In Halo CE. I just got halo pc a few days ago pumped up and ready to play. But when i go to CE hardly anyone is there. Whats up with that? Where you halo players at?

BTW, Where can i get maps with cool weapons on them? I mean not the regular halo weapons but special modified weapons.

Few people know about CE, few have it, few care, and even fewer are on at all. You can see me on there for about 1 hour a day, if I can actually sneak that into my schedule.

Where? halomaps.co.uk

Which?
Pipedream
Needleosity
Area 52, 53, 54
Chaos Gulch

Those are the first that come to mind.

I think people should care because it has some great custom maps, and I think those people are missing out on some good modified play on Halo. I can't even remember how I came to actually downloading the thing, but I don't think Halo CE is nigh on impossible to find on the net. Most people probably just don't realise what they're missing out on, or don't care...

you need to place in maps the best one's are called h2_zanzibar and h2_new_mambossa, they are called something like that, and make sure you install them in to your map files.

true though, the halo 2 CE modding team helped out Halo CE a lot, especially with their front page article on bungie.net a while ago. :) However other than a lack of advertising i think CE's biggest problem is the fact that most, if not all user-created maps are quite laggy in a multi-player game, even with the updated net-code.

And although most of the maps are cool, other than exploring them by yourself they're not really fun in multi-player, and unlike Bungie which considered every single aspect of their maps for awesome games, users are just mainly creating maps for their asthetic qualities, not the kind of thing you want to start a game with. As well I also blame the map creator, if gearbox had made something as innovative as the Pariah map creator we'd be somewhere today.

Another problem that's not CE's fault with CE is that Macsoft never ported it. There's a whole market (I count about 50 on various forums. Okay, okay, 50's not that many, but still) of mac users that want CE (notably me).

Anyway, agreeing with Jman, asethetic value only goes so far. If you want real gameplay, you need maps that have been thoroughly thought out. But remember, Gearbox created all this stuff for free. and free stuff, while free, usually isn't that great.

Hey ya'll,
What is Halo CE?

"Is there a clown behind me again?"

That's a good point about user created maps. I've made a few maps (link) and quickly realized that even though I spent a lot of time on them, they were not really that much fun. Also, maps for halo need to be drastically different than maps for other games like Q3 or UT2k4.

BTW: Don't blame anything on Gearbox. They gave a lot to us. The stuff they released went well beyond what MS paid them to port Halo to PC. Even though the tools aren't as easy as UnrealEd etc.. they are pretty good for what they do.

Halo Custom Edition. A free download if you have Halo PC. It lets you use custom maps created by other users and play them online.

First, you can find a free downloadable version at gamershell.com that's probably the quickest. And for most of you, Halomaps.com is not a good map sight! It's halomaps.org ! There is a difference and they lead to different sights so don't mistake 'em.
