Me: "OMFG, Dude... wtf!"
AbolitionofMan: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to betray you."
Me: "That's the 4th time in this game alone!"
Chris: "Third, besides he had the flag I was trying to stop him, how was I supposed to know you were there."
Me: "I said, 'I got the Flag, don't shoot.'"
Chris: "Well those Wraith shots take a while to reach you."
Me: "You were right next to me, I had killed him and a minute passed before you decided to shoot."
Chris: "Hahahahaha, yeah... that was great."

Noir, any ideas what could be holding them down. I was thinking the same as you...but maybe the technology has a set perameter...like..after something takes off after so many meters it brings it down...like a barrier limit or something. Also, perhaps its in combination with the enviroment. The auroa's and the Forerunner technology could be what's doing it. Maybe it causes something to happen...I don't know...I'm reaching.

Noir, thanks for the support, however there are many reasons that i rule out that JD was standard personal aboard the Lebanon. Here is is:

1) Message #11 enkidu says, " I didn't know that you could make covenant weapons do that much damage." Only a Spartan would be capable of using covenant weapons like this, plus, clear out a room full of covenant forces all alone.

2) Message #16 Captain Mathers says "Be careful up there. For all we know there could be a hundred Elites camped out on top of that platform. We just know that they haven't tried to open that door. Stay warm, and remember to watch for ammo misfeeds from the cold. Or maybe you don't need me to tell you that, "sailor". Only a spartan would go into a situation where ther could be hundres of Elites. Also only a weapons trained warrior would know about cold misfires in the cold weather. Mathers states he doesn't need to tell him this and calles him "sailor". Spartans are part of the Navy.

3) Message #17 Enkidu says to JD "Fleet Command doesn't matter anymore. Admirals don't matter anymore. If what I'm getting from the Covenant battlenet means anything there they don't even exist anymore. Yes, that's right. They found Reach and they glassed it. Two weeks ago, maybe more. So your precious orders don't matter." why would a mechanic or any other standard personel have special orders from Fleet Command? Only someone special with adequait training to carry out a special mission would have orders from such important people/institutions.

4) Message #18 Mathers says, "I've pushed a NAV point for you to help you get back to us. We need every able body we can get, and your training is badly needed. Don't rush, but get here as quickly as you can." I don't think that they are trying to fix/working on anything. Remember Mathers hooked up with LT.Demarais' group. they are the group that managed to unlock the doors and put Enkidu in the network. they obviously have the skills needed. however, they aren't really trying to do anything but survive now. They need a warrior to protect their asses who is specially trained in combat.

So definately JD is not a mechanic or anything else ordinary, Maybe some special ops guy, but most likely a Spartan.

This sounds almost parallel to the events on halo....... only this time it isn't a ringworld, it's a sphereworld. Maybe MC comes to Frigid to clear the flood from it in Halo 2?

All good points....anyone thought that the flood maybe were the forerunner?, but were diseased by some ailment whereupon the 343 dude locked em up?

just a thought

PS maybe the ailment was SARS...

good speculation GhostOfSarrow but thats what everyone said at first because of let me introduce myself. Enkidu is 343GS. I beleive its true but really there isn't any cognitive and solid evedience to support this. All we can say is that it sounds like him and then wait for it to be revealed as to what is happening to enkidu. I doubt though that if they reveal 343GS as Enkidu or part of enkidu, that they'll say how exactly or why. that will be a mystery answered in Halo 2.

I pitched your request upstairs, and got a flat "request denied." We can't postpone, and we can't repurpose another vessel to accompany you on the patrol. If Akkad can't repair her engine in time you'll have to go solo. You'll get that through official channels very soon. You can file a protest, that's your prerogative, but it won't do any good except at an inquiry. The brass are really leaning on me to get SENTRYWALK started on time.

I think the rush on this is more than the usual Intelligence spookage crap. Everybody's looking nervous around the water coolers. Not that there's anything solid yet that I'm aware of.

Kitty and Bob Jr are doing fine. Thanks for asking. I'll look in on Marge for you while you're gone, but she's still pretty mad at you. Fleet life is a helluva strain on a marriage I know.

Sorry about the bad news, Terry. I wish I could do more.

Sincerely,

Bob!~

What are you doing out there? You should be down here helping me clean up this mess you made! But you're up there playing with Terry's toys, aren't you? You're not just looking at the pretty auroras.

Terminal #17: Minimum Wages of Sin

Sin is also the Babylonian god of the moon.

the summation of Seitan is 666.

