It's cherry, tastes like strawberry, looks like watermelon, and you think it's raspberry just because.

Shut up you puss. (meant in the nicest, most sarcastic way as possible.)

I want my damn gore.

If someone's ticking me off for a whole match, jumping up and down like a retard while I try to get ONE decent snipe on him, his death had BETTER be satisfying. Big bullets take heads off. If not, they sure as hell crack visors and liquidize faces.

Here's another post I've made on this matter.
_____________________________________________________________ ___________

I read this same damn thing over and over again, and it keeps gettin funnier every time.

For God's sake, Tough =\= indestructible!

If anyone's taken a quick look at the Halo arsenal and what the Spartans are up against, do you honestly think they would just bounce and flip around? I do, just in every direction at once. Look at the spartan laser. That HUGE red beam that doesn't stop when it hit's your chest. That huge red glowing liquid splash effect it makes on impact. That's MORE than enough to pierce or even SHRED the armor in the game. Armor doesn't protect, it just makes you die slow enough to fight off whatever is killing you. If you die, that probably means the armor has failed.

So you want gore so you you can gloat more effectively, is that right? You simply want more of a motivation to scream loudly into your microphone? I get the whole damaging armor if you shoot at it, but the gore is unnecessary. If you need gore to make you feel better about missing someone after shooting off 5 clips with a sniper, then go play Gears of War or Call of Duty: World at War.

hah.

I show any lust at all for the red stuff and suddenly I'm a stupid little kid. There is also a major flaw in your reply. Those two games aren't as good as Halo 3. Gore doesn't make me want to kill more, it actually calms me down. I grew up on Sam Rami and Paul Verhoven. Gore comforts me. If I've been severely pissed off by a person in a game, watching him flop around isn't enough. Seeing his head pop off (if I shoot it with a rocket, I mean come on) is satisfying and makes me less angry. I don't gloat, It doesn't motivate me in any way, it just makes me feel better. Also, the complete and total lack of dismemberment in the game is.......astonishing to say the least. I mean, stop trying to be PC (I know you're desperately trying to look sane for everyone) and look at the arsenal. Huge crystals the size of an average man's forearm going into AND ALMOST THROUGH your torso and exploding. No mark. Scratchless. wtf?

What about the brute shot? It shoots GRENADES at you with enough force to barely be affected by gravity. What happens when it hits your kneecap? Nothing. Of course. I mean, why would an explosive traveling at least 80mph out of a metal tube mangle you in any way? Also, what about the blade at the end of it? If you're excuse is that the armor takes all the damage and holds the body together, then why the HELL does the brute shot melee even affect me? Why does ANYTHING affect me if master chief's wonder armor can stop anything and everything from ripping him apart? What about campaign? Why are brutes indestructible? Why are grunts indestructible? Why are the BARELY ARMORED MARINES indestructible? The only reason to hold back these things are to be kid friendly. They have an M rating already, what are they trying to do? They're gore system has worked fine since Halo 1 as proven with the flood, so that's no excuse. (also, I miss how you could shoot their bellies out) There are multiple unused mangled marine corpses in Halo 1. Men with their entire chests cracked open. Arms missing. Everything in the series should logically lead to more violence (or at least people that don't all come from krypton) than it has. The storyline, the weapons, the god damn RATING. So why doesn't it deliver? What's holding them back? This isn't like bungie.

PS: There are subtle hints in the Halo universe that say that energy swords don't generate heat.

PSS: Gore being unnecessary is no excuse. NOTHING is necessary. The normal mapping isn't needed, the beautiful lighting in the maps aren't needed, the small props laying about the scenes aren't needed, the good acting isn't needed, the tiny puffs of vegetation aren't needed, the water physics isn't needed, the rag dolls aren't needed, the excellent hand keyed animations aren't needed, the beautiful soundtrack isn't needed, the great sound effects aren't needed, the dynamically swaying trees aren't needed, the great explosions effects aren't needed. NOTHING in the game that we see or hear beyond what's needed to let you know where the bad guys are is necessary. But why are they there? They put you into the experience. They help you to believe the world that you are playing in is real enough to care about. Grenades shot out of a metal tube that travel at least 80mph and hitting someone in the face without it damaging their person in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM pulls me right out of an experience. Just like me walking around a room of dead bodies and dropping ammo out of my inventory, only to see that the half pound pulse rifle clip causes a nearby body to explode into bloody chunks on impact. (Dead Space)

Hell, HALO isn't needed. FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS aren't needed. VIDEO GAMES aren't needed. ENTERTAINMENT isn't needed. And yet, we have it all.

Well I guess I've been thoroughly thrashed, although, I don't see the point of arguing since it's a matter of opinion, which makes me feel stupid for arguing in the first place. My most sincere apologies for wrongfully accusing you.

Thank you.

There are three kinds of people that want gore.

1. Those that want it just to have it, and show off the physics and what the engine can do.
2. Those that want it as realistic imagery to draw in a player.
3. Those little immature people who think gore is cool, and want it so they can feel mature.

