Nice map, I only got to play it once on Bungie Day and the game went by so fast I couldn't enjoy the map to its fullest. I'll have to download it and give it another try.

  • 07.16.2009 12:08 PM PDT

I really like this map. We played a bunch of customs on it prior to Bungie Day. Gotta point this out...

I didn't get to play the map at all, so I will definitely be downloading it now.

$9.99

That's pretty good for 2 hours of music without explosions and people yelling. I don't care if you steal it, but God does...

Why three snipers, two swords, and a flamethrower, eh?

The spawns were terrible on this map. I spawned with the enemy flag literally right in front of me during the Bungie Day playlist.

Anybody want a peanut?

This map sucked hard. I absolutely hated its spawns and routes around the map. The only thing worse than this on Bungie Day was Colonnade. *spits on the ground*

I'm upset that I didn't get to play this in BvW. It looks a lot better than the other Foundry maps I saw.

QFT.

The routes in this map were annoying as well. Colonnade was annoying too because I would get it every time I vetoed.

Thanks to school for teaching us proper spelling and punctuation.

Edit: ...because I laughed out loud when I saw "expeshley."

I like the map, it looks really good but i think the camo side of the map is bare and needs a few more crates or walls for cover as it is a no mans land for anybody who goes for the camo, and i think the flamethrower room is a good place to take the sword or shotgun and defend against, it looks open for camping abuse, ofcourse my xbox was getting repaired during bungie day so i have not played on it but my opinion is purely based from the tour video of the map, so please correct me if i'm wrong about anything

I think it's funny that Bungie had this in the BvsW playlist as multi-flag but that isn't even one of the gametypes the maker actually says its good for. It did not work well for multi-flag and the games were always over very quickly.

OMG - Gaming for the fun of it in the UK and Europe

Good job on the interview Eddy! It's always good to see UK map makers getting some press.

I didn't even know you could discuss like this. Great job Eddy. I remember playing this in its earlier stages, and it has long since gotten better :) Great job, and good luck to you!

The map itself is certainly interesting, but CTF did not work on it due to broken spawns. It looks like it'd be best for Slayer, but the only gametype on it in BvW was CTF, and as such I never got to try it.

I hate to be one to throw sand, but I really had bad experiences on this map. Quite a few other people did as well, based on the feedback in that huge thread I created last week with EXP leaderboards and map reviews for Bungie Day.

The concept of the map was great; it was innovative in several regards, most notably general design and basic layout. The flaws, however, crippled gameplay. The spawning was inconsistent and simply unacceptable. I can't count how many times in both Flag games I played on it someone spawned in the base of the other team, literally right next to the other team's flag.

Something that wasn't an issue of the gametype was the lack of protection or artificial geometry out in the low half of the map. Players spawning on the low part of their half of the map were completely and entirely vulnerable to enemies with a terrain advantage. I don't know if it's possible to change that considering the budget constraint, but it's a point.

The Forging was phenomenal though, and it looks good. Were some of those issues resolved though, it would be a far better map overall. Congrats on getting featured in the Community Cartographers spotlight!

i really liked the map. definitely my favorite out of the foundry maps ( even if that isn't saying much. D: )

the spawns were a problem, but i'm sure they could be adjusted and work. the flamethrower also = win. :)

The video tour is slightley different to the current map, camping abuse of the central room was a problem in the early versions but has since been fixed, If your xbox is back by the next 7 on 7th you will be able to play on all the maps from last time with a few aditions :-)

There was an area in version three of the map (the one that was in BvW) where the respawn areas did not cover which caused the problems, version 4 (the one in the link from this interview) just mised being in BvW and has mutch better spawns and this should be the one in the next playlist.

Me and my ODST we are our own breed, forged from combat and bread from years of battle as ODST. So you can take your -blam!- ODST clan invites and shove 'em. Rookies don't run jack, we do.

I agree with a lot of what he is saying, but I also wanted to add a few more things.

This map was, in my opinion, one of the better maps in the playlist. That being said, I'm hoping that the criticism here is constructive.

I found that when spawning during CTF games you would spawn on the oppisite side rather than your base. I also found there to be WAY to much power in the flow of weapons around the map. Everywhere I went there was a power weapon or two. IMHO this map needed a lot of revision before we got the chance to play it, a lot like the other maps played.
