When I first saw the commercials for Halo 3, I was excited. They showed massive battles in an Icy wasteland and the streets of New Mombassa. I was ready for huge battles with Wraiths and Pelicans and Scarabs and Mac Cannons and Longswords and thousands of Infantry. I thought I'd be holding my ground with my marines as we were swarmed with Covenant. Did this happen?

No, but that's what would take Reach to the next level.

Since Halo CE, the Campaign levels have basically been completely linear. Though they're the most replay able campaign missions out of any game ever created, it's too predictable. You can pretty much memorize what's around the corner, which way they'll be walking and what weapon they're holding.

This is because every level from Halo CE to Halo 3, you're fighting enemies who are dug in. They're an occupying force and you are taking them out. Each little battle in the levels is like fighting a little Covenant outpost. Kill the guy in the Sniper tower, pick up some ammo out of the supply cases, move around to the next battle, kill the turret and take out the patrolling Brutes.

The level Tsavo Highway is a great example. The enemy are in the same spot, and you just have to go there and kill them, each and every time.

Here is what Reach needs: A giant battle field, like the commercial for Halo 3 in New Mombassa. Thousands of enemies, attacking you. You're not attacking them. Vehicles, infantry, artillery, air. Huge, and it should be more freeroam, but not as much as ODST. Face it, you know you'd like to choose if you flank the enemy, sneak around them, or take them on head first with everything you got. AoTCR is an example of being confined to one path. You were in that long crevice and had to fight the enemy the same way everytime. Still, it was the best part of a video game ever.

I think we need more choices and more room to roam. What do you think???

Summary:
We need more room to move and make choices. More options during campaign like flanking the enemy or taking the tank would be great, as well as giant battles as opposed to the many small battles in each Halo 3 campaign level.

but what the campaign REALLY needs, above all your suggestion, is to be longer. with each halo game the campaign got shorter... they've got to break the circle :/

The xbox can't support that many people.

Halo requires way too much processing power to run everything then throw in hundreds of Covenant soldier and vehicles.

I agree. That'd be awesome. 160 hour long campaign would be my dream LOL

Just three more levels than Halo 3 would be nice.

more like randomly generated battles everytime you play!? so the game never gets old!
the game would feature linear parts where ... well, things ALWAYS happen, and random battles when there is a huge encounter! with randomly generated terrain and objectives! D:

Yeah! Well, the terrain would always be the same, and so would the attackers, but it's just on a much larger scale and there are enough options for you to choose what you want to do.

This is actually why Halo 2 and Halo 3 lacked a great camapign.

1. Halo Reach needs elites and no brutes.
2. No AR
3. Better melee system
4. The enemies needs new moves and they should be able to use double swords etc
5. We have seen that when you're fighting enemies in halo 3 there's usally 1 brute with 3 or 4 grunts. We need elite packs, 4- 5 elites in 1 group instead of 1 elite with 4 grunts.
6. When you're fighting brutes all you need to do is shoot them a little bit , run to the brute and punch the brute 1 - 3 times. When you're punching the brute he wont do anything to you. They need to fix that.
7. Fire granades in multiplayer
8. The game needs to run at 60 fps
9. They need to code the game better and fix the framerate drops
10. Better graphics / new engine
11. More things going on at the same time
12. Parts of the enemies body should be able to fall off. If you hit them with the sword on their legs they shouldn't be able to walk because they dont have any legs.
13. They need to fix the marines driving skills. If you're in the back of a warthog and you're letting a marine drive the warthog you're dead. They cant drive. Fix that.
14. Better Ai
15. Fix the servers. We dont want players to be hosts. Lagg free multiplayer thx.
16. No brutes in the game or mix brutes/elites/grunts
17. We all remember the flood level in Halo 3 when Cortana and Gravemind poped up and slowed everything down all the time. We dont want that!
18. Better level design. We're not to happy about backtracking.
Those are all fine suggestions, but I pointed out the linear campaign levels.

escept for the fact that the AR is the staple of Halo.

the only reason people hate it is because they got used to it not being there in Halo 2.

H2 E3 demo looks like a scripted mess. I don't want Call of Duty in my Halo.

I get what you are saying , OP. You want Halo with scores of AI, on the frontlines and agianst Covenant infantry? That sounds like tons of fun.
