I'm down with this Idea. I'd like to see your opponents get knocked backwards while their stomachs explode after facing a shot gun. Cracks in the visor would be pretty awesome too. I don't agree that the sounds should be changed but I do agree that they could be improved, make them sound a little heavier and a little more realistic. The BR sounds like a pellet gun even though it's awesome.

I also agree that it would be a lot more rewarding to kill someone if you got to see some blood or a death thats more realistic than falling down.

Yah, I can see how kids would react very maturely in that regard,

Halo is not about Gore. Gore is not more mature.

1. Gore is not necessary. We have armored Spartans with bones bonded with metal. Having peoples heads needlessly blown off by sniper fire does not make sense. It should go through the helmet. Blood should splatter and poor out, before the bio-foam fills the helmet in an attempt to stop the bleeding, and give the Spartan a better chance at revival.

2. Cursing ruins a games script. We don't need a bunch of retarded gruff guys blowing eff bombs every fives seconds like in GTA San Andreas. It's just annoying. Might as well turn them to Smurfs and have them say "Smurf this" and "Smurf that." We could use some heavier dialogue in place of the humorous lines found throughout the Halo trilogy, but in the end you can only make the Grunts so scary without ruining them.

3. A little more detail can't hurt, but we don't need a bunch of brown, grey, and dark green that blends in and makes it hard to see at far range like in Call of Duty. I can see better in real life in comparison to Call of Duty. It's needlessly convoluted with low resolution bump mapped dots everywhere to simulate the grits and grime that are no where near as apparent in real life.

I am of an open mind and I am willing to hear criticism. Also: That's stupid and you're stupid.

We need actual blood in this game. I hate seeing small bits of blood after getting nailed with a Rocket or cut down with a sword.

how about highly stylized thing streams of blood coming out of crack and holes in your beat up mjolnir mixing with the sand in the air. faint cracks on the side of your visor. scratched up paint. chips of ceremic flying off of the titanium plates that compose you armor.

for the zombies in infection there visors should be crack up alot. most of the ceremic would have crumbled off of there rusty titanium (i have no clue if titanium rusts but that would add a great effect to the zombies none the less)

it doesnt. rust is iron oxide
wrong rust happens to any metal when it is exposed to oxygen but if the armor is painted that stops rusting by covering the metal to prevent exposure to oxygen

Painting does not stop rust. Some paint is just used as a coating to keep steel from rusting quickly. Also, the oxidation of titanium alloy takes so long there should be no apparent titanium oxidation present in the Spartan's life time.

Sounds great... I agree.. needs more gore.. Im not saying a shotgun blowing you into little bits like gears but needs to be more mature.. Halo has always been my favorite game so I agree that it shouldnt be completely more realistic.. But i'd love more gore and battered armor.

I'd love to see better graphics.
EX:
Halo 3: http://www.aolcdn.com/ch_gamedaily/ftr_halo-3-guns_ss1.jpg

Crysis: http://www6.incrysis.com/screenshots/236bh.jpg

Also, Crysis was released roughly the same time as Halo 3, but the Xbox cannot handle that game.

Believe it or not, the 360's potential has not completely been unlocked yet by any developers. The 360 has multiple (3-4 if I remember correctly) processors in it. But the most anyone has ever used is 2. One for graphics and maybe the other for sound or physics. I think the 360 could easily handle Crysis if done correctly.

I always pictures after a headshot with a sniper the visor of the helmet would have a large crack, leaving an opening surrounded by blood, and looking through you see the eyes of the spartan.

It's cherry, tastes like strawberry, looks like watermelon, and you think it's raspberry just because.

Shut up you puss. (meant in the nicest, most sarcastic way as possible.)

I want my damn gore.

If someone's ticking me off for a whole match, jumping up and down like a retard while I try to get ONE decent snipe on him, his death had BETTER be satisfying. Big bullets take heads off. If not, they sure as hell crack visors and liquidize faces.

Here's another post I've made on this matter.

For God's sake, Tough =\= indestructible!

If anyone's taken a quick look at the Halo arsenal and what the Spartans are up against, do you honestly think they would just bounce and flip around? I do, just in every direction at once. Look at the spartan laser. That HUGE red beam that doesn't stop when it hit's your chest. That huge red glowing liquid splash effect it makes on impact. That's MORE than enough to pierce or even SHRED the armor in the game. Armor doesn't protect, it just makes you die slow enough to fight off whatever is killing you. If you die, that probably means the armor has failed.

