Very common thread.

Basically, I prefer Halo 3 in the states they are in now (nobody to play with on H2, little choice in matchmaking etc) - as individual games, I think Halo 2 is far better, more fluid and just plain out more fun than Halo 3.

If I could swap the online population for the 2 games I wouldn't even blink before agreeing.

I think Halo 2s campaign is better, because frankly killing brutes just isn't fun compared to shooting up the classic elites, they don't feel as smart, or as alien due to their monkey-like appearance.

Multiplayer I think the glitches added something, BxR, Faster reloads, Superjumping to explore every map - loved it. It made things faster and more intense. The beat down system that prevented the "ar rushing" of Halo 3 is brilliant too, I'm tired of being on running riots and being cut down by a Level 2 with an ar and a beat down, it just didn't work like that on Halo 2.

Halo 3 just feels so... slow - the maps aren't great either, it's not the same experience in my opinion.

Ranking system on Halo 2 was generally better"ranklock", second accounters etc just drive people crazy on Halo 3, the simpler approach of Halo 2 was more effective, more fun - the idea of your highest ever rank being displayed is much better though, people never played the playlist again once they reached 50 on H2.

The medal system of Halo 3 was also better, the stats on the website far better - but possibly too addictive, so not neccessarily good. On Halo 2 you could do crap for 10 games to warm up and just not care, Halo 3s open display of every game makes me feel like I'm never off the hook.

Now I'm not very good at speeches so I'll simply say... if the graphics were better in H2 I would definitely choose Halo 2 over Halo 3, not to say Bungie didn't do a great job on it... but the feel is off. It doesn't 'feel' like classic Halo. The music, maps, game play of H3 all seem just a little out of whack if I am making any sense. Who knows, maybe it's just 'Heavy Price payed' and the map 'Coagulation' I miss. (Or the duel Needlers ~ my favorite) I prefer Halo 2.

Yep. Love Reach.

I like halo 2 more now because to me halo 3 is getting old and boring. I still like forge in halo 3 though.

for 1 I like H2 better because i think it just takes more skill than 3 and the ranking system is wayy better because it is harder to rank up and easier to go down the one and only thing i like about H3 is the customization....but H2 is just pure better, more classic, and bigger in its time than H3 H2 really kickstarted XBL

If I was given the choice between the first six months after Halo 2 was released, and the first six months, or even now, after Halo 3 was released, I would choose Halo 2.

That period from November to around March were the best gaming times of my life.

Agreed, although I almost had as much fun on Halo Combat Evolved as I had on Halo 2. One of the main reasons I prefer Halo 2 is the duel needlers for they named that combo after me at a lan party I went to, which was the best gaming in my life so far. ;) ~Cm

Nice job man, I agree with it all.

A few days ago I threw Halo 2 into my xbox to relive the good ol' times and its still in my xbox now. Going back to it makes me really appreciate how great it is. It is just too bad that it does not have the online population that H3 currently does. However, I have noticed that there is a greater percentage of good sports playing halo 2 compared to the "OMG u suck 1v1 me now" found in H3.

Bring Back Rocket Race!!!

I definitely prefer Halo 3 a lot more. Sooo many more gametypes and playlists in matchmaking as well as 4 player online co-op. The campaign is a lot better too. Also, for custom games, you have more options as well such as Infection. The Halo 2 version of infection was terrible as it relied on players to be honest. Plus, in Halo 3 Custom game options, you can set like all the physics like speed and gravity. Best of all, Halo 3 has a map editor called Forge. Some of the maps are awesome for forging like the map Sandbox. Theater mode is great as well. If something happens to you in matchmaking, you can always watch it over and over again in Theater Mode. You can even make film clips and take screenshots. Not to mention the new Bungie Pro Video thing that lets you render your Halo 3 film clips on your computer. Don't forget the fileshare feature too. You can easily share all your maps, gametypes, film clips, and screenshots with the world. And Halo 3 also has more armor permutations for Spartans and Elites. You have like Hayabusa, Recon and even a Katana Sword. Halo 3 is waaayyy better.

this thread is overused.

but i like halo 3 better just because of graphics and weapons and maps and armor and theater and forge and the campaign and matchmaking and the sniper and the needler and the display and.....

Halo2 I s way better than halo3 in my oppinion. I just find there are too many new and strong weps in H3, and since I only have the Xbox Halo's, whenever I play at my friend(codfish)'s house, I feel like I have a mental desease.

I'd have to say H2, but I've met a lot of cool people on H3.

thank you, I'm also sick of the squeakers and the morons on Halo 3, but in H2, when you meet up with a team (which almost everyone who plays H2 is good at it right now) you'll stay with them all day long even if you didn't party up

Do you know about time travel?

Really I preffer Halo 2 camapign and multiplayer just because of the maps, but Halo 3 has way better multiplayer game modes than Halo 2. So I would have to say Halo 2.

The way I see it, we both lost anyway.

Halo 1 is classic and even if not as many Halo players play the original, its still a novelty item. Halo 2 was, in a way, better than halo3. But comparing Halo 2 to Halo 1 or 3 is almost silly. Out of all the Halos, halo 2 was the most unique with playing as arbiter in separate missions, having each area split into 2 levels(like Delta Halo to Regret, etc), and the classic enemies fighting you(like the elites being the opposinng force), as opposed to Racing your warthog to the end of the game.
Halo:CE was a great game, revolutionary of its time, best seller, an istant classic.
Halo 2 was an entire new game of its own, with completely new ideas introduced while still keeping the classic Halo Formula.
Halo 3 was an amazing game, it kept the new ideas and classic formula while also introducing more concepts to play with, more options, and the final chapter to an epic series which will continue to spawn many other great games.
They are all good in there're own way. Bungie wanted Halo 2 to be a completey different game, They also wanted Halo 3 to have moments of frequent nostalgia for the halo fans that remember the key moments from the previous games.

Thats my interpretation anyway...

I think Halo 2 is a better game to play then Halo 3, because you don't have to deal with idiots anymore in this game. I played Halo 2 a few weeks ago and It had the most respectful people I ever met on any online game in a long time. In Halo 3, its like kids say stuff like "You suck" or "I want Recon" and BS. In Halo 2, they stuff like "Good Game" and good stuff in the game, its kinda sad that Halo 3's people are so rude and Ungrateful in there. Halo 2 also have an better campaign then Halo 3 since Halo 3's campaign was meh at best, the only thing I like about Halo 3's campaign is the online CO-OP thing, besides that, Halo 2 had an better story and everything else in campaign. The ranking system was better and not BS like in Halo 3. It also had better maps then Halo 3, the only maps I like in Halo 3 are Sandbox and Foundary on Forge, every map on Halo 2 was better. The gameplay was more fluid to, I know the upgrades maybe good in Halo 3, but at the end of the day, Halo 2 had better gameplay then Halo 3 (Though their pretty much the same, just with upgrades in Halo 2). I think Halo 3 is an awesome game and I play it almost every single day, but thats because I only play it for Forging and with friends, but either way, Halo 2 was an better game all around.

Halo 2>Halo 3

Both good games though.

i liked h2 when i first started because i ddnt care about losing or winning, now i do. its all about h3 now. its where all the action is. i wish though we could have the competitive maps from h2, put in h3. same h3 play style, but with h2 maps.

h2 is only good now for snipers. its where the majority of ppl are at, and thats all i play anyways when i put in h2. so i guess....h2 snipes>h3 snipes
