Here we go again. Flood... Check it out. Maybe this is how they get into Halo 2.

What's leading you to believe it's The Flood?

It's the flood because in halo everyone though the flood facility was just a weapons cache. They called it the same thing in halo as they do now. the covenant wanted to lock it down and the humans wanted it.

This could be a pre-Halo structure. That means that this was an original containment facility for the flood. But something happened. Not sure what. Nuclear War, maybe. (This could even be the ruined world from X03). Something sent this planet into a deep ice age that covered up the facility totally beneath the surface. And so the forerunners left in a hurry. Then came the fortress worlds. It could be because of what happened on Frigid that they were designed. Maybe it was a close call and they decided they needed additional security measures for the flood. Maybe something totally different... Maybe someone tried to free them/steal them and they were using Frigid because it was already a ruined ice world

That's my line of thinking at any rate, and the only explanation I can fathom as to why there are flood on a non-fortress world.

But what worries me is how close to Reach they are. How easy would it be for the flood to simply latch on to a passing ship? They could hop onto the Sword of Justice, or maybe the Ascendant Justice/Gettysburg sails by sometime. The possibilities are endless.

On the third to last level in Halo, 2 Betrayals. The room that you start in when the drones start shooting you. If you notice there is a giant hologram of a halo, there is a planet in the center with a small halo orbiting it. You can see this better if you bring a banshee back. Anyways, the big ring is probably installation 04, but I do not recall if the planet is in the middle of the cinematic scene when the ring is destroyed. What is the little ring? Could frigid be like one of these smaller Halo's? Just thought I would bring this up for discussion.

Also concerning the comments that JD is an Elite. If Bungie allows us to be Elites, it would not surprise me if we could be them on certain campaigns. Its obvious that we are going to befriend them, remember the Legendary ending. Besides, who would want to be the bad guys? Not too many people, thats why we are going to be reintroduced to them in a different way.

The little ring is Halo, the big ring is nonexistant. It's just a projection of Halo in the control room.

Elites will probably never be our friends. That legendary ending was just a joke, nothing special.

Well you have the huge ring for detail and maybe the small one for size comparision. The small planet might just be the moon.

Heh, not likely. Elites and friends isn't really in the Covenant vocabulary. Being raised, bred and taught to fight, mame, kill all humans doesn't just go away overnight. And lets not jump to conculsions about anything, Flood, frozen Halo's or otherwise. I just hope we get to do this later one way or another.

January 30, 2004 (Warthog's Day)
The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

How could JD be an Elite and no one know it? JD won't even believe it himself. If JD is Covenant what could make him look and sound human.

My theory (no evidence what so ever to back this) on what JD is that could make the Capt. not trust him is he is a Flood - Battlemaster. From the inspiration book the Vang, the Battlemaster has the ability to take an ifiltration form preserving the look of the host. JD's masters would be the Gods of Axeone-Neurone, similar to the Keys blob. I say ONI has known about the flood and has been experimenting with them.

Or JD has just been manipulated by ONI and has no ideas what they have been doing to him.

There a couple of crack pot ideas take them as you will.

I have a few questions and would very much appreciate some answers. First, could someone help me understand the Cortana Letters, by telling me what they mean (i wasn't around for all the games you guys are talking about). Second, I know i'm not the only one that notices this, but don't the letters sound very much like what happened with the flood in Halo 1? I mean, the AI, the "weapons cache", the tunnel war, it all sounds familiar. The Elites and friends thing can't happen, just not in covenant nature, also, i have to agree with whoever it was that talked about Frigid being a first base to house the flood, and that the Halos were designed to make sure they never got too far away. Anyway, just thought i'd put in my two cents.

You asked, "a little knowledge is what"? My answer to this is: Power. Knowledge is Power. Enkidu seems to want power and is using JD to get it, but for what reason?

I'm getting the feeling more and more that JD might be under ONI, or doing something covert-ish for ONI. (That name alone makes them evil, but I digress.) Which leads back to my personal belief that either ONI is doing something with the Covenant, or it's their fault that all of this is going on. The books gave me that feeling.

Also, was I the only one who noticed that the previous one had the metatag "bailing_wire_and_duct_tape"? I think that said indication points to the fact that Enkidu doesn't have as good of control as he thinks he does.

