Only idiots self-quote themselves.

I was reading something on the Halo.wikia, and the AutoMag has the laser thingymajigger at the bottom of the shooting thingy at the end. Will the laser come into use? Because it would be somewhat stupid having a laser that a lot of people want, but not implementing it in the game.

It's a laser sight. You use the laser on the end of the gun and if something breaks it, it's shows up thicket than the beam itself, letting you know there's something there. It's also a more precise aimer.

In ODST, it's for the same reason as the silencer. To give the game a more spec-forces feel.

Been a long time Halo/Bungie fan, and always will be.

yeah it would suck if they didnt let you use it

Maybe that's what Joe Staten was talking about in the podcast when he said someone was screaming "PRESS UP OR DOWN ON THE D-PAD!!" Maybe up is to turn on the flashlight, like it usually is, and Down is to turn on the laser sight?

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

Acts as the smart link scope to the ODST helmet, I thought?

I've always wanted to use the laser in a game. I've noticed that as popular as it is, it's not that popular. You know what I mean?

I think that's the smart-linked scope.

I think that might be another part of the gun. It is stated it has a smart link scope in it, but it clearly has a laser sight on it too. You can see it plain as day in the Ordinance picture on the ODST project page. Unless it's a tiny flashlight, that's all I could see it being.

After looking at it with the closeup(Link) It has BOTH laser and the smart linked scope. The laser is "stacked" above the scope. That's handy.

I was wondering about that too, I just disregarded it and thought he didn't want to give any spoilers, but then again how could you when you have this. The lack of the D-Pad surprised me, so that'll maybe be it.

To get back on subject, the only thing I really think about the laser is like with Team Fortress 2's sniper, where there's a laser at the end to tell you where you're precisely aiming.

I really hope we get to use the laser. It would be a little redundant with a reticle and scope, but I'd use it for the coolness factor alone.

You don't really need a laser sight when you have a crosshair on screen. The Magnum we have now has a laser sight on it, too, you just can't use it.
