Enkidu is still a mystery. He's allowing the humans access to the Forerunner facility (what it obviously is at this point, otherwise the Covenant would have destroyed the planet). However, he obviously doesn't want JD communicating with any of the survivors for whatever reason. Not an enemy, not a friend. Things have just gotten interesting.
What we ahve to figure out is why Enkidu, whatever he has become, has let the humans into the Forerunner facility. On Halo they studied the Flood, perhaps Halo wasn't the only Flood studying installation? Or, perhaps, something worse is hidden there on Frigid, something so bad that the Forerunners wouldn't even put it on a Halo. Maybe, just maybe, some kind of protocol has entered Enkidu's code, a protocol that states whatever is there on Frigid must be studied.
We also now know that not all the crew is gone, but a distressing number are dead and the rest scattered. Things look bleak, even hopeless unless our mysterious JD is a Spartan, I don't see how the crew have any hope against a Covenant Battle fleet and attendant army. That is, unless Enkidu is acting mysterious for a benign reason. Perhaps Enkidu has a plan that can save his crew, and though he has become unhinged due to whatever's in the Forerunner network, he's trying to save his crew. Mathers even says that the tunnels they're in are great for fighting off superior numbers, and it gives them shelter from Frigid's atmosphere while the Covenant must still contend with a hostile environment. However, if Enkidu is a benign entity, why does he keep JD separate from the rest of the survivors? Could Enkidu have some other plan in mind for JD, and if so, what?
We now know that Enkidu is an AI. And if JD is a Spartan perhaps the references to Leonidas are references to JD. My theory? Enkidu wants to interface with JD and gain the power of a Spartan, for whatever reason.
Something else to consider, is that the events of Halo are now occurring. Perhaps there is an intergalactic Forerunner netowrk, and what 343 Guilty Spark is observing on Halo Enkidu is also seeing. The power of Cortana and the Chief together must be tempting for Enkidu. Or, perhaps, 343 Guilty Spark has soem inkling of what might happen to his beloved Installation 04 and is having Enkidu attempt to take over another Spartan to combat the Master Chief...
