Get that corn out of my face!

Halo CE's design was really good when it came to campaign but it's multiplayer (in my opinion) has maybe half of the replay value, competition and excitement that Halo 2 and 3 can deliver. And one of the primary reasons has to deal with the shiled/health system. I have no doubt that the health system in ODST will work very well because it's mainly set for a campaign centered game; even the multiplayer is campaign-based in a sense.

As far as we know, Halo: Reach is more than likely going to have a '" 2-4 players split-screen and 2-16 players online/LAN " multiplayer system like custom games, matchmaking, etc. I don't mind some changes to the gameplay that can be considered "improvements", but what I'm wondering about is "how is the shield/health system going to be like?". Assuming that those character silhouettes in the Halo: Reach Forum bar above are just part of the campaign and Halo does NOT turn into a Team Fortress type of game in the multiplayer basis, what kind of armour will the Spartans have? Will it be the Mark IV suit like in the book or will it be like Master Chief's armour in Halo CE? I know Bungie will make the best decision that they can think of because they don't believe in just making something 'good enough', they make it awsome!

What do you guys think?

In Campaign I don't really care. Perhaps they can make up an excuse and say Cheif got a late shipment of Mark VI or something so everybody can have Mark VI in Campaign other then Chief (if we don't play as Chief), or perhaps Chief's mark VI broke down if we play as Chief. After all why would they develop new armor for 1 Spartan?

In multi-player I think its imperative they have no health. Health is very old skool, and it doesn't work well in multi-player. So perhaps they can say the MP is like a "prototype testing ground for Mak VI, or just have Halo 2/Halo 3 style health there?

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

The game is about the battle of Reach, so we will logically have Mk V armor (the Spartans recieved this roughly a day before Reach was invaded). I would like to have the same shielding system from Halo 1, with health bars, but no health packs.

For anyone confused, we would be able to see our health level, but it would regenerate like in Halo 2/3 (though at a much slower rate).

Probably not, because the health and shield system of Halo CE was only made that way because nobody had thought about a system like that of Halo 2's before. Halo CE was really the first video game to popularise recharging health as we know it today, as far as I know.

Exactly, i agree 100%, but i would still like to see Halo CE shields with health packs, they always made Halo CE on Legendary harder then the sequels on legendary.

That would work well, two separate health guages which recharge at different rates.

I don't care about Campaign but recheargeable health doesn't work for multi-player.

You dont.

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

I hope they actually continue to upgrade from Halo 3's shield/health system. Just because it goes back to Reach before Halo 1, doesnt mean they should go back to crappy shields/health packs.

Go for ODST style system. They're like the ones who were sooooooo close to being spartans, and Probably in Mark IV it's very similar to ODST shielding - less resistance, more 'health'.

I'm hoping that they do it right and have it like Halo CE. Besides the fact that this is more realistic, I think it could be more fun.

there will be shields mark 5 armor was deployed a day before the batte of reach

probably not as strong though...