Now, I still say that this is a facility that is the platform mentioned in the Making Of movie for Halo 2. Now, moving along, some time back, somebody mentioned the idea of the Flood being a biological weapon. On the surface, this is a great idea, however the problem with such a biological weapon is that you can't really control it. If it is allowed any freedom, it could wipe out a planet and beyond. The forerunners SHOULD have had more of an insight than that. No, there's a parasite, and a rather nasty one at that.

Next up, Enkidu. I think that he's just suffering from file corruption due to programming conflicts and alien source. If the facility were to be originally awaiting the enterance of an AI into the system, when Enkidu were to access it, the facility could try and intigrate it. That would be pretty good at scrambling it. I wonder what sort of a challange he would be for Cortana...

Anybody up for a good debate?

I have to say this just keeps going and going... and we're only halfway (not including the prolouge). 12 down 12 to go...

IF this does turn out to be a mission in Halo 2, JD is going to have to wait for a while... I think the events on Halo are just about to start, then MC's gotta go save Earth and Mars?, then head for Frigid...

Theories about Frigid having a Halo ring surfaced again... even though there is even less evidence of that... huge tunnel networks, etc. At the same time posibilities of Flood are increasing...

As for JD being Covenant... unlikely. I think JD's real masters are:

1) Enkidu himself. Enkidu may be setting JD up, so that Capt. Mathers believes he's working against the Humans...
2) The Forerunners. I know we haven't seen them and we're unlikely to... but Enkidu patched himself with Forerunner tech, and may be working to carry their unfulfilled plans...
3) ONI. There was lots of pressure for this mission to go ahead with no obvious reason. If Capt. Mathers had had something special aboard, I'm sure he would have known about it... unless JD is an undercover ONI spook carrying out a special mission.

Enkidu said Capt. Mathers wouldn't trust him, if JD was Covenant they would't just lose faith... they'd kill him. Personally I lean to the 3 option, explains the pressure on the mission, explains why JD is both useful and special to Enkidu, and finally it explains why Capt. Mathers would lose trust in him.

EDIT: Ahh... Dagoonite beat me to it. Damn my slow typing, Damn it to Hell.... ;-)

this may be a little out there, but does anyone else thinnk that the "he" in #11 could be referring to 343GS? Here's my line of thinking. In HALO, GS thinks that MC is a reclaimer, which seems to be a postition formerly filled by some forerunner. Now, if this is another Forerunner installation, which it definately seems to be (but NOT a HALO ring), then it would hold that it would have another guardian analogous to 343GS, perhaps even GS himself. Now, "Take a shine to you, indeed" really sounds like something GS would have said. Furthermore, GS didn't understand who the MC really was until the Maw, as he was treating MC like he had been there before, when talking to him, etc. (basically, treating him like a forerunner). So the "he" pronoun in this passage very well could be a GS.

anyone read the latest news from bungie?

In his first answer Max talks about Secret Decoder Rings:
Of course we were talking about this on the level of secret decoder rings and midnight frogblast the ventcore missions, but that's beside the point
Sounds to me like a level in Marathon... more connections to bungie and marathon...

I just assumed it was Capt. Mathers as he is the only other person talking to you... and at the moment he's trusting and relying on JD.

Yeah, but these are the people who built a weapon of mass destruction that wipes out all life in the galaxy in order to save it from the flood, who in turn, wipe out all life in the galaxy. Idiot savants, perhaps?

We know Ackerson has a top secret project that involved specific information on all of the Spartans. Maybe he has made his own version of a Spartan and this is one of them. Not sure if this has been mentioned.

only about 20 times...

The consensus seems to be that it's a remote possibility... we would need more evidence, etc. We haven't even proved JD is a spartan.

if you want to futher this theory, find some answers...
when did Ackerson take off to create his "spartans"?
could Ackersons project have produced a "spartan" by the time these events started?
would Ackerson have been able to get a "spartan" aboard the UNSC Lebanon before this mission?
If Ackerson had "spartans" before the fall of Reach, how come we still don't know if they exist?

and the list goes on...

it's just someone setting up a site to analyze the terminals... not Enkidu. I'm in the process of doing that myself...

yeah, frog blast the ventcore was what evil bob bombs (impersonators) were running around saying before they would blow up on you in marathon.

i think JD is a spartan and Enkidu is an AI. it just reminds me sooo much of a lot of things durandal would say to our cyborg buddy in marathon.

everytime I do something on it there's another terminal to analyze and discuss... it's like catch 22 or something...

Thank Bobtomatoe... do you remember any secret decoder rings? Enkidu said JD had them in "It's A Cold Day Here In Hell..." is this yet another marathon connection?