So you want gore so you you can gloat more effectively, is that right? You simply want more of a motivation to scream loudly into your microphone? I get the whole damaging armor if you shoot at it, but the gore is unnecessary. If you need gore to make you feel better about missing someone after shooting off 5 clips with a sniper, then go play Gears of War or Call of Duty: World at War.

More damage would be nice. It would be great if where you got shot showed damage, so that the longer you survived, the more damage would be shown on your armor.

Shots taken to shields would leave small scorch marks, and then once the shields were down, then damage would cause gouges in the armor.

Gore isn't necessary, but I would like giblets from rockets.

I agree with the first 3 sentences, but not that last one. My reason: Giblets=Gore. I realize that they have giblets with the Flood, and that is gore as well, but it doesn't bother me that much, because it isn't something that happens whenever you play, and it's not overly gory.

fairly sure tony hawks has more blood than halo...

well for the mature rating of blood and gore on halo i rarely saw gore and the flood barely counts its a joke compared to GOW . if u played badcompany you would know how stiff the scenary is in halo 3

Gore would be awesome though not blood and gut gore but cod WAW gore to keep the 15+ rating because if this game goes to 18+ you will not want to see my serious face!

Sounds good, more blood would be good too and keep to one set of armour that everyone has and darker blacks etc, will be cool to look like a ninja spartan. lol

  • 07.20.2009 6:16 PM PDT

Spartans being sliced in half by swords? Plasma burning through flesh? A fuel rod gun blowing enemies to pieces? Sound good to me.

  • 07.20.2009 6:20 PM PDT

agreed more mature. But I'd like to see some minor armor damage and there should also be blood on the energy sword when you kill them. You should get blood on your armor too

Not on the swords. They're plasma, the blood would simply evaporate. There wouldn't even be blood from a sword slice anyway, sorta like Star Wars, the immense heat reseals the blood vessels. Unless of course it's a big blood vessel... lol

hah.

I show any lust at all for the red stuff and suddenly I'm a stupid little kid. There is also a major flaw in your reply. Those two games aren't as good as Halo 3. Gore doesn't make me want to kill more, it actually calms me down. I grew up on Sam Rami and Paul Verhoven. Gore comforts me. If I've been severely pissed off by a person in a game, watching him flop around isn't enough. Seeing his head pop off (if I shoot it with a rocket, I mean come on) is satisfying and makes me less angry. I don't gloat, It doesn't motivate me in any way, it just makes me feel better. Also, the complete and total lack of dismemberment in the game is.......astonishing to say the least. I mean, stop trying to be PC (I know you're desperately trying to look sane for everyone) and look at the arsenal. Huge crystals the size of an average man's forearm going into AND ALMOST THROUGH your torso and exploding. No mark. Scratchless. wtf?

What about the brute shot? It shoots GRENADES at you with enough force to barely be affected by gravity. What happens when it hits your kneecap? Nothing. Of course. I mean, why would an explosive traveling at least 80mph out of a metal tube mangle you in any way? Also, what about the blade at the end of it? If you're excuse is that the armor takes all the damage and holds the body together, then why the HELL does the brute shot melee even affect me? Why does ANYTHING affect me if master chief's wonder armor can stop anything and everything from ripping him apart? What about campaign? Why are brutes indestructible? Why are grunts indestructible? Why are the BARELY ARMORED MARINES indestructible? The only reason to hold back these things are to be kid friendly. They have an M rating already, what are they trying to do? They're gore system has worked fine since Halo 1 as proven with the flood, so that's no excuse. (also, I miss how you could shoot their bellies out) There are multiple unused mangled marine corpses in Halo 1. Men with their entire chests cracked open. Arms missing. Everything in the series should logically lead to more violence (or at least people that don't all come from krypton) than it has. The storyline, the weapons, the god damn RATING. So why doesn't it deliver? What's holding them back? This isn't like bungie.

PS: There are subtle hints in the Halo universe that say that energy swords don't generate heat.

