Alright, this may have been said before, it may not have. I have no idea, I don't check these forums very often. But anyways, I was playing the Halo 3 campaign on Legendary and I noticed that at the very end of the credits, the spaceship that Master Chief is in is floating towards a planet. And it happens to look a lot like the one in the Reach trailer. In the credits theres a moon up in the right corner. And it the reach trailer, the moon is in the same spot. And also there is a blueish glow coming off the planet in both the trailer and the credits. In the trailer, there is a piece of a spaceship that happens to look like the one that Master Chief and Cortana are floating inside of. And one last thing, the nuclear explosions in the trailer happen to look very similar to some blue circles on the planet in the credits.
I'm aware that the events that took place on Reach took place years before the events in Halo 3, but I think that its possible that the portal the Master Chief went through at the end of Halo 3 may have sent him back in time. Thoughts?

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Personally I don't think so.

But this has been done before.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

Master Chief frigate was cut in Half, Arbiter's side went somewhere, Chief's side went somewhere. In the Reach trailer you see a frigate, or some other ship, maybe an Orbital MAC Gun, and it is broken in 2, or atleast there is a crack or something in the middle, but, it is all there.

Plus, the legendary ending is Onyx.

Onyx is made up of trillions of sentinels.

2 nukes go off destroying a lot of the organic material on Onyx.

In the H3 legendary ending, if you look close enough on to the planet, there are lights.

These lights make forerunner symbols.

These lights are those trillions of sentinels.

Bungie even admitted they didn't like the idea of time travel.
Plus how many planets did the Covenant glass?A LOT
I'm pretty sure that most glassed planets end up looking similar after the Covenant are through with them.

If MC did travel back in time (not saying he did) but when Cortana sent out that beacon wouldnt the people on Reach notice it or the people in the other ships notice it?

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

They would not, Reach was glassed. No more civilization on it, sorry.
BTW, Reach is not the planet, the H3 ending shows a planet with a blue sun, and the Halo Reach trailer shows Reach has a yellow sun.

Sorry but it isn't Reach. Reach is made up of different Landmasses surrounded by water that the cities have to be on. The Legendary planet is one solid landmass with cities evenly spaced out, adhering to no boundaries.

Don't underestimate Bungie xD
Not only have they created the "Halo World" They created the entire universe to go along with it.
I mean come on,the two generic elites in Campaign even have back stories,as do every single character (All most) they mention.

Please, stop talking like you know more about this than everyone else, because you don't. Maybe it's Onyx, maybe it's not. It comes down to opinion, and when posting opinions, it's beneficial to post them like they ARE opinions, and not fact.

Has anyone actually seen the Halo 3 legendary ending planet? It had a bunch of lights, that made up forerunner symbols. Hmmmm, has anyone ever heard of a Forerunner planet that wasn't a Halo ring? Like an actual round spherical planet? Well Onyx is a spherical planet that is forerunner. Here is a quote from Joseph Staten:

GameTap
: Is the Legendary ending of Halo 3 a nod to Marathon, or is it a reference to Ghosts of Onyx?

Joseph Staten
: It's more or less a nod to the beginning of Halo 1. Putting the chief back in his hushed casket, and shutting him down. Oh, wait, you mean the legendary ending of Halo 3 with the crazy planetoid thing? I do not know! There is a crazy planetoid floating out there. Who knows? If you look really, really carefully at the lights on the planet, though, there is something to be seen in those lights.
Those lights make up forerunner symbols.

Those lights are sentinels.

Here is something taken from the Halo Story line:

Dr. Halsey and Kelly arrive in the Zeta Doradus system, and are immediately attacked by Sentinels as they approach Onyx. They crash-land the Beatrice, and join forces with Kurt, Mendez, and the Team Saber squad of SPARTAN IIIs. Dr. Halsey coerces the Onyx AI, Endless Summer, to assist them by sending a message through Slipspace warning FLEETCOM about the events currently unfolding at Onyx. As the Slipspace COM probe is launched, the AI detects another message being transmitted from within the Slipspace matrix. It is Cortana, warning FLEETCOM that the Flood, with the help of a previously unknown coordinating intelligence, was attempting to escape Delta Halo.

