I think Enkidu will be a character in the game, just like Cortana - makes sense to me since that seems to be the way it works. Then again, this might have changed by now.

Ok so i was referring to the new creature that will be in halo 2. And all of the secret stuff that Enginerring is working on. I just found it a little wierd that less than a week before Franky says something about a secret dude, this all start to come out.

sorry I menat to reply to this sooner...

the secret stuff we'll see in a week or two... gota be E3.

the new character... I came to the conclusion that it wasn't Enkidu because Frankie said it was top secret... Enkidu is kinda out of the bag... it could be JD though - we still know pretty much nothing about him/her other than they're important

Something I wanted to mention... and I don't think this is likely (but I'm throwing it out there just in case)

We have tied the Enkidu Terminals to the Halo universe... no doubt about that, but what if this isn't Halo 2???

What if the Enkidu Terminals are a hint at a new game, a spin off from the Halo storyline - with JD as the playable character. This game could play more like Marathon with terminals and such (we haven't seen terminals like this in Halo).

The Cortana Letters were a hint at a game no one even knew the name of - many marathon fans thought it was going to be Marathon 4. Bungie might have us thinking this is going to be Halo 2 then turn around and annouce that they are starting work on this new game - based on the Halo 2 engine but set at the time of Halo - the storyline starts off as we have seen in the Enkidu terminals... JD has to cope with a rampant AI, uncover the mysteries of Frigid, do battle with the local inhabitants - and warn Reach of it's impending doom...

am I crazy or am I so crazy I just might be right?

That's a crazy idea GOD Halo Fan, but I
wouldn't go that far. I'd say that maybe
there is a prologue in Halo 2 where you
get a chance to play as a seperate char-
acter like and ODST or new kind of
spartan. But you may be crazy enought to
be right.

Dagoonite mentioned Snow Crash by
Neal Stephenson earlier, and I found out
that part of the plot in that book had to do with
Sumerian artifacts. If anyone has read this
book please post how you might think it
relates to the Enkidu terminals. Good hit
Dagoonite! This book could provide a lot
of answers.

There were reasons why I mentioned it, after all. I think I have everything about it memorized. Still, I don't have the free time right now to compose any theories about it yet. Either that, or I'm just too lazy. Probably the laziness.

The information in that book is slanted towards the ideas of the author for the purposes of the story, but if there's one thing that I've learned is that the Bungie staff is very well rounded, and they seem to pull ideas from a variety of sources. Who knows?

An ironic thought that I had is that some of what is being written is partially determined by our thoughts here. Either by Bungie or by the person writing the fanfic of whatever. Either way, this person is well read, with a possible education in history, or with enough free time to do lots of research. They also have a deal of knowledge in computers. While that isn't too surprising these days, it does make for an interesting bit of thought.

If our author is watching us, take a bow. You've got at least a few people absolutely enthralled.

It was made sticky, but then it was made unsticky by recent news items... doesn't matter - we don't get quite as much duplication as only the people who really want to know about this stay with the thread...

Has anyone ever wondered how ships communicate to bases and ships on other star systems?

On prologue ii in the Enkidu transmissions, Rear Admiral Miller sent the letter from Reach at exactly 14:18:19 08.01.2552.. In the terminal it says its 04:03:53 08.25.2552 which is around 24 days after the letter was sent. In transmission 3 Enkidu says that they have no way of contacting Reach and telling them a Covenant ship was so close to the base. The reason im wondering how they communicate is because E. never mentioned that the Lebanon's comm system never failed or got destroyed. Then again he probably didnt need to but oh well im just speculating.

No, it means the date it was recieved was 24 days prior to the re-reading of it. God Halo Fan is right.

Silva - no you missed my point... the mail arrived on the 1st - 24 days later they didn't need a communications system to get the mail. On top of that, the UNSC Lebanon had not left for the current mission (as mentioned in the letter). So when Enkidu says they can't contact Reach the Communications system is deffinatly down and out - they had just been in a ship to ship battle which normally leaves UNSC ships in a very very bad way.

Yay! Recap time. Someone requested it, so I'm going to try and restate the major points about the Enkidu Transmissions.

First, Re: Amendment Request OPORD SENTRYWALK: Not important to the mythology scheme. It's simply just mail stating that the Lebanon and it's crew have been ordered into something called SENTRYWALK, most likely a patrol system in attempt to keep the Covenant from Reach, since they seem to be getting closer. Forced to go to solo because Akkad was unable to repair her engine. (Interestingly enough Akkad is an ancient city from Babylon, the area in which all mythological sources in the Enkidu Transmissions are from. The very fact that it's mentioned here is significant, since it was by a human named Tom. Not the AI, which implys that the references from the AI about all those Summarian Myths are significant, not just the AI believing it was there.)

Second, General Quarters 08:10 08:18:2552: Likewise, not important to the mythlogy being speculated about. Covenant forces engaged the Lebanon. They're going to battle. That is all.

Third, please allow me to introduce myself : We've deduced as follows (All that's in itallics is my interjections and writings:

Once I was wild. Wild shall I be once again. He's not happy about being tame. Not happy at all.

I was seduced into urbanity before I could discover better. Urbanity is sophistication. This is a reference to Shamhat (Mentioned later in Transmissions). In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu was essentially forced manners into by Shamhat, the harlot who also took him to bed. He doesn't sound too happy about it. Howerver, from all I've seen, this is opposite of what happens in the epic of Gilgamesh (just like Enkidu's story). I may be wrong, but in the translations I've seen, Enkidu didn't seem pissed about this at all.

