*EDITED*
I believe this [Halo: Reach], may incorporate some free roam elements [from Halo 3: ODST] into its design. Free roam as in, ALL OF REACH. Somewhat like RF:G possibly. I can see it now...
Free Roam Environment
Explosions going off while you're riding around in a Warthog full of Spartans, maybe flying around in a Pelican? Will you ignore your marine comrades, or help them in their small skirmishes against the Covenant?
Dialouge and Side Missions?
Maybe we will come across friendly radio transmissions like this?: "This is Marine squad Alpha Blue!! Is anyone there?! We need reinforcements at coordinates Alpha, Zulu, Niner!! We need back up, Now, over!!"
Then you could look at a map of the planet by pressing a button, (possibly 'up button' on D-Pad?), find the coordinates, and place a beacon/waypoint(visible on HUD) there is you wish. Then you could press onther button to confirm(possibly 'right button' on the D-Pad?), which could automaticly set a beacon/waypoint, and hear dialouge from your spartan like this: "Wilco Alpha Blue, you've got Spartan(s)[multiple for free roam campaign like in halo 3: ODST, eh?] on the way." Possibly then get a return message like this even!: "Oh, Spartans?! Thank the Lord! Hurry up, we're taking heavy casualties, Alpha Blue out."
Maybe you could hit another button(possibly 'left button' on the D-Pad?) and hear a different dialouge like this: "Negative on support request Alpha Blue. Sorry, we can't make it, over."
Waypoints, beacons, your HUD, and you
In Halo 3: ODST, you probably have all seen the beacon/waypoint system they have implemented. I believe this system could be expanded for Reach. Possibly a color-coded system such as: big blue diamond on hud=main mission, medium sized green circle=side mission you've responded to(using the system noted above), and little red square=sel-placed beacon.
Hmmm........... Your thoughts and opinions?
