and I love looking at what others are capable of, so feel free to send your shots my way if you want some nice feedback!

yeah i think the point of 4 is to make it harder and include more teamwork so 6 would kind of ruin the point imo

A well-built sniper rifle is a beautiful thing. Mine has two separate levels of zoom: 'Up-close-and-personal' and 'Hello-you're-dead'.

Sure, why not?

I think 6 becomes too many, even with the lives system. It would be way too easy in the early rounds, and probably the entire first set (that's 15 waves.)

Well if 4 is hard, and 6 is easy, 5 would kind of be in the middle, don't you think? Like Horde, people can get through 50 waves. In Call of Duty, 4 people can legitly make it to 25ish. I'd rather successfully go through 50 waves with 5 people then have to go through 25 waves twice with 4 people.

Plus, what if you have some really close friends, like for me, I'll exchange my 4 closest friends that I always play the same thing with, with different names.

There's pretty much nothing I don't do with them, and we're on LIVE 24/7, so with those 5, I wouldn't have to rudely exclude someone from the game.

Well 5 is in the middle, it's kind of balanced out.

EDIT: Double-Post due to connection lag >:(
Sorryz.

I'd agree with this. More than 4 players could start getting really laggy.