PSS: Gore being unnecessary is no excuse. NOTHING is necessary. The normal mapping isn't needed, the beautiful lighting in the maps aren't needed, the small props laying about the scenes aren't needed, the good acting isn't needed, the tiny puffs of vegetation aren't needed, the water physics isn't needed, the rag dolls aren't needed, the excellent hand keyed animations aren't needed, the beautiful soundtrack isn't needed, the great sound effects aren't needed, the dynamically swaying trees aren't needed, the great explosions effects aren't needed. NOTHING in the game that we see or hear beyond what's needed to let you know where the bad guys are is necessary. But why are they there? They put you into the experience. They help you to believe the world that you are playing in is real enough to care about. Grenades shot out of a metal tube that travel at least 80mph and hitting someone in the face without it damaging their person in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM pulls me right out of an experience. Just like me walking around a room of dead bodies and dropping ammo out of my inventory, only to see that the half pound pulse rifle clip causes a nearby body to explode into bloody chunks on impact. (Dead Space)

Hell, HALO isn't needed. FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS aren't needed. VIDEO GAMES aren't needed. ENTERTAINMENT isn't needed. And yet, we have it all.

Gore would be nice. It should be as realistic visually as Gears of War 2's gore but not so over the top, by that I mean a shotgun blast won't rip a person into 45 pieces but the body parts will look semirealistic. A shotgun blast should be capable of blowing a limb or leaving a large hole in a torso. Plasma should scorch off the skin leaving nothing but black bones. A rocket should blow a body in pieces. The sniper should take a head right off. Those are just some examples.

The game should be less shiny. If anything I would like to see more realistically dark environments.

The covenant species should look more terrifying, the Grunts and Jackals looked great in Halo 3. Do the same to the Elites and make them taller.

The guns should sound like guns.

Mature language when deemed necessary, mostly by the Marines in combat. Most of the main characters wouldn't curse at all because it wouldn't make sense.

Destructible environments would be nice to an extent. It should be mostly visually but some preset map pieces could be destroyed as well as plants. Nothing that would affect the gameplay.

Everytime your shields go down your armor should break take damage. If you survive your shields would recharge but the armor damage would stay the same. Eventually your suit would be falling apart.

R.I.P. Halo 2
11/9/04 - 4/15/10

- B( )B

I agree that the sound effects could be much better, but in my opinion Gears didn't have great sound effects either.

I have two particular weapons in mind which need revamped sound effects. The Shotgun, and the Sniper.

Honestly, the sniper fires a 14.5mm round, that is a massive bullet, especially for a rifle. So just how big is that? Well you know that Barrett .50 cal, it fires a 12.7mm (or a half inch, hence the .50) round, which literally blows it's target to pieces. The sniper should sound a lot louder than it does.
And the shotgun, it's an 8 gauge, and the biggest shell made today is 10 gauge, which is also massive.

So, in conclusion, what I am suggesting is that the shotgun and sniper discharge sound should make you heart skip a beat at least the first time you fire it, it should be startling.

I would be happy where if it was just a bullet does more damage than hitting someone in the shoulder, that would make me happy. But I do think it should be a little darker.

I think that Halo 3 is a GREAT game. Your right though on making better gun noises. The AR sounds like a BB gun, that is true. I wish the blood would make a kinda glowy thing like it does in Gears.

  • 07.20.2009 10:38 PM PDT

Seeing a fellow marine turned into a Flood warrior isn't enough mature enough? Part of what makes Halo great is what it always has been. It has a certain cinematic charm to it, and even manages to fit in humor (mainly from other marines and grunts). IMO it's what makes Halo great, when tossed on the main Campaign it's just icing on the cake.

The AR sounds like a BB gun, that is true.

This, I agree with 100%! I wish the AR sounded like it did in Halo: CE. It sounded like a wild animal in the original.

I don't want "mature" I want HORRIFYING. I want to be SCARED!!!

Maturity is just a name. It means content for adults.

I want to be immersed. The only way for that to happen is for the apocalyptic war environment to actually include VIOLENCE in it. That would mean including "mature" content.

Besides, the flood transformations while probably hard to do, were pretty bad. There are many elements of the flood design that CAN'T be achieved in 3 seconds. It would have been better if the flood dragged the marines into the shadows and you saw the FULL infection happen in a cutscene. A GOOD transformation too. Not just "model A, some smoke, and then model B" I mean the Brumak at the end of Gears 2.
