As we all know, in Romeo's flashback there's going to be a little bit of epic sniping. I'm looking forward to this so much, I though "Hey! I'll kill sometime and imagine what it'd be like." So. Here goes!
Romeo examined his surroundings. He was cornered. But that was his plan after all. He'd come across 4 covenant patrols, and exhausted himself of his SMG ammunition. All he had left was his trusty Sniper...and that wasn't a problem with him. The most recent patrol he met, the one he was fighting at the moment, had all but been destroyed, safe for one Brute. Romeo guessed it was the leader of the patrol given it's above average height and large build. Oh and the gold armor was a clue too.
"Focus. Focus." Romeo said to himself. This was not the time to be a smart ass. But after all it was what he did best.
All of a sudden the Brute let out a rage filled roar and dropped to four legs. Romeo didn't stand a chance sniping at this thing while it was crazed. So he had to even the odds....maybe cut off the Brutes range of motion. Romeo moved as fast as he could in his heavy armor, and ran to the nearest alley. It was a dead end at the far end, which left him with only one option.
He got to the end of the alley and tried to catch his breath, he had little time before the Brute would think about entering such a small space and risking his full range of motion.
Romeo began breathing deeply attempting to calm his nerves and preparing for quite possibly the most important shot of his life. Time seemed to slow down, gicing him ages and ages to line up his shot. The possessed Brute ran with it's mouth open, tongue hanging out. He noticed every detail about the Brute. The flopped, yet small ears. The yellow teeth. The deadly look in its eyes. Romeo pulled the trigger. He saw the tracer fire of his shot, and imagined the bullet as it leapt gracefully over the forty yards between himself and the raging Brute. The bull hit the Brute's helmet and seemed to glance off of the top, knocking off the helmet itself.
The Brute Captain did not so much as twitch.
Romeo reloaded his clip.
Clods of mud flew up from beneath the Brute's feet, propelled by the raw power of its legs. Romeo tried not to think of what would happen if a battering ram of three hunder pounds of hairy muscle and rock hard bone slammed into him at the rate the beast was moving. He took deep breaths again, and noticed the faint tremor in his hands. "That's not good." He thought to himself.
He dropped to one knee, took as deep of breath as he could, and held it, waiting, timing each plunge of the Brute's ruined body, tracking its motion, waiting for the timing to be perfect.
Twenty yards. Fifteen. Ten.
When it was ten feet away, he pulled the trigger, and flung himself flat to one side. The bullet struck true, and left a hole where the Brute's forehead previously was. The Brute's front limbs suddenly went loose, and its jaws and muzzle snapped down, smashing violently into the earth, plowing a shallow furrow of gravel and mud as its momentum carried it forward. Its spine and hindquarters twisted and flipped up and over, then came shamshing down onto the earth as well, forcing Romeo to jerk his knees up to his chest, lest his legs be crushed underneath the beast's descending weight.
Romeo looked back at the Brute several unpleasant seconds later, to see it still twictching.
He heard footsteps approaching, and braced himself for another patrol. "There's no way he could survive this patrol. There's just not enough bullets." Romeo thought.
To his relief he saw Buck and Dutch come running towards him. Romeo stood to greet them, and was passes a flask of water. He then rinsed and spat the bad taste out of his mouth, and drank deeply.
"Glad to see us?" Dutch said with a grin. Romeo only glared at Dutch, before returning to the flask of water.
"Nice Shooting." Said Buck.
"I know." Replied Romeo. Like he thought earlier. It's what he does best.
