After reading Frankie's Friday update this week and today's entry. It's really looking like this is a background story for something they are going to reveal at E3 next week. Maybe it's a new character or the whole plot. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what Bungie pulls out of there sleeve this week.

in response to tartarus' message:

it could be possible that whilst the covenant were digging around on another forerunner site they found mention of race that the forerunners feared, perhaps the flood, and mistook this to mean the humans. It could also be plausible then to say that until this mention of the feared species, that the covenant had been watching the humans and then launched their attack (thats pretty sketchy but i cant remember what happened at first contact). And as far as i know no covenant left the halo system alive (again i cant remember if there was a mention of this) so the rest of the covenant battlefleet are not likely to find out about the flood.

but, at least as far as my knowledge goes, cant the covenant communicate with the high command (or whatever it is called)? i thought that cortana said somthing about intercepting transmissions from high command to the line-animals. i dont think that the covenant rely on word of mouth communication, but i am just speculating.

This has almost certainly been said, but in my opinion, The crew of the Lebanon have done battle with a Covenant ship called The Sword of Justice, both ships have been abandoned and the lifeboats have landed on an ice planet called Frigid. There is an underground building there that has been excavated by the Covenant. This is almost certainly a forerunner building, as inside there are "Holy Artifacts." So far, the Lebanon's crew landed there and had to use Enkidu (Lebanon's Ship AI) to open some doors and eventually implanted him inside the system, from there he has been corrupted, by i think 343 GS I also want to add, the Forerunner might have implanted their minds into robots in a Total annihilation type thing, which in my opinion makes 343 an actualy Forerunner. This would also explain why E. (possibly 343/Ekindu) says Thats right, i was a man, although i dont i think i could wear skin anymore. Here comes the big bit, The marines have gone to an area near a Weapons Cache, where E. cant attack them or hurt them. Now Weapons cache, sounds familiar doesnt it? Now the one marine who E. doesnt hurt or spew gibberish at (possibly another reclaimer) goes to meet the captain near the weapons cache, Then E. goes crazy and startes shouting, dont open that door, i know you men like big flashes and noises, but you dont want to see whats behind that door. No dont open that door, no no NO!!!!! (or something to that effect).

So to recap, Humans find a covenant excavation on Frigid, they defeat the covies crash on Frigid go inside the Forerunner building. Their AI is corrupted (possibly by 343 GS) and starts to attack them with his "Fancy new repair drones" (Sentinels) They open the door to a Weapons Cache and release the flood, oh -blam!-e, there goes the galaxy, which is where Halo 2 comes in, the humans beat back the covenant, find out about the flood and decide to use the rings, possibly keeping Humans on them, thus destroying the flood and covenant but keeping the humans alive.

Tartarus,
You asked me what the human's sins were, and
after I finished writing I realized I didn't clarify, so
thanks for asking.
To explain, you have to know my theory on the
Forerunner. (This is a HUGE credit to Dagoonite
for his theory)

I believe that the Forerunner gifted human kind
with sentience.

One day they happened to find
our nice little planet earth, and these uncultured
beasts running around on two feet and with
working thumbs. The Forerunner see potential
in our early form, and gift us with sentience in
exchange for our loyalty. Well, as you've
guessed, we didn't hold up our end of the
deal, and that's our "sin." The Forerunner abandon
our galaxy alltogehter, leaving the races that
make up the Covenant a little P.O.ed because
they did not want to be free of the Forerunner,
so, by their definition, they don't sin.

This is a very sketchy version of the theory, but
hopefully it will clear up what I think the humans
did to make the Covenant so Grouchy.

EDIT: I just read your post on the lost colony
worlds, and I think that your ideas are very
good. They seem like they could all work, so
maybe we'll just have to wait for Halo 2 to find
out.

I agree, the Enkidu letters taken as a whole almost look like it could be the storyline/layout for Halo 2. The titles for each terminal feels like they could be names for each level. I know that's far-fetched, but just an idea to toss out.

Sorry I haven't been around guys but here it goes:
The new entry seems to point out that they found the 'weapons cache', obviously, and E doesn't want them in there for obvious reasons. But what I want, is to know what the hell is behind that bloody door!!! Seriously, this would open up a WIDE door for us in finding plots for Halo 2 because we'd know something of what we were up against. Granted, it won't give it away and I'm sure we wouldn't want to share our wealth of knowledge anymore since we've worked so hard :D.

It seems that many in the forums think that it's the Flood, or perhaps a new unannounced species. I think E3 may help answer some questions.

We've been speculating on that for a while in this thread, that's why I just need to know now ;). It's starting to annoy me a tad and make me just want to get it over with. Patience only lasts so long :D.

