Could/Should Bungie make a test playlist to H3 where are no BR's at all?
Would it work at all?

93% of statistics are lies. Formerly Xfire Grunt. Unfortunately, you can't change the WLID for your BNET account, so I had to create an alternate account. My other WLID was spam city (and it was my e-mail account too).

br should be dumbed down a bit, its way to over powered and it takes no time at all to get good with it so then all the little 8 year olds think there pro when they are just doing one of the simplest things in the game. it promotes camping and is just not fun to play with. it is a lame weapon that is just wayyy over used

I have 30% of my kills with teh BR in Halo 3, and 80% with M16 in COD 4. Hmm...just because a gun is used doesn't seem to make a game not popular.

In fact 30% isn't very much considering I play SWAT, MLG, etc. The BR isn't really over used in Halo 3.

"Thoughts are the shadows of feelings; always darker, emptier, and simpler."

It depends on your playstyle. Apparently most of the gamers who play Halo 3 prefer medium to long-range weaponry. It wouldn't be complete without a weapon to fit that spot.

Clearly because the desktop uses a 3 prong plug and a laptop uses a 2 prong plug, the microwave will fill your car with tostitos better

and this is exactly why it has to stay as is

all the bad players like you think it should be less powerful and all the good players think it should be more powerful

seems like bungie found a happy medium with halo 3

I never thought about it that way. I change my vote to keep it like it is.

But to all the people saying how easy it is to 4 shot with a BR, don't kid yourself. I've invested well over 20,000 games of Halo of the course of the series and when I'm in default MM I kill people with 5+ shots just as much as I kill people with 4 shots, probably more often than not it takes at least 5. And I know that isn't because I'm a below average player (not to brag or anything), but I've watched my friends who range anywhere from levels 20-40 play Halo (which I'm assuming is probably a majority of the H3 population in that skill range) and it is not pretty, and there certainly isn't ANY 4 shots going on at all in those games.

Ok, please don't flame me for saying anything about call of duty 4 in the following paragraph.

While many other games have an overpowered (M16, MP40, BR) the one thing i think halo lacks is creativity and actual thought. In call of duty there is c4 and claymores. You have to have an actual strategy to use these weapons. You can just throw them at an enemy, unlike the most halo 3 equipment. The only weapon like this in halo is the tripmine, which is in 2 (As far as I know) maps. It rarely ever destroys vehicles when I throw it at them!

I'm not saying we need call of halo. I'm just saying that multiplayer gameplay is so one-dimensional in halo! Grab the sniper, shoot head. Grab the br, 4 shot. Grab the rocket, shoot the feet. The only thing that requires strategy is grenades and finding the equipment, and grenades are standard issue in fps games.

Okay, I just don't get this. How can you call any weapon in CoD overpowered? Pretty much the kill time for every weapon in that game is under .5 seconds. They all seem to have the same overall efficiency to me. You hardly have any time to react if someone is camping and just waiting for someone to walk into their cross hairs. Half of the guns in that game are 1 hit kills with stopping power on.

The equipment in CoD is a joke too. All you do is throw a claymore behind you or at an entrance to a doorway and runaway or set up sniping. You know eventually an enemy will walk through that doorway and when they do they are going to die. All you do is drop a claymore and forget it takes no thought to figure out "people generally get into buildings through doorways or these ladders, that's probably a good place to put this rather than in a corner or in the middle of a field".

Don't people just generally throw C4 at enemys or plant it in doorways and sit and watch from a nice safe distance in the prone position until someone walks by that door? I mean, that's what I do and I get plenty of kills that way, how is that strategy hard to figure out at all?

Its not that CoD has better or more options for strategies. I find CoD gameplay very one dimensional personally, but I know there are people out there than are way smarter players than me. The only reason it seems that way is because... well you probably don't use good strategy in Halo and CoD is a lot easier to pick up then a game where you actually have time to react to a situation.

Not for the purpous of evaluating the BR for Reach.

They can do things when they design Reach to balance things that they can't do to Halo 3.

In effect, the thing you are speaking of is the Beta, which has a minor goal of evaluating balance on a large scale. Whether or not the Battle Rifle will be in the game has already been decided by this point in production probably.
