What dy'all think about whether the flood will be back in Halo 2?
And would it be a good/bad thing if they were?

And on a similar note, will there be another Halo like ringworld to blow up cos Spark hints @ 1 in the 1st game.

"Help Help I'm being repressed! Come and see the Violence inherent in the system!"
"Bloody peasant!"
"Oh did you see that? you saw him repress me?"

i bloody well hope not as In my opinion they ruined the game. my fav levels were the 1st 5, 2B, Keyes and the Maw are alright, but the Library sucks!

on the similar note, Sparks says "This is installation Halo 4" so there must be 1,2 and a 3. I think there'll be a instillation 7 as in most bungie games 7 is a special number!

this is just my speculation so no-one flame me for it (its happened before) but i think that the flood will return, perhaps unleashed on humanity by 343 GS or the covenant with new thoroughly frightening forms. and its been hinted outside the game somewhere (by an official bungie-person) that a second rignworld will enter into the game along with the covie homeworld. thats what ive heard anyway

Its already been confirmed by Bungie that there will be another Halo installation in Halo 2, and that the Flood will be back.

Heres my theory. Bungie has already stated the Flood and Covenant have had a very long and bad history together, so I think that Master Chief will find some way to either get the Flood or even convince the Flood (because they are in no way stupid) to get to the Covenant Homeworld and end the war once and forall. I could really see the Flood helping humans. Maybe not actually help them, but maybe they could come to some sort of deal. Like the Flood will not harm mankind, and in exchange, humans find the Covie homeworld and get the Flood there so they can do whatever it is they want to do them (the Covenant), and these events would put an end to the war. This (releasing the Flood) could also serve as a way to piss off that "Little Blue Bastard", as I call him. I dont know, what do you guys think?

i reckon that idea is pretty spot on. i havent read the books so i dont know about all these rifts in the covenant or the flood. so i spose your idea could work

A bungie employee said "did you really think we would get rid of the flood?" Or something similar. Draw your own conclusion.

I hope we don't actually fight the flood as they were boring to face in Halo. The only thing that made them fun was their quantity. They just keep walking at you and some of them fire it was very boring.

If we must face them I hope they have more personality and theres more types like Hunter and Grunt combat forms. They also should be smart enough to use actual tactics but then again the first game was rushed so maybe that had something to due with the lack of tactics??

There are going to be flood so everyone better deal with it...

The question is when do they come into it, and how?

The flood was quite stupid,i mean, just a single shotgun blast and thats it..<_<...or a couple of pistol shots..thats embarrassing,i hope they set the AI to 'kickass' mode for the flood cuz it was no challenge at all in halo, yes they're coming back, installation 04(the halo we destroyed) was just one of the rings the forerunners created to contain/study/and prevent escape from the flood and infect the whole universe, anyway,i don't get it how they easily kicked the covenants ASS when the covenant themselves are a greater challenge in legendary to us thna the flood are..doesn't make that much sense.

When i first played library, the flood gave me a challange. I like that in video games. Most games dont give you a challange. Id be Extremely happy if the flood made it back.

The Flood will be back and in Halo 2 they could be back in one of two ways
1. They play a very minor role. Maybe on the levels on the other Halo ring you see them and can kill them but they serve no major purpose to the story and are just there cos its halo.
2. the flood play a major role, like halo 1. they are a huge part of the story and the will be lots of them, and often once set free on the galaxy

The Flood are not intelligent. They can't talk. They are more intelligent then the average parasitic life form, but they're not intelligent by any means. And, there are no deals with the Flood. They dont think ahead of time. They just see a life from, they kill it. But, if you're going in that direction, we could TRICK them into going to the covenant homeworld. In other words, lure them. But that wouldn't work really. Caz when they're done with the Covenant, they'd just take their ships, find Earth, and kills us too.

And yeah, Opey could probably win that game without using his BR. Best SMG user in Halo.

You know what's dumb? How a single shotgun blast of maybe 10 to 16 bullets take down a warrior form, and an assault rifle takes nearly half a clip of nearly the same ammo to take one down, and they don't die all of the way! It should be that you have to fill them up with a bunch of lead to get them down. I sure hope that the SMG has a good effect on the flood in H2 the same as the shotgun did in Halo. Cause then you don't have to be dependent upon just one weapon against the flood. Because I hate games that just have you shotgun blastin throughout an entire level...

The flood aren't inteligent as we understand it they have a uncontrolable hunger for any thing and are not capable of the kind of logical thinking that would be needed for such a thing. Plus they dont have any kind of command or organization, they exist only to consume they recognize other of their own kind and fight just so they can consume. I would think exactly the opposite, that humans would convince the covenant to break from fighting them to fight the flood.

I trust Bungie to make the flood allot more interesting in H2. For one the AI will be up-ed on all accounts, so that will improve them quite a bit. Also I hope Bungie does something cool like have the flood fight covies and then infest them immediatedly, so that you have to kill all covies before the flood get to them. If you get in a flood-covie-marine battle and the flood kill everyone but you thereby tripling their armythe game would get pretty tense (has anyone mentioned this before because I want bragging rights if it is in Halo 2). That would also give Halo 2 the horror film aspect and make it rock Doom 3 in every way imaginable.

Also several people mentioned the flood not being intelligent. They can fix ships (like thr T&R and the Maw) and they have a higher understanding of the human mind (like when they probe Keyes brain for info about earth and navigation and the whole Jenkins infestation thing). I don't think they'd have any motivation towards making an alliance with the humans because they seem to want to feed.

Also I think the flood will definitely be in Halo 2 because of the enkidu letter and how the flood were some how used by the forunner to do something... censored, i guess (for lack of better words). The forerunner must have used the flood to escape to a CENSORED because it's so much cooler than this universe. Also I believe that's where enkidu is, so the flood have to be in the game.

One last thing. Someone said there were no infested grunts... isn't that what a carrier form is (look at the legs)?

Sorry but your wrong.
The Flood drain the knowledge of their host, everything they knew the combat form knows.
Thats how they can use technology like weapons and why in theory they could drive vehicles. They cannot talk because the infection causes fleshy tissue to go all moist and "flood like" making it impossible to do so. They are intelligent to a certain degree. they can hide to avoid detection and even infiltrate by hiding in cargo containers until they are brought into a ship.
Theres also the Flood Brain form that is seen in the Keyes level on board the Truth and Reconciliation. It can tap into artificial technology and also seems to have some sort of physic link to the other Flood, as it can call them to it for aid.

(this is in response to the earlier statement of the flood being stupid)

I'm not saying the flood are stupid or nothing like that they are very intelegent what i'm saying is they are not governed by higher thought proceses and are driven by the instinctual hunger. They can act as a group, manipulate objects etc but they dont have a command structure like we or the covenant do. lack of higher awareness doesn't mean lack of intelegence.
