Subject: Mad About the Price Read This!

We mouth the vilest sacrament
And adhere to these tacit skirmishes
All for one day ideal and saffron-drenched
We ate each other's hearts out of serving dishes

Now if you actually had a clue what milking the cash cow is, you wouldnt be saying this. have you seen the games for the wii? you can play darts for $60, or get a crappy bowling game for $60, or get a crappy wiiware game fo $5-$15 dollars.

Now tell me, does ODST have any of these qualities : Crap, Quickly made by inexperienced developers, take advantage of the casual gamer population that doesnt know the value of a game, or have so little content you can't even justify a $10 pricetag? Think about what you say, idiot.

Bungie is just a group of people just like you and me. They want money too, they aren't some generous godlike entity, but at least they don't go to the extent of money milking as many of the third-party developers working for the Wii.

This game has milk written all over it. According to eyewitness accounts, the second disc smells like gouda.

I dont care if I support Bungie or not. The price is too high.
I have money and yes I can buy the game without any problems but I still think the price is too high.

I want to have these things in ODST if they're going to charge 60 dollars for a game :

Better melee system
The enemies needs new moves and they should be able to use double swords etc
We have seen that when you're fighting enemies in halo 3 there's usally 1 brute with 3 or 4 grunts. We need brute packs, 4- 5 brutes in 1 group instead of 1 brute with 4 grunts.
When you're fighting brutes all you need to do is shoot them a little bit , run to the brute and punch the brute 1 - 3 times. When you're punching the brute he wont do anything to you. They need to fix that.
The game needs to run at 60 fps
They need to code the game better and fix the framerate drops
Better graphics / new engine
. More things going on at the same time
Parts of the enemies body should be able to fall off. If you hit them with the sword on their legs they shouldn't be able to walk because they dont have any legs.
They need to fix the marines driving skills. If you're in the back of a warthog and you're letting a marine drive the warthog you're dead. They cant drive. Fix that.
Better Ai
Fix the servers. We dont want players to be hosts. Lagg free multiplayer thx.
We all remember the flood level in Halo 3 when Cortana and Gravemind poped up and slowed everything down all the time. We dont want that!
Better level design. We're not to happy about backtracking.

That is rediculous list of demands. try this: you make all those changes while bungie sits around and complains about what you did wrong.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

Thanks, it was really getting annoying how people got so upset over $20... I think it'll be worth it. If anyone doesn't, then they don't have to buy it.

Magic is magical, so are shoes... Along with plastic.
Don't forget to flush the toilet, because -blam!- stinks.

Prove me wrong,
but I'm pretty sure Bungie mentioned something about ODST being a FULL downloadable game (just the ODST part, not sure about the extra 3 MP maps) but this was told a little while ago.

So for now IF I'm correct (which i highly doubt cause ODST has turned out much larger than anticipated) people complaining about the price should...

Chillax, and stay friggin' positive.

Well why does Canada have to pay $70 for the game when many other games are released at $60?

This.

It's a currency exchange though, I would think.

I had to put up $78.96 for ODST.

$60 isn't expensive, anyways.

If you ever try and fail.....erase all evidence that it was you who tried

Let me point out that Shadowrun was not a full game. The developers were going out of business and decided to ship out what they had finished

Oh, and that "Expansion" for GTA IV was $60.00 then? No. It was 20.

You sir, are the idiot. You obviously don't know the difference between making a bad game and the expression, "milking the cash cow".

If a game is made poorly, no one will buy it. Let me rephrase that for you're simple little mind. If game bad, people no likey. If people no likey: game no makey moneys.

Now, if you take a successful franchise and make a smaller less meaningful expansion just to make more money off of the previous titles reputation, that's "milking the cash cow".

It doesn't matter if the story fits perfectly, it just matters that it fits well enough to relate to the rest of the trilogy. It doesn't matter that it's only a 4-6 hour campaign, as long as you add an extra disc of content that 90% of your fan base has anyways.

Okay this is why you're mad
"But I already paid for those maps!" "Bungie I want a refund! I Already paid for them!" "I already paid for matchmaking! And Forge!" "But I already paid for Halo 3"

Now I Get To Correct All Of You

Regardless if they had added that stuff into the Halo 3 ODST package the game would have cost $60 anyways. Micro$oft has certain standards for newly realesed games they must be at full retail price i.e. $60. Bungie decided that the game wasn't worth that much, but because of Micro$oft they would have to realease it at that price. Bungie added all dlc for Halo 3 plus the new Mythic maps, and the complete Halo 3 multiplayer expierience to fill in that $30-$20 gap. So all you are really doing is paying for the game. They added that stuff in there for free. For all you evil and selfish people out there. Just friggin buy it to support them if you don't think it's worth the money.

Or maybe the game was already $60 but Bungie decided to throw in the rest of that stuff for free. So be grateful youre paying for one game, and getting free stuff along with it. Just think of it as you're paying for a completely new game, and free stuff is coming with it
Bottom bit.
The top bit is sooo wrong. Bungie even stated in an interview that the reason its full price is because midway through development they decided to make it a full game and not an expansion anymore.

facepalm.

I'm Canadian, i'm buying it here in Canada, and preordered it in person. it is $60 canadian.

not $70 that might be what some games have come out to because of the difference in the Canadian/ American Dollars, but as they are generally at par with each other lately the price should vary between $63 CDN(Alberta-only GST)- and $69.30(PEI- GST and PST) depending on what province you live in and the sales tax they charge.

in the US it is very similar in the fact that the price will range from $60 USD(Delaware-0% sales tax)- and $65.70 USD(king county(aka Seattle) at 9.5% as of April 1st 2009)

The Canadian Dollar currently sits at $0.90 USD as of noon 20/07

However the Canadian Dollar sat at $0.98 USD as of closing the day Microsoft set the price of ODST. This means the Dollars are considered "At Par" at the time of release, setting the price at $60(without applicable taxes) in both countries.