I would agree the AR does sound like a pee shooter. I think those are so good ideas.

I'm okay with grittier and worn out. Just that the same art style is kept and that the graphics do not end up as murky, washed out and grey as Gears 2.

[As of October 2012]
2013 ADFA Officer Cadet of the RAAF (Aerospace Engineer Electronics Officer).

I think Bungie does need to make the Halo universe a bit more mature but seeing as Bungie needs this to sell, I think they should include a maturity layer, under 18/15 accounts could have a forced or optional barrier that for example stops gore or excessive blood from appearing, etc.

I think we need some darker areas too, I'm not exactly sure how to be sure, plenty of areas in Halo 3 scream dark with an apocylptic background, fighting flood in fairly small areas with lights knocked out, etc, perhaps it's the colour palette, less happy colours and more reds, dark blues, etc. I personally loved the colours of the area near the end of Floodgate; where there's illuminated purples and blues with red flames scattered around with a dark foreground and a quite apocylptic sight to your left.

That said; I hated levels like Quarantine Zone on Halo 2, I think making Halo 3 more gritty is going to be a hard task if undertaken as there's a small margin for error with "shiny guns and colourful explosions & backgrounds" on one side and "dull, depressing" on the other.

I think perhaps Bungie needs to make environments more threatening looking, etc but to also make sure players don't get sneak attacked too often; by keeping the visibility high enough not to confuse playe-

... basically I don't want areas like these 2 at 1:45 and 2:50 in this video:

Chill out - dude, you really need to

Bring back Final Run!

i would suggest, my friend, that you need a better sound system? the base in the sounds is pretty awesome if you actually hook it up to a sub

  • 07.21.2009 3:12 AM PDT

I agree with it being more mature, hell its rated M but there is barely any (human) blood and very little swearing. I know the Flood gave it the rating, but honestly the flood look like puke when they die not gory.

if the flood is your idea of childish then yes, very childish indeed. lol but yeah i think the sounds should be better, the AR sounds like a popcorn maker, the smg sounds good but sucks. ahah
smg sucks? you sir, fail.

He sure does......SMG is my tool of destrucion :D lol

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

Too. Many. Commas. O_O

  • 07.21.2009 8:32 AM PDT

Yeah halo 3 should of been rated teen becouse there was realy no gore at all or cussing

  • 07.21.2009 9:36 AM PDT

NY Giants
Miami Heat

Oh yes, MJOLINIR armor doesn't get holes. Therefore blood cannot escape it.

Also, when you whack someone with a gun blood doesn't spurt out.

SUPER NICE!!!

Finally what I've wanted to say for the longest time and you've brought it to my attention. First off is there anyway to detect an annoying screaming 8 year old child in matchmaking and get them permanently banned. One thing i really hate when trying to play halo is little kids screaming into their mics or singing or breathing heavily into their mics or... well anything. I know so many people who dont play halo because of the little kid factor. Not saying anything about the game, I love it... but just not 8 year olds on a Mature rated game. Second gore it up add some more violence. Brutes ripping a pathetic humans arms off.. or better yet a part where the Cheif kills a whole house full of Little children with an energy sword. Jk. Make the visor crack if you get showered by grenade shrapnel or headshotted. Bring back the dark feel of Halo: CE. Get rid of the bright sunny "Its so pretty" texture and feel. Don't get me wrong, the graphics and scenery are great, but they dont match the feel of what the games story is. Or at least from what I've read in the books...

The Dark feel of Halo CE?
I don't really think Halo CE has a dark feel to it at all. If anything, Halo CE seems a bit cartoony compared to Halo 3.

lolwut?

halo ce was much darker then halo 3; much more gore, and much more blood. heck, keyes, library and 343 guilty spark alone is darker then everything seen in halo 3.

not only that but there were MUCH larger blood splats (now I get one little droplet when I kill a hunter. used to be that I could paint the walls orange if I wanted to in CE)

Yes, because dimly lit flat and boring environments and large purple blood splatters really sell the "Dark" feel.

Halo is not Doom. It has large environments with epic lighting.
343 Guilty Spark is the only level that really has any sort of Dark feel to it. But even then, that level was not nearly as good as say Assault on the Control room.

Pew pew pew!

Gore, loud gun noises and stringing the F, S, N and C words into one sentence does not a mature game make.
Let's put it this way: how many of you have played or heard about MadWorld for the Wii? It certainly has gore, swearing and rather graphic noises but I'd be hard pressed to find anyone who would call the game mature. I mean on paper it all sounds very adult doesn't it? So why doesn't it come off as 'mature'? Just a little something to think about there.
I mean personally a mature Halo game for me would be atmospheric, heartwrenching, emotional, well designed with fun missions, brilliant game mechanics and excellent level design and to top it off it would have a truely fantastic story with well scripted dialogue and compelling characters. Certainly that would make Halo: Reach more fun than it being Halo 3 with more blood?
