I finished Halo:CE in 16 hours, Halo 2 in about 12 and Halo 3 in 8. If ODST were to be smaller than any of these than it would be simple to finish in three days!
If fact I'm actually doing one better. Here's a post I did a while back
Linky
The fact that you just explained how you beat all three halo games in under a span of 3 days just tore apart your entire case. The argument was ODST was an expansion, not a game, because it could be beat in under three days, but apparently that's the case with all the Halo games, so what exactly are you -blam!-ing about? The fact that you're going to beat ODST in less than 3 days, the same amount of time as the other games? But ODST is not a game. Well hooray for making sense oh wait that doesn't.
ODST, with it's open ended world centre, and 8 spokes, none of which we know the duration of, plus whatever extras bungie puts into the campaign, will take longer than 8 hours to complete. I'll actually guarantee it. Halo 3 is by no means a long campaign to complete, and I'm actually expecting that because of the nature of ODST's campaign I'll take longer to finish it 100% (terminals done and everything) than Halo 3. Plus, unfortunately, the majority of people have these things called jobs and/or school that prevent uninterrupted gameplay because we have to make contributions to society.
I won't get into why your "ODST Challenge" doesn't make sense but suffice to say that's not what the gameplay in ODST is like...maybe go watch the gameplay trailer again, and the E3 briefing.
Halo 3: ODST is just as much of a game as Halo 3 was, it just happens to have a different campaign. And comes with firefight. And the Reach beta. But ODST's campaign isn't linear like Halo 3's, it's open-ended, free for you to go as you will, and your inherently being weaker as an ODST means it's going to take longer to get things done. Non Linear + More Tactical Gameplay = Longer Playtime. And I'd argue more replayability.