Just to go all religious on you folks, 666 was the # of the beast from hell, so that would be saying that Tiatans were bad, just an interesting thought I had, though I don't think it pertains to Enkidu.

Anyway, about keeping ships down with magnets, that would not work. The amount of magnetic force required to hold a Pelican down with engins that size would rip the iron out of a humans blood. Needles to say, that is a very bloody and gory process, and leaves the body completely unrecognizable. And yes, this is possible, it is not science fiction. It HAS happened. Basically, if that was the case, lets just say there wouldn't be much of a Covenant or Flood threat, let alone any Humans to worry about it, or for that matter, much of an instalation for anyone to be worrying in. Furthermore, due to the mention of auras in the letter, we can safely assume that magnetosphere was refering to the auras.

And for anyone interested, here's the greek alphabet.

No, 343 was still on Halo when this started, remember? He could possibly be on his way TO Frigid, but Enkidu doesn't sound like GS anyway right now. But he does sound Forerunnerish now.

Just thought I'd clarify something, the word "pyre" doesn't just mean any old fire. It is actually the word used to define a fire used to burn a body (or bodies) in a cremation. Just thought it might be helpful if someone is trying to make sense of the names.

I dont know if anonye else has noticed this but in terminal #18 Cap. Mathers says that they have to use enviro-suits to protect themsleves and flamthrowers to fully eliminate the chances of infection. Correct me if im wrong, but in Halo dont the Flood infect people by sticking their little infection forms inside poeple (or Cov) to make them into Flood? If im right then why is this version of Flood airborne? Oh and just to add a little somehting to the JD being Spartan theory: Its obvious hes wearing some suit possibly MJOLNIR to protect against the Flood.

No, mjolnir armor has already been thrown out. If he had it, he wouldn't need cold weather gear. And as for flamethrower thing, maybe there have just been all carrier forms till now or something? I dunno, but it does make it sound like its airborn somehow. Maybe thats why the Forerunner are making EXTRA sure no one leaves...

Oh yeah guess I forgot about the cold weather gear part. But still, how many more types of Flood are there? This new airborne type seems capable of destroying entire planets within weeks. Maybe each Installation has a different type of Flood that it studies or creates.

well this doesint make sense? if the flood have some new forms then why werent they introduced in the first, i mean wouldint the flood want all the power they can get? or are the different infectious forms are from different planets or study rings like halo? oh and did you look at the armor from TRANSMISSION [ORI:001,270,001] Its sweet!

My take on the latest terminal...

"Cover Identity"

We're pretty sure JD was undercover in the Cryo Bay, so I believe (like Noir) that JD was a medical officer stationed at the Cryo Bay. There are two main/valuable types of employment when fighting a battle with the Covenant and Flood, Soldier and Medic. If JD is a Spartan (and I don't believe JD is) he/she was not undercover as one, which leaves a Medic...

"Sailor"

Again we see JD called a sailor, although this time it isn't sarcastic. It is my view that the first time JD was called a sailor was sarcastic because the Captain realised that was not actually under his command. This time however I think the Captain has put that matter aside and see JD and himself working for the same goal... therefore JD is one of his sailors.

"Airborne Flood?"

I don't think so... The Captain mentions that shotguns and explosives are just spreading contaminents... I sure they'd want to avoid any chance of infection, so they put enviroment suits on.

There is a simple explanation for this, like any good web designer the creator is working off a template. You'll often see "ff512_forum_template" in the meta tags, which is sometime replaced with a title of sorts. [more] is the same, usually the creator would replace this with a few cryptic keywords... today they couldn't be bothered. No extra clues for us...

"Spartan?"

To my mind there is no extra evidence that JD is a spartan yet, I still think that the evidence points to JD being an ONI operative.
"Sailor" doesn't do it for me, all people under the Captains command are "sailors".
"your training is badly needed" - if JD was an undercover ONI operative he/she would be trained in many useful skills.
"cover identity" - which would you rather have, a Medic to ease your suffering as you die OR a Spartan to wipe out the enemy before they get to you? If JD was a Spartan I'm sure the Captain would want him in that capacity not as a Medic.

That's all I can think of for now...

You'll remember that Enkidu said JD had a "extra fancy neural interface" in Minimum Wages of Sin... JD also has a portable terminal.

All UNSC Forces probably can receive NAV points with their neural interface... can you imagine how much easier that would make it for commanding officers...
