go back in store tell him the countless cool features in ODST then shock him to dath by saying
"so... i think i'll pre-order CoD:MW2"

The statement below is true.

The statement above is false.

I am an employee at GameStop (power to the players jk) and this guy should definitely get written up for this. Go back when the store manager is there and tell him what happened, and who did this. He can definitely move the money from call of duty to halo no problem, and he probably will write this guy up. Also you can go take a survey on tellgamestop.com it helps the company weed out bad employees. This guy just sounds like a douche.

You know.. Funny you should mention about crazy store clerks and Modern Warfare 2. I was at my local games retailer (I live in Singapore so its Asia too) today to put pre-orders down for the LEs of Halo 3: ODST, Dragon Age: Origins and Modern Warfare 2.

Dude at the counter took down my name and contact number and got me to write what I was there to pre-order. I did that and well, yea. He takes the slip of paper and looks at me, repeating to me what I had written to make sure he got it right. All of a sudden, he stops, looks at me and says "I think you've made a mistake sir". And I'm all like "I beg your pardon?"

And, with the most serious face, he looks at me and says,

"It says here you pre-ordering both the Halo ODST and Modern Warfare 2?"

"Yea I am. Huge fan of shooters and those 2 series in particular"

"Why would you do that?"

"Like I said, I like Halo and COD4 was great"

"I would highly recommend that you cancel your order for Halo ODST, sir"

At this point, I'm getting slightly irritated as I was hungry and wanted to go eat lunch. But I waited and tried to find out more.

"Why?"

"Because you probably won't be spending much time with this Halo game when Modern Warfare 2 comes out. I would also recommend cancelling your order for Dragon Age"

"How do you know that?"

" Have you seen their trailers!?" Dude then proceeds to take a remote and play both the Halo 3: ODST trailer and the Modern Warfare 2 trailer and looks at me.

I'm pissed at this point of time as he had easily just wasted 4 minutes of my time. Dude continues talking.

"So, can I cancel that order now, sir?"

I get pissed off and tell him "Look, its my money. I spend it how I want. Just give me a call when you get the games." And with whatever patience I had left, I muttered "Thanks"

As I walk out the store, he says in chinese "Idiot is just wasting his money."

I'm Indian but know my fair bit of chinese. I turned, shot him a stare and walked off.

It's people like Mr. Asian Jerkwad who make me not want to get Modern Warfare 2. I actually have the money and could get the one with the Night Vision Goggles but I just don't want the game. I'm horrible at Call of Duty games and actually only enjoy them once in a while. Halo games I can have fun playing at any time. I would have told him he's an @$$hole and can shove MW2 up his ass. Halo 3: ODST = Epic Win.

(I'd laugh if MW2 bombed)

Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

If you have extra money to waste, do this:

Go in that day and buy CoD: MW2. Then ask the guy (If it's the same guy) if you could borrow scissors or a knife.

Rip open the packaging acting giddy while doing it.

Once the packaging is open, carefully take out the disc in front of him... and throw it across the room like a Frisbee. And then turn back at him and seriously say, now I'd like my copy of Halo please.

:)

Go Back and Speak to the Manager.

Also. The Future of Gaming is not in Call of Duty MW2; or ODST for that matter. The Future of gaming, has yet to be reveled, and as such should'nt be given a false prophet to embody it (This guy chose COD MW2).

Simply should've told him:

"Alright, well I'm just gonna come back later when your out, you know in your basement worshiping your false prophet Soap Mctavish. So atleast I can reserve a game I am want, COD MW2 looks good, but I'm more excited for ODST, so you need to back off, and let me express my free will by choosing the game I want. Other wise I'll have to kindly shove my foot up your
-Blam!-"

EDIT: When I reserved my copy of ODST, guy gave me no problems.
Then again I chose EB Games, not Gamestop, even though they are the same thing, with different names.

I just can't believe so many people want COD MW2 so much. It looks good, so does ODST, but obviously ODST Automaticlly wins the Hype Contest, even if MW2 is expected to win game of the year or whatever. Simple Point, both are good games, just ODST wins intial release sales, and it seems gamestop is trying to fix that. >.>
.

EB for the win. they honestly seem to hire people who are interested in all games....

Cancel MW2, gather any proof of the situation you have, and tell his boss what's up. That employee just got himself fired. And if not, don't dare going to that Gamestop again.

Go back in that gamestop, and ask for the manager. This kind of stuff shouldn't happen in america. It's your money, and your game. Tell the manager that one of the employees purposefully put the wrong game down for your pre-order. Ask for your money back and if the manager is the one guy, threaten to go to a different store.

i love how you say 'in america' this shouldn't happen anywhere. at all. (I'm Canadian BTW. NEVER have i heared of this type of thing before)

Contact the manager. They can't do that; it's YOUR money, you can spend it in any way YOU want, not the employee. That kind of thing is ridiculous.

Wow. When I went to the GameStop to sell some games, they just simply uttered, "would you like to pre-order any games?" Then they list some. And that's when I payed for ODST in full. . .

The GameStop I go to has a good customer service reputation, and they never gave me trouble.

Go back to that GameStop, speak to a manager about the problem, and get your reservation for the game you wanted.

EB games/Gamestop employees are retarded.

I once bought Halo 1 used, with my parents when I was 15. I played and beat the campaign, and decided that me and my brother should play a bit of multiplayer, to see how different it is from Halo 3. Every time I would fire up the multiplayer, it would freeze right before it started. So I went back to the store and said: ''The multiplayer isn't working, it keeps freezing right before the game starts.'' And the clerk said: ''Bungie doesn't support the online multiplayer for Halo 1 anymore''. I said: ''There was never online multiplayer, it's just not working''

And he said ''I don't know.'' I said: ''Could I get another copy? This one is defective.'' He said: ''I need ID'' (I didn't go with my parents that time). I told him that I had bought it already, with my parents, and it's the same game. He just said, again ''I need ID or you can't get another copy.''

Total bull-blam!-.

EB games is the best, they would never force you to get a game and all thieremployees seem to have atleast some knowledge and would never sell you a broken game.

it's true. and the one time i got a used copy of NHL 09 and it didn't work i took it back and they gave me a brand new one still in packaging for FREE

they have wicked service here

!Go with GOD and a bag full of Guns!

DOnt get the dude fired. Before talking to a Manager, talk to him and try to get him to fix it himself. If he refuses or acts like more of a dumbass, then you can take it to the next level.

Or maybe you should just keep the reservation anyway. Im planning on getting both games.

Well, I've never been in this situation before, but if I was, I'd proably go back to the shop and just calmy explain to the guy on the till (Might not be the same guy, I'm sure they take shifts), if he is, you could either say to him if he could swap the pre-order for ODST instead, but if you dont wanna talk to him, you could just keep coming back to the shop until you see someone else on the till, then I'm sure they can swap the pre-order for ODST instead.
In the future, you could just pre-order games online, I pre-ordered my ODST from amazon online, no mistakes whats so ever.

In the UK we dont have to pay to pre-order stuff but o yeh you should realy only need to be asked about the game you want maybe they ask you, do you want to preorder anything no they just ask you about halo or what ever game you want, and then be on your way but either he was being nice or he wants you to buy something else if so punch him and run like hell, tehe.

I can't believe what i'm reading. Gamestop actually hires people like this? I say go back and tell him you want the problem fixed or call the manager. I'm all for Modern Warfare 2 and ODST, but not when the man forces the game down your throat.

Exactly.

.....On an off topic note, Lost Planet 2 is going to be AWESOME!!!
