...atleast in my oppinion, is to add a way to block a melee attack. This would probably have to be either a direction on the D-pad or a button combo. When looking at your opponent, if you blocked at the exact time that they meleed they would do no damage and be knocked back a bit (like with a sword clash). Swords and gravity hammers would be uneffected by the block, and would kill you as usual.
This would quite effectively eliminate double beatdown situations, and add to the amount of skill in close ranged combat in Halo: Reach. This would also be more realistic, if somebody ran at you and took a swing at you, you probably wouldn't just hit them in the face as well (unless you happen to play hockey), you'd block them. Spartans have extensive training in hand to hand combat so you'd think that they would know how to block attacks.
Melee attacks could still work to great effect if your opponents timing was off or you got the jump on them, but if you made it obvious that you were running in for a beatdown then you would most likely be blocked and shot.
What are people's oppinions on this? Yay or nay?
