Honestly, when i read about that Halo: Reach will be coming out, i really do hope that Bungie can convey that dark atmosphere and sad mood that i believe should be in this game. I mean common, its the fall of reach, millions of people died in this campaign, so i feel it would be right for Bungie to show that this was one of the worst military disasters that ever happened in the human-covanent war. I was thinking like a dark tone such as it is in killzone, though, not so emo and gothic. but something like that would be welcome in my opinion. If you seen that trailer on youtube of the models depicting some gritty battle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjhSp7xGsMc , THAT is really what the picture Bungie should really aim for, depicting the end of mankind, this will make a touching story. Also it would help if we could see the faces of the spartans, its not master chief, its someone different. This will help people connect with these new characters, if it comes to the scene where we watch the end of the spartans.... the more attached we are to them... the more effective the scene will be. It would do if we just went 'meh' or so what? Bungie should make us care.

Lets talk about the tone and shading, etc. In Halo 3 i noticed it was a bit too... lets say, bright. It seems like weather for sunbathing rather than killing covanent bastards. Id say it should be like dark, cloudy weather. Remember in the book that the covanent had already glassed most of Reach except for a few small patches so it would make sense for the sky to be filled with debris like a nuclear winter instead of happy sunshine. It JUST doesnt mesh with what the story is meant to be about. and i hope ull agree with me.

just watch the end battle of halo wars: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bLjqxYlZVM or just look at the concept art for halo wars, Bungie should get the picture of that war should kinda be depicted in that sense. A massive scale, this is for a planet, not some outpost and bungie should drill that idea of fighting for mankinds survival into people's brains.

The finest thing that they did in Halo CE was the feeling of loneliness in a strange world. One of the things that i noticed made it so good was the charisma of the UNSC soldiers fighting beside you. One i thing i hated was watching them die, so everytime time they did ill be like ahhh crap. restart checkpoint. Bungie should really do that with this new game. Charisma is one of the things that makes you attached to stuff like this. The problem with the other games was that there was really none of that. Basically it felt like they were expendable and you cudnt give a sh** to what happened to them. If Bungie really wants to paint a really good picture of reach, they should make it feel like every man counted, like Halo CE did. i kinda recommend kinda a modern warfare approach sort of, that cinematic experience in war like showing scores of soldiers dying, stuff like that to show us that this is a military defeat. and i really didnt mean to yap so much. But i really feel this is one of most important things that Halo reach must address instead of new weapons, skins, etc. We re telling a story here. Bungie i just really want you to get this right, i hope u can make a great touching story of how the last spartans lived and died.

*i realized most of the stuff i just said is kinda emo haha :D

Comment your ideas too please. Lets help Bungie make this story work.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

-Thanks to Rocket Turtle for pointing out my typing follies.

man, this is halo, not titanic!!
on a more serious note, i see what you're getting at, but for me, a halo game is a more light-hearted pick-up-and-play game.
