In Halo 3 I am a pretty big forger so in Halo Reach this is how I would like the forge/map editing system to be

(Over All) Instead of it being a forging system I would like it to be more of a map creating system. Where you can change the terrain, create land structures, but still be able to place individual items like boxes, to create buildings and so on.

1. As mentioned before one of the most important things I would like to see is the ability to change the terrain. This also includes water.

2. (building/construction) to make the construction of structures easier and more accurate it would be nice to have a snap system, but also have the option to have the items self interlock/geomerge, and when you let go of immovable objects they stay where you let them go, instead of them falling.

3. (lag limit) instead of having a fixed amount of certain items; for example like you can only have 20 boxes. There should be a lag limit were you can create as many of a certain item as you want but once you hit the lag limit that is all you can make. That way your map is only limited by how much lag it creates, and not by the amount ob boxes you can make. (no more wishing you had one more box)

4. (environment manipulation) You have the power to make it day, night, fogy, cloudy. You can make your map feel any way you want to.

5. (the power to say no) the ability to make invisible walls and death barriers. No longer will people be able to get outside of your map.

(What Are Your Ideas?)

These are just a few things that i would like to see. It's probably a far fetch, but a man can wish can't he. Well Bungie it's all up to you, hope you make us proud. =)

So in other words, you would like bungie to forget forge ever existed, and copy paste Far Cry 2?

to be blunt, i'd rather keep forge, far cry 2 map editor SUCKS on consoles.

It would be more of a mix. I have tried Far Cry 2 and i didn't like it, that is why I forge. I would just like some more options in forge.

It would have the amazing abilities like those in Far Cry 2, but be user friendly like in halo 3

I see no mix. I see a direct copy.

Also, that name is EXTREMELY funny.

just no it would make it to complicated bungie makes there games so everyone from common noob to hardcore players can do it

snap feature yes - as long as as they are options

keep the budget get rid of the item limit

just make more environment balls like they already have instead

5. (the power to say no) the ability to make invisible walls and death barriers. No longer will people be able to get outside of your map

yes only problem is people would make death maps

I got my Recon for the '08 VDay tournament for second most kills; 2671.

I didn't "earn" it via VidMasters.

Maybe, somehow, create maps on your computer, then transfer to your 360?

"From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia...could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide." - Abraham Lincoln

I'm not sure that an editor a la Farcry 2 is a good idea, but I don't want Forge in it's current iteration. It's just too clunky. It shouldn't be as hard as it is to line up a box with another box.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Bungie didn't expect forge to be the hit it was (correct me if I'm wrong here). I think that seeing as how they have this massive following of forgers, we will very likely see a new forging engine. Hopefully, it will be everything that's great about the current system (ie. It's easy to pick up, but difficult to master), and yet more.

The bottom line is that I know Bungie can create a better one, and I'm sure they are. What that system is, though, is anyone's guess.

Voilà!In view,a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity,is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

All forge needs to take from far cry is the circle menus, if we used circle menus in forge we could have all the tools we need

People all ready make death maps, and the best thing to do with those people is to leave them alone. Or just not play on that map

I lol'd.

Im a very avid forger, and I think that if Reach has a forge function, the only changes it would need is an "Undo" feature, An effective and accurate way to geomerge (ie doors) on every map, and a 15 degree rotate feature.

the only feature I really care for is the ability to combine objects so you can move them ALL with one click.
they do not neccessarily have to be connected physically, you just have to select an object, hit a "connect" button, and select another object. this permanently connects the objects together. you can string connections.
When you select an object, you first address the overall connection menu, and then when you move to the second menu, you address the individual object. from there, you can delete any connections you don't want.

Do you really care? you can't automatically see my signature anyway.

Ok what I think if we honestly want to get into Map Making over Map Editing (Forging) we should be allowed to make maps on our computers and then upload them to our fileshares from bungie.com or a utility in the software, but it would have to be scanned for hacks before it gets uploaded.

I think that bungie will ever allow us to do that. They would have too many problems with people moding and it would be like creating two different games. you would have to have two discs. One for Halo Reach, and the other for the software for your computer to make the maps. Also bungie is all about user friendliness and that just seems to hard for me.

"Thoughts are the shadows of feelings; always darker, emptier, and simpler."

I hope that it has deeper levels of customisation in the way of maybe adding text to objects/geometry to designate bases and/or key locations (e.g. "Sword Room Here", "Blue Base", etc.).

Oh yeah, a snap feature would also be greatly desired. I can't tell you how bloody hard it is to create structures in the current forge system. It's pants.