Blue Team, consisting of Fred, Will, and Linda, is ordered to Onyx to aid Dr. Halsey and the others. They hijack the Covenant cruiser Bloodied Spirit and transition to Slipspace for the journey, only to have the ship automatically drop back into normal space to answer a different distress call. This is from the Covenant ship Incorruptible, commanded by the Elite Voro 'Mantakree, which is being attacked by a Brute-commanded pair of frigates, the Twilight Compunction and the Revenant. The SPARTANS manage to re-enter Slipspace and continue on to Onyx, but not before the Covenant discover who they are and where they are headed.

Dr. Halsey discovers that Onyx is what the Forerunner referred to as a "Shield World", and contains a stable Slipspace rift deep within the planet's structure. As the Covenant close in on the humans within Onyx, Dr. Halsey persuades them all to enter the rift, to escape whatever galactic destruction the Forerunner intended with the Halos that she is convinced is inevitable. Dr. Halsey, Mendez, SPARTAN III Gamma Company Teams Saber and Katana, Tom, Lucy, Fred, Linda, and Kelly all pass through the rift as it closes, as Kurt detonates two warheads within the ammassed Covenant forces. The detonation obliterates much of the planet's organic material, revealing an underlying structure composed entirely of trillions of Sentinels, all focused on protecting the rift.
Of those 3 paragraphs, the only one that really matters is the third, bolded paragraph.

As you can see, it destroyed much of the planet's ORGANIC MATERIAL revealing an underlying structure composed entirely of trillions of sentinels. These sentinels were probably put in such a way that made patterns with thier lights. Forerunner symbols perhaps?

Making the Halo 3 legendary planet, Onyx.

Unless there is some other planet like this, but it being Onyx is much much much more likely.

Making the Halo 3 legendary planet, Onyx.
. . .Or some other Forerunner shield world.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Or some other Forerunner structure entirely! Pokey Clyde, all that evidence you've given are just examples that vaguely coincide with what we see in the Halo legendary ending. They are not proof. You would do well to learn the difference.

well i think it is reach because the halo series didnt really focus on onyx so might be why their making halo reach cuz if they wanted to make a game involving onyx then why not make halo: onyx??

No proof. No proof means no reason. No reason means no credibility. Good day.

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

The planet at the end if Halo 3 is not reach.

It would be stupid if it was. Why have MC go into cryosleep, and cortana say 'it may take weeks, months, even years before anyone finds us' if Reach is right there beside them?

I continue to say that it is not reach.

  • 07.17.2009 11:18 AM PDT

All i want to know is that is master cheif truly the last spartan!?!/!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • 07.17.2009 11:26 AM PDT

It's cherry, tastes like strawberry, looks like watermelon, and you think it's raspberry just because.

The planet in the Legendary ending of Halo 3 was not Reach, and I don't think that it was the underside of Onyx (the part composed of sentinels). I think that it was the Dyson Sphere that was in the compressed Slipspace Bubble in the end of Ghosts of Onyx. The outside of it looks like alot of giant pieces of metal to me, that were just put together. My theory is that the Spartans and Dr. Halsey managed to get the Dyson Sphere out of the Slipspace Bubble like they said they would try to do in GoO. Just a theory.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Reach was destroyed. In the series of the book, Onyx is a planet, in book 4. The legendary ending is pointing towards Onyx as the planet. It is my strong conviction that the ending of Halo 3 is the Planet Onyx.

No. Most of them were destroyed in the process. One is missing, one is retired, one is a hermit on Onyx, and then you have Mastar Ceef. (Arby + Chief pun.)