I don't beleive 343 GS corrupted Enkudo. Remember, the Lebanon was still in communication with reach and this happened before the events on Halo. Also it said that Enkudo had some sort of troubles transferring and patched in errors with some sort of alien programming. Remember when Cortana tore apart that Covenant AI in First Contact? Maybe E met up with a Forerunner AI or even Covenant AI and tore him down and used some of his coding to patch himself up, risky but necessary. Unfortunately it obviously corrupted him. As for whats on the other side of that door, its almost certainly the flood. E said "I know you like flashy toys and guns (or whatever) but this is most certainly not what you're looking for" In other words, this isn't the kind of weapon you want to release. I don't feel that this is solely setting up a plot for Halo 2 but its most certainly adding to it. Frigid sounds as though its fairly close to Reach and Reach is close to Earth. We know GS is still at large, and the Flood is rumored to be making a reappearance in Halo 2. But with all of it from the first Halo destroyed, the release of the Flood on Frigid would put that rumor into motion. I wonder though who Enkudo keeps talking to? The one Captain Mathers said that E would talk to straight and not in cryptic poetry and literature? Another Spartan possibly? I rather thought they were all accounted for but who knows? Or maybe something to do with that detestable Colonely Ackerson's project? I really hope he gets a bullet through the forehead by the MC himself, that guy is up to no good. HE'S the reason the Covies found Earth in the first place. Anyway, perhaps E3 will shed some light.

I found this on HBO. Has meaning for terminal 13.

According to the site listed below Louis XV's most famous quote was
"apres moi, le deluge"

translated: "after me, the flood"

Well, there are some strange consoles that tell a story of something happening on Frigid, so we are just trying to figure out any tie-ins with the story line of Halo 2, and to read between the lines to figure out in more detail what is happening on Frigid.

Oh yes, I like the theory someone thought up about the sections having to do with insanity - the 'Waking up is hard to do' and 'Appatite for distruction'. I think that connection is good evidence that Enkidu really has gone rampant. (Oh wait, we already knew that... Well, just some more proof of it then.)

thanks for the update.
ive seen the terminal stuff and i must admit that i'm confused as well. I'm trying to figure out what's going on, and tying it with Ackerson's stupidity.

What i know for certain is that the Flood will be back for Halo 2. 343 GS said himself that there were more installments (or halos) out there, containing the Flood. Maybe he will have been able to enslave the Flood and bring them to earth, or maybe i'm just an idiot. In any case, i vow to be a part of this lengthly disscussion on figuring out the strange post.

Sorry, but i bet you guys already figured out by now what i just said. o well.

The Flood can't be enslaved. They are an 'unstoppable' infection, that is why the Ring Fortresses can kill all sentient life - it was the only defense against the flood that the Foreunners had. But of course, like humans, they preserved something that could kill them. (Mabe Halo was a message to humanity from Bungie - don't preserve a deadly disease you have no way of controling.) And there are deafinantly more Fortresses, because the one in Halo was instalation 04, implying that there are AT LEAST 3 others.

well, i'm gonna read the other half of the terminal stuff. I'm so intrested infinding out what happened, even though the forum gives them away.

adios for a few minutes!

  • 05.08.2004 12:13 PM PDT

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

We all definitely know that there will be another Halo instalation in Halo 2, and that the flood will be back. And all this stuff on Frigid seems all too similar to the events of uncovering the flood on Halo 1. "the galactic romp" mentioned in the "making of Halo2" suggests that we'll get to see what's going on on Frigid. The last weekly update has all this talk about CENSORED that's really top heavy and handles like a big CENSORED on a stick.... this seems like a new race that we'll have to take down and I'm sold on it being these CENSOREDs that was causing the tremors.

possible theories of flood implications in Halo 2:

1) Master Chief (and the new playable spartans -probably JD too) exterminate the Flood presence on Frigid and then seek out other Halos or "fortress-worlds" to do the same.

2) The flood take over a Human or Covenant ship and pilot it to earth where the MC and company are waiting, SMG's and Jackhammers ready.

3) Cortana and Ekindu team up with there knowledge of Forerunner stuff and send the Chief on a mission to use the Flood against the Covenant, OR/AND, then use the remaining Halo constructs too wipe out what's left (all save for human controlled space).

What do you think?

OK. SO we know flood will be back, Ediku (is that how you spell it?) is corrupted and i found a secret message stating EDIKU LIVES! Stupid poetry. I'm tired of him.

Well, it seems a concustion has been reached. I'm wanna see how this turns out.

Or do I...?

I don't know if this has been remarked or not, just spotted it when reading thru this thread(havent read it all), but here goes:
Has anyone noticed that the Cryobay B Terminal Access Port that appears in some of the posts is VERY similar to the mathematical constant pi?
The port has the number: 3.141.5.93.
Pi has infinite decimals but the most exact definition I know is: 3,14159
I don't think it's significant but it's curious.

All the ports have mathmatical trick to them. For example, the portable terminal has a port of 2.4.8.16. Well, that's just because it 2 to the X power. 2*2=4*2=8*2=16. I think they all have something like that. It's just something cool the author added in.
