Sorry to say, but this is what I meant by the false title. Sure it attracts attention to your thread, but its the wrong kind of attention you want. Instead of getting responses from the people you're trying to show your ideas, you're getting negative comments from people who have the same basic idea as you. Please keep this in mind next time you post, and I'll look forward to reading your future threads...

So if Bungie took away the maps from ODST you would be happy?

Well why does Canada have to pay $70 for the game when many other games are released at $60?
Canada gets everything more expensive, it is becasue most people over there have higher wages than the US, and europe has games cheaper than the US because they have lowere average salary rates than the US. There, now everyone stop compainging about the prices being different in other countries.

with that said.... a price tag of 60 is still a load of bull

Mad About the Price Read This!

I read it, it doesn't change the fact that I don't like the price, I view this as an expansion (which it is) and thus it should have been priced as one. Yes, it's sixty dollars, I know that, no need to mention it. The affordability is not the issue, it's the principle.

But I'm not going to explain my stance, as it will fall on deaf ears. People will tell me the same thing, "It's only $60," "It's Halo," "It's made by Bungie," "All 360 games are $60," etc.

Bottom line: I'm not going to buy the game, if you are, that's fine. I'm not going to stop you, so you shouldn't care what I do (or don't do) with my money.

Halo 3: ODST, it's like this only a hell lot better.

Are you guys forgetting the concept that Bungie and Microsoft are both businesses designed to get money? Sure, Bungie is generous but really they still want money. They've been working hard on coding all of this, and even though it's on the same engine, they've been working constantly for things that would be impossible if they were starting from scratch. Really, they don't owe you anything. You do. So pay them, they need this money, just like everyone does. Bungie is just a group of people just like you and me. They want money too, they aren't some generous godlike entity, but at least they don't go to the extent of money milking as many of the third-party developers working for the Wii.

Just buy it and get on with your life. I bet almost all of you couldn't do the kind of coding they do daily in a year anyway.

i can't believe people are STILL pissed over the price.
(that wasn't directed to the OP, just in general)

i mean, seriously? it has more features than Halo CE had. yes, it does. no, i'm not lying.

Proof:
Halo CE features:
Campaign
2 Player Co-op
4 Player Split Screen (Multiplayer)

and up to 16 players via an Ethernet hub. Plus, nobody owned any of this prior to buying Halo:CE. Plus, games were $50 back then.

Posted by: dvfah
ODST features:
Campaign
4 Player Co-op (Possibly same TV? i can't remember if they covered this)
4 Player Split Screen (FireFight; again, it might only be 2 player split screen)

Nope, not split screen: XBL or sys-link for 4 player co-op. Plus, the campaign is about half as long as Halo:CE's. Furthermore you can't do any of the four player modes without XBL or another Xbox, so out of the box, the multiplayer features are the same as H:CE.

Posted by: dvfah
4 Player Online (Firefight)
Possible DLC (Judging by Bungie's track record, this is likely)
Reach Beta

Highly unlikely there will be DLC for ODST. This probably would have been DLC if they were still releasing it as an expansion as they had intended.

Posted by: dvfah
on top of all of that, you're getting the FULL Halo 3 Multiplayer experience.

which, for people like me (my H3 disk broke a while back) means i don't have to buy Halo 3 again.

see bolded above

Are you kidding? Artists owe way more to their fans than fans do to the artists. As soon as an artist thinks they can do no wrong, they get dropped in a heartbeat for taking their fans for granted.( read: Metallica, Sony, Nintendo [between N64 and the Wii], etc.)

This game has milk written all over it. According to eyewitness accounts, the second disc smells like gouda.

So? I can't make a movie like Transformers 2 either but that doesn't mean I should pay to watch that crap just because it's Transformers.

This is the one video game that's actually cheaper in England, it's only £30 here when the normal retail price for games is £40. So to me, bungie kept it's word when they said it wouldn't be full price. You americans complain all you want, it probably still would have been $40-50 without all the maps and multiplayer, so I think it's still a good deal over there.

Great. That doesn't change the fact that we're paying for something twice, and we are being overcharged. Also, do you have any citation saying that all 360 games must be $60? Because Shadowrun wasn't $60, and I'm sure I could find other examples if I cared that much.

Shadow Run didn't have a campaign of any sort plus Shadow Run's multiplayer was rather repetitive, didn't have a map maker, etc.

Plus it wasn't dreadfully popular and so after it's inital release at $100AU release it jumped down to about half that within a month or two.

here in Belgium (europe) the price is good, 49.99 euros is the "public price" but my retailer is always a little bit under the price so it could be 47-48 euros with sgt johnson if preordered.

I think it will be woth the price