I was fabled before rings were. Reference to Halo
I was legend before Leonidas was born. He was a Spartan (Halo, of course), so this is probably Myth, being legend before Halo
I was epic before demons rode in the dawn sky. Oni=demons from Shinto religion
I was myth before a sword awoke from a stolen rocky womb. Marathon. Reference to Durandal, I believe
I was sentenced into darkness before Theseus found his foe. Pathways into Darkness and Minitaur; Theseus is the one who slew the Minitaur in Mythology
I was killed before my home was scourged by western winds of war. Desert Storm
I was driven raving mad before dear Dot bounced off the cushioned walls. Gnop. That's Pong spelled backwards. That pretty much sums it up

( ( I ) ) [i]The overall design is of an Eye. (Some say it's 343 GS, though. Notice how the letter I is right in the center. I, Eye, I, Eye.)[i]

Wait. It's really late. Really, really late. I'll try and finish the recap early tommorow (when I'll start going on about everyone's theories and whatnot.) And go through the rest of the Mythology. Until then, goodnight. Stay tuned. I will finish my recap. I will.

I had thought about this being a new game. But I am not so sure. With E3 so close i think bungie is just grabbing our attention. Oh and about my idea of the new character: Could it be possible that he is on Frigid and is going to be released it is just an idea. I am not sure.

Why does bungie play with our minds? Why?

Because we like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the Forerunners are at Frigid and that's why the covenent decided we should die. We were getting too close, and they don't want us to wake up the forerunners. I dunno LoL just blabbing.

ok here are my idea so far-

There was another halo in the frigid system (afterall why would the forerunner build different installations to study the flood when they could just mass produce one!) and it had its own monitor. However it broke -got hit by something- and pieces of it drifted apart, some of which crashed into the surface of frigid, in this crash the monitors body was damaged so he had to upload himself into the remaining computer systems on the halo piece.

Fast forward to just before the events of the first game, there is a ship The Lebanon on a new patrol route and it encounters a lone covenant ship (why would the covenant leave only one ship near a forerunner site?). After successfully engaging the threat the Lebanon destroys the covie ship but takes heavy damage. The crew are told to abbandon ship in the pelicans (presumably so the crew could launch back up into space once the Lebanon had rounded the sun), and land on Frigid.

However things go wrong. Some covenant survivors board the Lebanon once the crew have left and try to take over the ship, they are fought off, but the lebanon's command crew take heavy casualties- Cpt. Mathers dies? - JD is one of the few remaining crew.

On Frigid the landing of the pelicans goes wrong- they crash and have to seek shelter within the structure the covenant uncovered. Using code breaking equipment (E can't be as sosphisticated as Cortana) the humans enter the structure. Then to get E back up and running at 100% the crew interface her with the forerunner computer system (just like cortana does in the game) except this time there is already an AI in the system- The halo's monitor.

Obviously the monitor has gone a bit do-lally in the thousands of years trapped in the computer and feels threatened when E is uploaded, so tries to take her/him over. The attempt is only partially successful, and bits of E still surface.

Meanwhile JD is on the lebanon possible by him self, and is trying to find out something (why else would he be looking through the captain's email). unless there are several people still on board one of whom is an ONI spook. I kind of like this as it would still allow JD to be one of the 3 missing spartans. unless JD is a spartan who's been recruited by ONI

i'm guessing now but JD is gonna have to go down to the planet and get E back, as leaving an AI is against the cole protocol. however E stated that there is a pest problem, which surely means there are flood on the planet who have already killed all the humans/covies on the planet.

so when JD goes to retrieve E, he gets infected with the flood (remember in 'The Flood' the master chief is almost infected and is only saved by cortana), as he doen't have an AI to save him. So the new character Frankie was talkin about could be a flood infected spartan!!

sorry for the long post, but i think thats most of my ideas!

Warden - if even parts of a halo ring crashed into Frigid there would be nothing left - the impact would destroy everything, the building, the flood, etc.
If you really think there is Flood on Frigid - make it easy on yourself and say that the Forerunners built the building ON Frigid to study the Flood.

P.S. I am in the process of creating a summary of the Enkidu Terminals as a separate website - it would be too much to post... I'll let you know when I'm finished...

what i'm trying to say is that the building is part of the halo ring from the frigid system. And when i say a part of the ring hit frigid, it would only have to be a small section a couple KM like an large asteroid impact, and inside this section there were some flood and the damaged monitor.

i just prefer this idea to saying the forerunner built an entirly new installation on frigid to study the flood (not only would it be easier to mass produce several halo's than build lots of different installations, it would also be a lot easier to control and study the flood if the installation was a completly artificial environment rather than a planet).

just my thoughts though...

I did understand what you were trying to say... and I think it's more likely the Forerunners would have built more Halo rings rather than a planetside installation - but that the reason I think there isn't Flood on Frigid as part of a study program.

there have been meteors the size of a golf ball that have hit earth and caused a crater 2 meters deep... so you can imagine what something that's "just" a couple of K's would do... no building would survive... let alone life forms..

i do understand that a section of the ring a couple of k's big would destroy a lot of what was already on the surface (kinda like the meterorite that helped to kill the dinosaurs) but i was trying to work out how the flood got on fridgid, because from what E mentions about pests and bad house keeping its sounds very much like the flood. And i don't think the forerunners would have been stupid enough to study the flood in an uncontained environment.

i know its not the soundest of ideas but it might also explain why frigid is so cold- all the debris in the atmosphere from the impact block out the sun etc. but then again it might just be at the edge of the solar system. anyway i'm kinda going off topic here...
